International Department of Evangelism Virtual Masterclass Presiding Bishop J Drew Sheard Interim President Dr Dorinda Clark Cole Elect Lady Lady Kathy Bowman LIVING IN KINGDOM HEALTH AND WELLNESS COVID 19 has affected all of us in one way or another We ve endured joblessness economic turmoil and the tragic loss of loved ones friends and peers We have never witnessed anything of this magnitude during our lifetime This pandemic has also wreaked havoc on our emotions As a result we have grown accustomed to extreme fluctuations of anger love frustration joy sadness boredom and disgust Combined with the uncertainties of daily life and the all time high murder and suicide rates well that s enough to bring just about anyone to their knees We ve become overwhelmed with physical mental and spiritual exhaustion These burdensome conditions seem to be driving many of us to a place of mental anguish desperation and fear With all the mayhem surrounding us we must remember that we serve a God who understands the human experience Our High Priest is intimately acquainted with our sufferings Despite these truths He still requires our obedience Our callings have not been shelved Our purposes are still relevant We cannot let these present day sufferings hinder us We must fulfill our divine assignments for His glory The word condition means to adapt embrace change train work at or to posture oneself for change We cannot let these circumstances condition us Instead we must condition ourselves to walk in God s will and purpose How do we do that We must let God change our world so He can establish His world in us Kingdom living involves promoting the values beliefs and lifestyles of the Kingdom of God Are we leading lives that promote His purposes Are we taking proper care of ourselves so we can enjoy a healthier lifestyle Are we advancing in the new norm of Kingdom dynamics and dominion or have we been distracted by the methodical tactics of Satan Through the righteousness of God we must learn how to live a healthy Kingdom lifestyle that is both spiritually and naturally pleasing to Him We must intentionally focus on various areas to maintain and improve our overall health Overview Top Causes of Death in African Americans

Leisure funds Emergency funds B Are you satisfied with the mirror of your existing finances C What do you want your finances to look like when your evangelistic season is over There is an end to it III TRAIN YOUR MIND TO THINK DIFFERENTLY ABOUT MONEY A Imagine what your future is going to feel like if your mind isn t flooded with thoughts of due dates missed payments and late fees B If you would train yourself to think differently about your money now you could get your money to behave differently for you in the future You are the planner andfinancial security guard for your secured prosperous and wealthy fiscal future C How do you train your mind i DISCIPLINE To train by instruction and practice as in following rules or developing self control ii Discipline is the number one trait needed to create a happy mood and healthy and meaningful life It allows you to benefit from consistent daily action towards the achievement of your goals and dreams Studies have also shown that people with self discipline make positive decisions more easily and tend to feel more satisfied with their lives iii On the other hand lack of discipline results in failure and other problems Without discipline it s impossible to achieve any kind of success whether it s in your personal life or in your professional life Self discipline is the No 1 delineating factor between the rich the middle class and the poor 2

SAVE YOURSELF IV A FINANCIAL SECURITY 1 Corinthians 9 27 KJV 27 But I keep under my body and bring it into subjection lest that by any means when I have preached to others I myself should be a castaway 1 Corinthians 9 27 AMP 27 But like a boxer I buffet my body handle it roughly discipline it by hardships and subdue it for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it I myself should become unfit not stand the test be unapproved andrejected as a counterfeit B ONE EXAMPLE OF A PROVEN FINANCIAL SECURITY SUGGESTEDPLAN V i 10 Tithes Some tithe from gross and some tithe from net However you give tithes make this your priority ii 10 Offering Charitable Giving etc When it s gone it is gone iii 20 Priorities Savings emergency funds vacations etc iv 60 Net Income Bills Living Expenses Housing food transportation insurance entertainment cell phone must all be covered by this 50 CONCLUSION When it comes to personal finance there are no one size fits all rules but it is a fact that if you want financial security in the future it is imperative that you plan now EVANGELISTS TO SAVE YOURSELF FOR FINANCIAL SECURITY 3

International Department of Evangelism Virtual Masterclass Presiding Bishop J Drew Sheard Interim President Dr Dorinda Clark Cole Elect Lady Supt Marcus O Mickles Sr A Taste of Homiletics and Hermeneutics A sermon is not an essay or a literary composition intended to be read and reread but a message intended to be heard and to have an immediate impact upon the listeners D Martyn Lloyd Jones This class will seek to make participants comfortable with the idea of preaching and the how of preaching Participants will Be familiar with the major concerns of preaching Have an appreciation for multiple types of sermon creation and delivery Understand the role of the sermon in the act of worship Have an expanded set of resources for sermon development Understand the importance of integrity unity in the sermon Be a more effective communicator of the Good News I Homiletics What is Homiletics The word preacher was first a political term not a religious one According to 2 Tim 4 2 it referred to the function of a herald If the king had a message to get out he couldn t just call a press conference and have all the news media publish or broadcast their remarks They would dispatch his herald to deliver his message to his people The herald must be careful to proclaim the king s message with clarity and accuracy To misrepresent the king s message was just as dangerous as rejecting it The herald was on assignment to deliver the message of the king It was NOT their message We have no editorial authority over it the message cannot be changed to fit the crowd

II The types of homiletics Expository An expository sermon uses biblical text to form all three elements theme main point and minor points Textual Textual sermons use biblical text to form the main point and minor points of your sermon Topical Topical sermons use Biblical text to form the minor points of your sermon Selection Decide which sermon type is right for your lesson by considering how your lesson will relate to the Bible a Define Exegesis b Define Eisegesis c Define Apologetics III Preparing a Sermon is putting a puzzle together Give the necessary parts to a successful sermon Scripture Topic Intro Points Close IV Hermeneutics What is Hermeneutics Taking an academic approach to the text We will review 3 perspectives 1 A Historian 2 A Literary Critic 3 A Philosopher Theologian Teach beware of the lens they re wearing and even encourage them to be intentional about wearing a particular lens rather than embracing the myth of objective reading or resorting to and entrenched approach tied to their inherited worldview Answering the right question matters more than finding the answers they think they re supposed to find
