September edition detailing news and updates for Intentional Synergy!
As a special education administrator, I worked with a lot of teachers. Some of those teachers were more seasoned than I and others were fresh out of college. Regardless of their experience, I found that each had a unique perspective to offer about education. One particular teacher I coached was a brand new teacher, fresh out of college. She had the drive and excitement that most teachers have as they finally get the job they've been waiting for. She couldn't wait for school to start. Her room was impeccably decorated and she must have dropped a small fortune at the local teacher store. She was ready! She was the first to offer up her time and out of the box ideas at problem solving meetings. She never hesitated to jump right in with the tough kids.
So, as you can imagine, I was kind of floored when I walked into her room one day, just before her students were to arrive, to observe her, and she was in tears. She didn't really want to share what was wrong, but when I told her to let me know if I could support her in any way, the dam broke.
She felt that she was not cut out for a career in teaching. She thought she had made a mistake. I asked her to give me more information and she proceeded to say that she must have really screwed up in college because she now didn't know what she was doing and she was failing her students. I held back the laughs building inside me because I knew exactly what she was feeling. I knew because I had felt it also. Click here to finish reading this article...

Here's to a fabulous 2018-19 school year for everyone! Let's continue to learn, grow and succeed! Together, parents and teachers, can change the future for our kids!
Okay, well maybe not all about me, but enough for you to figure out why I'm here! I was a special education teacher, an assistant principal and a district special education administrator. As my, now 19, year old, son became older, stronger and bigger, it became very clear to me that working full time outside of my home was a pipe dream. My son has autism and cerebral palsy. As I looked at the job I did every day, I analyzed my favorite parts. I loved training teachers and other staff, working with teams and supporting parents.
What all of that boiled down to was I that I was extremely passionate about doing what was right for kids! In order for us to do what is right, we need to have the training and tools behind us to do so! That's when I decided that I wanted to combine my passions and begin Intentional Synergy.
My goal is to provide quality training through engaging online and on-site workshops for educators and parents on topics related to special education. Online trainings are offered on varying days and times to be convenient for parents and teachers. I further decided that my ultimate goal was to share information and educate others. Since budgets for parents, teachers and school districts are extremely tight, I made a promise that I would keep workshops priced at an affordable rate. I want to ensure that anyone who wants this information can afford to get it. All trainings are live and collaborative. I work to make sure you feel like you are sitting in a conference room with your colleagues. Join me on one of the upcoming workshops! And if you have an idea or topic you'd like to see covered, please feel free to email me at email@example.com .
