What Does the Supplemental Levy Pay For Approximately 86 of the Wallace School District s budget is used to cover the costs of staff salaries and benefits The supplemental levy is used to cover those costs for roughly 9 certificated teachers and 15 classified staff Those positions include the following About the 2022 Levy The 2022 Supplemental Levy has been set in the amount of 1 7 million a year for two years The recommendation for this levy comes from a group of stakeholders serving on the district planning committee The group reviewed district finances levy history future district budget planning and current budget needs and endorsed pursuing the 1 7 million for two years for the upcoming levy election The proposed supplemental levy is 100 000 6 lower than our current levy Under current tax conditions the proposal for 2022 equates to a savings of 26 72 per 100 000 of taxable assessed value per year Full Day Kindergarten 1st Grade Teacher Secondary Electives Elementary PE and Music Social Worker Counselor Special Education Paraprofessionals Reading Intervention Staff Math Intervention Staff Elementary Librarian Elementary Computers Supplemental Levy History The Wallace School District like 80 of Idaho s school districts rely on a supplemental levy to support programs beyond those that are funded by the state and federal government For over 20 years the Wallace School District has asked its patrons to support the additional funding Beginning in 2016 the district has made a continuous effort to reduce our levy amount Since that time we have reduced the levy amount by approximately 15 In addition the levy helps pay for supplies materials capital objects coaches activities transportation and equipment Lastly it helps maintain lower class sizes at both schools Wallace School District Mission We Pull Together to Create Learning Opportunities Wallace School District Vision Students will leave our district with critical and creative thinking skills be technologically literate able to work cooperatively with others and be lifelong learners
