Instructor’s Bio Lawanne’ S. Grant earned a BS in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University, graduating summa cum laude and salutatorian of her class. She advanced to obtain an MS in Administration of Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento, and a MA in Theology and Biblical Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary. She earned a Ph.D. in Business and Organizational Leadership conferred by Regent University. Dr. Lawanne' S. Grant has served as a Visiting Professor teaching Leadership & Organizational Behavior, Public Speaking, Comparative Religions, and Philosophy classes. Dr. Grant serves the Church of God in Christ on various levels. She is the First Lady of Kingdom Builders Church in Charlotte, NC, where she gracefully labors with her husband, Bishop Darryl L. Grant. Both support the vision of Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Stenneth E. Powell Sr., and Supervisor of Women, Mother Patricia D. Lofton, North Carolina Second Jurisdiction. Dr. Grant served the International Youth Department as an Assistant Chairlady and Executive Board Member. In 2017, she was appointed as a Special Consultant to Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis, General Supervisor for the Church of God in Christ, and charged with serving as Director of the Women’s International Convention Empowerment Workshops. In 2021, she was appointed Administrative Facilitator of Programming for the COGIC International Department of Women. Coupled with involvement in various outreach efforts, community programs, and professional organizations, Lawanne' S. Grant is a sought-after motivational speaker, mentor, and published author. Dr. Grant served nearly fifteen years as a Deputy Probation Officer and has provided leadership coaching to religious and corporate leaders across the states for over twenty years. Proverbs 27:17:oo"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."This verse emphasizes the mutual benefit of mentoring relationships, whereboth mentor and mentee grow and strengthen each other.2. 2 Timothy 2:2:o"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnessesentrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others."Paul is instructing Timothy to mentor and disciple others who will, in turn,mentor more people, emphasizing the ongoing process of discipleship andleadership development.o3. Exodus 18:24 (The relationship between Moses and Jethro):oo"Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said."Jethro, acting as a mentor to Moses, gives him wise advice about delegatingleadership responsibilities, which helps Moses manage his tasks moreeffectively.5. 1 Thessalonians 5:11:o"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact youare doing."Mentoring is about encouragement and helping others grow in their faith,leadership, and personal development.o6. Proverbs 13:20:o"Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffersharm."This scripture underscores the value of surrounding oneself with wisementors to grow in wisdom.o7. Acts 11:25-26 (Barnabas mentoring Paul):o"Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, hebrought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with thechurch and taught great numbers of people."Barnabas is often seen as a mentor to Paul, helping him grow in hisleadership and ministry role.o8. Deuteronomy 34:9 (Moses mentoring Joshua):o"Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moseshad laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did whatthe Lord had commanded Moses." Moses mentored Joshua, preparing himto take over leadership of the Israelites after his own death, a key exampleof passing on leadership.o9. 1 Corinthians 11:1:oo"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."Paul speaks as a mentor to the church, encouraging others to follow hisexample as he follows Christ, demonstrating the importance of rolemodeling in mentoring.10.
