Zachariah Spellman - 24 Preludes for Tuba & Piano CD
The expressive and melodic "24 Preludes” by Julius Jacobsen are presented by Digital Victrola through the talents of San Francisco Opera’s tubist Zachariah Spellman and internationally recognized pianist Karen Hutchinson. Julius Jacobsen was a trombonist and composer/arranger born in 1915 in Denmark where he was a soloist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Although his “Tuba Buffo” has been recorded numerous times, the 24 Preludes, composed in 1979, have rarely been heard.

Jeff Sanford's Cartoon Jazz Band - Cartoon Logic CD
Under the direction of Jeff Sanford, the Cartoon Jazz Band has been delighting audiences since 2002. Raymond Scott’s music is a part of our DNA, bought in 1941 by Warner Bros. and used to underscore the antics of Daffy and Bugs and more. This music has been covered by numerous tribute bands, and used again and again in commercials, TV shows and modern cartoons, thereby exposing generation after generation to his quirky sensibilities. However, there are few big bands operating today that use Scott’s music as the core of their repertoire as Jeff Sanford does here.
