Tonight s Competitors Gold Vibrations GV is based out of Rochester Hills Michigan They are proud students of Oakland University home of the Golden Grizzlies In GV new members are required to go under a deep sleep in which they physically become infused with the DNA of an actual Grizzly Bear That is why GV protests for longer winter breaks as they are required to hibernate due to the unique nature of their physical composition They request no flash photography or sudden movements as the new GV members are still adjusting to this human bear lifestyle Counterpoint reigns at Loyola University and focuses its energy into the greater Chicago area This small but mighty group of nine students performs on campus at gigs around the city and in various aca competitions This will be Counterpoint s second time competing in the ICCA and they are so excited to be back Counterpoint hopes more than anything to touch audiences with their powerful yet intricate arrangements In their set you may find songs you ve never heard romance languages and possibly a new a capella favorite What do you get when you mix together killer arrangements soloists with style and amazing harmonies That would be the University of Illinois at Chicago s UIC premier a cappella group Downtown Voices Downtown Voices was founded just over a year ago by Alex Krueger Bobby Campbell and Eleazar Cordova Even in its early stages this group has already transformed the a cappella scene at UIC with no intention of stopping there Check out Downtown Voices on Facebook to keep up to date with the latest and greatest news

What s that you say DANGER Well have no fear The Harmelodics are here These 11 ladies from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb Illinois are here to save the world Not all heroes wear capes Men in Drag no men occasional drag is an all female student run a cappella group at The University of Chicago Its members embrace everything that their name implies challenging gender conventions and bringing passion and swag to all female a cappella Whether they re donning dresses and heels or leather and boots Men in Drag is always rocking out Guilty The judge screamed as she brought down her gavel The Northern Illinois University Huskie Hunks looked up at her with tear filled eyes Their dream had come to an end The four long years of extensive work at charity concerts birthday parties and their third ICCA all meant nothing to the justice The bailiff yanked their arms to escort the Hunks out But they stopped They had one last chance to show this critic why these songs are too pleasurable to be silenced They threw off their restraints in defiance and stepped onstage to show the world what guilty pleasure really means Northern Sound is Northern Illinois University s first and only co ed a cappella group The group was founded in August 2014 and is in its second year of competing Northern Sound is composed of 13 men and women of various ages and majors Northern Sound performs on campus and throughout the DeKalb area with the goal of providing a fun and energetic musical outlet to all students on campus

The Ransom Notes is a student run co ed a cappella group from the University of Chicago They love to sing around campus and the city and last year took their firstever tour to Canada and the East Coast They just released their fourth studio album Black and Blue and when they aren t singing like to watch bad television eat lots of Thai food and inflate each other s Snapchat scores Based out of the South Side of the city of Chicago Rhythm and Jews is the University of Chicago s most prestigious and incidentally only Jewish a cappella group R J sings an eclectic mix of Jewish and secular music from Idan Raichel to Top 40s hits in venues ranging from concert halls to mountaintops They also make a mean brisket Introduce them to your parents Run for Cover is The University of Chicago s all male a cappella group The group is ecstatic to return two years later back on home turf and on the same stage as their ICCA debut where they won Best Arrangement and Best Vocal Percussion and advanced to Semifinals Since then RfC for short has released their first album two singles and had their track Ghosts named to the RARB Top Tracks of the Year Later this year they plan on recording an EP Today they can t wait for you to hear their set Run for Cover

Tonight s Judges Antonio Rodriguez graduated in 2009 with a bachelor s degree in music from Washington University in St Louis where he sang with The Amateurs Since graduation he has taught with numerous arts organizations in St Louis and is a veteran stage actor of many St Louis companies He was a member of the St Louis Theatre Circle Award winning ensemble of the a cappella musical All is Calm is a two time Theatre Circle Award winner for his individual acting work and in October he debuted his first solo cabaret Memories Mistakes and Moving On to a soldout crowd as part of the Gaslight Cabaret Festival In December he moved to Chicago to pursue a full time career in music and theatre Antonio is a proud member of the EMC program of Actor s Equity Selame Scarlett served as music director arranger and one of the main beatboxers for four years with Michigan State University s Capital Green A Cappella Earning praise on her VP from ICCA judges and other musicians she continues to build her drum set to bigger and better sounds Selame is a clinician a vocal percussion instructor and an arranger for various college high school groups in the Midwest In the summer months she is a counselor instructor at the prestigious A Cappella Academy an LA based vocal camp for young adults ages 13 to 17 Participating in numerous collaborative recording sessions Selame has been fortunate enough to record alongside Naturally 7 The Boxettes Pentatonix Duwende Cadence Traces of Blue formally Afro Blue and Lady Jaye Currently she is the vocal percussionist for the female gospel powerhouse group Traces featured on NBC s The Sing Off Season 5 In doing so she has performed at the Dolby Theatre and in front of Shawn Stockman Boyz II Men Jewel and Patrick Stump Fall Out Boy Aside from her a cappella endeavors Selame is a family service counselor

Ida Pajunen graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in violin performance During that time she also got her first taste of a cappella performing with Tangled Up In Blue She now splits her time directing and arranging for two high school a cappella groups and performing and recording as Ida Jo She has three full length records to her name and has appeared at festivals such as South By Southwest and Summerfest For more information www idajo com Elizabeth Hutchinson is a native of Bloomingdale Illinois and attended the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana She was a member and music director of The Illinois Rip Chords from 2007 2010 Before graduating she was named Outstanding Graduating Senior in Choral Music Education by the University of Illinois School of Music She has sung with many ensembles including the U of I Concert Choir U of I Women s Glee Club and The St Charles Singers Elizabeth is an active performer singing with the TVK Orchestra at weddings and special events and performing with the professional a cappella group An Octave Above She is also a freelance arranger and has created custom a cappella arrangements for several high school choral groups in the Chicago area In 2015 she will complete her Master s degree in Music Education at DePaul University Elizabeth is a full time choral director and music theory teacher at West Aurora High School in Aurora Illinois Erin Egan graduated from the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign with a degree in Choral Music Education There Erin spent several years as a member and music director of the co ed a cappella group No Comment She is the current director of Guys Dolls the co ed a cappella group hailing from Niles West High School in Skokie Illinois In addition she is the Volunteer Coordinator for the SingStrong Chicago A Cappella Festival an annual a cappella event that raises money to help
