34 Huntsville Parks & RecreationUPCOMING SIGNATURE EVENTS Our Special Events division’s primary goal is to plan, implement and support events at our recreation centers, sports complexes and parks. Additionally, this division supports hundreds of community events throughout the city on an annual basis. Citywide Boot Camp This free fitness experience is back! Hosted by Huntsville Parks & Recreation and led by instructors from Burn Boot Camp, these monthly workouts are suitable for ages 13+. The kicko will include a fitness festival at Hays Farm on Sept. 9 with health vendors and a workout. On Oct. 7, join us at Big Spring Park East. Participants are invited to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Nov. 4, don your red, white and blue gear for a special workout honoring veterans at Butler Green. We’ll be back at Butler Green for the Dec. 2 boot camp. All workouts will take place from 9-10 a.m. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early to complete your waiver. Jazz in the ParkJazz in the Park returns this September, attracting some of the nation’s top jazz artists to Big Spring Park East. Concertgoers are invited to bring their chairs, sit back and relax during these free performances from 5-9 p.m. each Sunday in September. Jazz in the Park is a collaboration between Huntsville Parks & Recreation and the City’s Oce of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Fall Program Guide 2023 35Fall FairIt’s country fun in the heart of the City as Huntsville Parks & Recreation hosts a Fall Fair on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 1-4 p.m. at Big Spring Park East. Enjoy games, kids’ crafts, old-fashioned treats, music and more in this celebration of “all things fall.”Halloween and Haunted House Join Huntsville Parks & Recreation and Huntsville Police for the most spooktacular event in town! The free, family-friendly event will be at The Orion Amphitheater on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 4-9:30 p.m. There will be a special kid-zone with bounce houses and games, trick-or-treating throughout the area and food trucks serving up frightfully delicious fare. At 6 p.m., the haunted house will open for thrills and chills. Free parking will be available on-site. OTHER SPECIAL EVENTSSpooky Sports Night and Trunk or TreatGet ready for Halloween with a special evening at Optimist Recreation Center on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 6-8 p.m. There will be themed games of badminton and volleyball, as well as line dancing to spooktacular tunes. The family-friendly event will also include a trunk-or-treat for the kids! Boo Bash Enjoy all the fun of fall at Brahan Spring Recreation Center’s Boo Bash on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5-8 p.m. There will be food, games and plenty of candy for children 12 and under. While costumes are welcome, please wear your gym shoes! Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.Haunted Hallways This annual event at Cavalry Hill Community Center is a favorite with young and old. Enjoy a night of spooky fun on Friday, Oct. 27, from 6-8 p.m. There will be candy, music, games and a costume contest, with prizes for best dressed, most creative and scariest costume. Meanwhile, the haunted hallways of Cavalry Hill will be open for those brave enough to enter!Monster Mash Mark Russell Recreation Center’s Monster Mash is back! Enjoy carnival games, prizes and candy on Friday, Oct. 27, from 6-9 p.m. Costumes welcome at this event for ages 12 and under. Halloween Hoopfest Get ready to hoop it up at Fern Bell Recreation Center this Halloween. Stop by Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 4-7 p.m. for Halloween fun, games, candy and basketball! There will be a free throw and three-point shootout, along with 3-on-3 youth basketball games. This event is intended for ages 16 and under.
