HOW TO’S FIRST-YEAR ESSENTIALSA RESOURCE FOR PARENTS OF RAGIN’ CAJUN® FRESHMEN June 5, 2019Parent Orientation at UL LafayetteSchool is out, summer is in, and orientation season is ocially underway! Although not mandatory, we highly encourage all parents or guardians supporting First Time Freshmen to attend Parent Orientation. At Parent Orientation, you’ll learn all about the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, our academic programs, and our many student services. Additionally, the Parent Orientation program is designed to help you understand your student’s transition to college and how you can best support them through that transition. Online registration for Summer & Fall 2019 Parent Orientation is available through the student orientation registration system. When your student registers for orientation online, they will have the option to register up to two guests to attend Parent Orientation. Not sure if you’re registered? No problem! You can register on site when you get here or email orientation@louisiana.edu. SOUL Camp is an optional, extended orientation program that emphasizes leadership development and Ragin’ Cajun® spirit. Through a combination of social activities, a community service project, educational speakers, interaction with faculty, sta, and upperclass student mentors, team building, and much more, students leave camp prepared to be an engaged member of our campus community. HOW TO’S FIRST-YEAR ESSENTIALSTransferring Credits to UL LafayetteIf students have dual enrollment, AP credit, CLEP credit, or any type of credit that could potentially transfer to UL Lafayette, make sure to follow the proper procedure to get the credits transferred.College Credit—ocial transcripts must be sent to UL’s Oce of Admissions. To submit transcripts digitally, email them to etranscripts@louisiana.edu.AP and CLEP Credit—must be provided by the organization itself, not students or parents. Visit their website in order to request the credit(s) to be sent to UL Lafayette.Find out if your credits transfer. Any questions regarding TOPS or nancial aid will be handled through the Oce of Financial Aid. The oce can be reached by phone at 337-482-6506 or by email at naid@louisiana.edu. Any questions regarding scholarships should be handled directly through the Oce of Scholarships; their oce can be reached at 337-482-6515 or by email at scholar@louisiana.edu.University Bookstore The University Bookstore, located in the Student Union and at the intersection of Rex Street and St. Mary Boulevard, will oer any textbook required for a class at UL Lafayette. The Bookstore allows students to rent or buy used textbooks to help with the costs. We suggest using caution when buying textbooks prior to the rst day of class, as some books are not required.Academic CalendarThe University’s Academic Calendar contains important dates including rst day of classes, add/drop date, student holidays, and more. View the calendar for each semester.Cajun CardThe Cajun Card will be the most important thing in your student’s wallet during their time at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. First and foremost, it serves as their student ID. But the Cajun Card is also your student’s free season pass to all Ragin’ Cajun® home games (subject to availability), gives your student admission to campus events, is their library card, meal card, building, lab, and parking pass, and gets your student discounts at tons of dierent stores and restaurants around campus.In addition to all that, your student can load it up with Cajun Cash and use it like a debit card on campus and at a select list of o-campus favorite shops.
