This course is mandatory for graduaon, your student is likely already registered in a UNIV 100 secon. The course has two components: (1) Cajun Connecon, Thursday, August 16, 2018, which is an extended introducon to UL Lafayee, to the campus community, and to University-level work and (2) the First-Year Seminar, which then connues for the rest of the semester. In addion to introducing your student to UL Lafayee’s campus and tradions, Cajun Connecon provides your student with many opportunies to get involved in campus acvies and to engage with others in the Ragin’ Cajun community with similar interests. Cajun Connecon is ocially the rst day of class for freshman; therefore, students must aend as if aending any other class. Aendance from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on August 16, 2018 is mandatory. This means arriving on me, and being fully prepared with a book bag, wring utensils, and a notebook. See what to bring below.  -in the Quad where students will receive a t-shirt, academic year planner, and a Cajun Connecon packet. Students will be able to conrm their Cajun Connecon classroom locaon at check-in. Students are receiving an email about Cajun Connecon on Monday, August 6, to their UL email, detailing instrucons on how to locate their Cajun Connecon classroom.  - Every incoming freshman should have their student I.D. on them at allmes. This is how we will check aendance.- All students should arrive in class ready with necessary supplies suchas wring utensils and paper.- Certain porons of Cajun Connecon will be outside so it is importantto come prepared for  (August in Louisiana). Thisincludes comfortable shoes to walk in.- A water bole is a great idea, as well assun screen, sun glasses, some sort ofhat, and an umbrella. *Students involved in bandand athlecs who will missCajun Connecon will complete an online makeup.

Commuter students will park at Cajun Field and be bussed to campus. Busses will begin service at 7:00 a.m. and will run about every 20 minutes. As we expect to transport roughly 1,500 commuter students, there will inevitably be some extent of wait me. Class aendance is taken promptly at but we encourage students to arrive early! On-campus parking is also available to commuter students in the Girard Park Circle Parking Garage. Garage rates consist of $5.00 for the rst two hours, then S1.00 for each addional hour. Light breakfast will be provided during Cajun Connecon.  Buying college textbooks can be a stressful and expensive feat, but it doesn’t have to be! Students should wait unl the rst week of classes to buy books—professors will go over the syllabus on the rst day of class to cover textbook informaon. It is easy to lose money when buying books prior to the rst day of class because not all textbooks are required or specied on the syllabus. Some ways to save money include renng textbooks from the Ragin’ Cajuns Store on campus, ordering books online, buying them used, or somemes checking-out textbooks (for a limited me) from the campus library.  College isn’t all work and no play. Freshman Week is a fun me to get to know other students! Freshman Week begins on Sunday, August 12, and ends Sunday, August 19, 2018. See the next page for the week’s schedule. Some of the fun acvies planned for Freshman Week include: First-Year Info Sessions - to help your student succeed here at UL Lafayee. Students get their passport stamped at every session they aend during Freshman Week, then turn it in to their Peer Mentor during Cajun Connecon on Thursday (students pick up a passport at the rst session they aend). For every session your student aends, they will be entered into a drawing for great prizes!
