Entrepreneurship and
Sustainable Culture
To learn from the experience of leadership, authority,
accountability and love in order to promote a spirit of inquiry
in the Peruvian Amazon
Full immersion for learning in real time
The Tavistock Group Relations Methodology “contributes to the capacity
to develop and retain mental space of a benign, creative, contained and
constructive nature” (Young, R; 1994). This mental space offer the
possibility for emotional growth through the acceptance of the socially
constructed aspects of the external reality of an individual and his/her
community/group/organisation/society by confronting projection and
denial at organisational and societal levels
This event is a method for the study of community relations
and the development of leadership capabilities. It requires
full immersion and it takes the shape of a temporary
cooperative that builds an experiential learning community
with sustainable outcomes. We integrate different
methodologies of the social sciences, including action
research and applied psychoanalysis to work on the field of
sustainability with an open systems approach. Our core
praxis will build over the Tavistock Tradition of Group
Relations and Mini-society Conferences. We have developed
three interconnected sub-conferences offering multiple
opportunities for experiential learning.
Each participant will take up different roles and
responsibilities by participating in the design of various social
and organisational structures. Inside the event, we will reflect
upon reality as it is experience learning of the different
dynamics involved in the process of role taking in turbulent
environments and the dynamics of interdependency in
complex systems.
Together we'll enquire into our development as a learning
We will work in non-conventional ways of
learning requiring no specic type of
education. The arts will be central to our
working approach incorporating musical
creation, dancing, crafting, painting among
other dimensions for the exploration of cultural
life. In this learning process, feelings, dreams,
physical sensations, fantasies, wishes and
desires will be resources offering each
participant a valuable source of information
about themselves and about the community as
a system.
This is a unique opportunity to reflect about
the human ecology of the Amazon, helping to
document its wisdom before its lost.
Participants will share a number of sessions to
work on the conference primary task and will
also have the opportunity to work in different
sub- conference structures according to their
different experiences and areas of interest.

on creating their own systems of work

Here and Now: the space for learning and transformation
Authority: the right to take action and make decisions on behalf of a group. A right that can come from various
sources, such as from above, below, formally or informally.
Boundaries: separate and connect what is inside and outside. This includes boundaries between organizations
and their environments, between sub- groups, between the individual and the group, and between the person
and role.
Hope: a leap on expectation.Serves as a drive for emotions and human wellbeing. Concept with solid roots in

of role taking. Its exploration increases human potential and explores questions such as why do I take a role in a
system at a given point in time? Why a given organisational system exists? How does it contributes to the
larger ecological system to which it belongs?
