Jilmer, 11 months old, is the youngest son of Juan Véliz(49) and María Josefina Esquite (39). They have fourother children: one is 10 years old and three girls are 8, 6,and 3 years old. They live in La Hierba Buena, in themunicipality of Palencia. Juan works as a farmer on landthat is not his own, paying to use it to support his familyof 7 members.The Véliz Esquite family joined the program in 2023 byinvitation from a community leader who constantlysupports the Food and Nutritional Security program byCaritas Arquidiocesana, considering the family'seconomic limitations.Jilmer Veliz, 11 monthsJilmer has been under the program's care since January, 2023 and thanks to anthropometric measurements andpediatric consultations, it was diagnosed that he is at risk of acute malnutrition. Additionally, clinical signsindicating Jilmer's malnutrition have been identified, such as irritability, weakness, and delayedneurodevelopment.As a strategy to provide personalized follow-up, they have been given nutritional and pediatric consultations, andthe nearest health center has been notified for follow-up during weeks when the program is not present in thecommunity.María Josefina expresses that "Spammy is a food that enriches and meets their basic food needs," as not havingsufficient economic income makes it easier for them to cover other basic needs.Jilmer in weight control session
