College is a time for self-discovery and connection, and this year’s program invites you to nd your place within a community shaped by many perspectives. Together, we’ll reect, grow, and build a sense of belonging at the U.You are about to embark on a journey lled with exciting challenges, meaningful opportunities, and transformative experiences that will sharpen your academic skills and shape you into a globally minded citizen. Soon, you’ll become part of the University of Miami’s vibrant, active, and diverse community of students, faculty, and sta—and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you!Our oce is here to support your success and growth by providing a wide range of programs, services, and resources designed to help you thrive. We also contribute to the enrichment of campus life through volunteerism, partnerships, and advocacy.In addition to participating in Horizons, we encourage you to stay connected by attending our events, joining student organizations, and giving back to our close-knit community. Through these experiences, you’ll build lasting relationships with peers, sta, and faculty members who are here to support you as you navigate your college journey.Welcome to the U and go Canes!MSA hosts more than 150 programs including Horizons, Beyond the Horizons, Culture Pop-Up, Real Talk, and Senior Mwambo. MSA advises more than 30 student organizations that focus on cultural identities, leadership, men’s and women’s empowerment, poetry, pre-professional societies, and special interest populations.MSA works with several student organizations and departments to coordinate cultural celebrations including: ฀• Asian/Pacic Islander Heritage Month฀• Black Awareness Month฀• Caribbean Cultural Celebrations฀• Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration• ฀Hispanic Heritage Month฀• Native American MonthNetwork with faculty and sta: Connect with University faculty and sta to gain valuable insight on navigating your academic, professional, and student life at the U.Connect with new and returning students: Through a series of fun and engaging activities, you will make connections with your peers and discuss issues relevant to new students.Explore mentorship opportunities: Meet our team of Horizons mentors and counselors who have been specically selected for their knowledge of the University and the surrounding community.
