The building interior benefits from a smooth power floated floor, a mezzanine plaorm with handrails and a staircase to the central core. Internal paroning has been installed to create a plant room, office and toilets with drainage.The building exterior benefits from the quality insulated roof and side cladding, high end thermo glazing seconal door and large contemporary composite windows. The exterior is beaufully finished with ethically and sustainably sourced chestnut mber panelling, an ideal finish to complement its rural seng. Hawkins Projects were responsible for the design, manufacture and installaon of the cycling specific wind tunnel test facility based in Evesham, Worcestershire.Differing from exisng wind tunnel facilies used for aerospace and automove development, this facility is the first of its kind in Europe used for the measurement of dynamic drag for non-motorised sports applicaons.The wind tunnel itself was fabricated in our steel workshop before being dismantled and delivered to site to be installed along with a prep room and control room to form part of the overall facility.23

81Hawkins Projects Ltd were proud to be appointed as the Principal Contractor for the next phase of expansion at Fine Lady Bakeries in Manchester. This excing project has enabled the bakery to substanally increase the weekly output of luxury bread products to keep up with demand. The completed project lasted 9 months and involved the challenge of installing a brand new bakery line and associated infrastructure whilst the site connued to be operaonal. Hawkins projects were responsible for: Full Health and Safety Management of the site with over 500 workers inducted and with over 300 Safe Days on site (Safe Days reporng means RIDDOR or Dangerous Occurrences NOT reported and no lost me to incidents). Design, planning and construcon of new, two storey offices, a large storage building, internal mezzanine and concrete slab construcon for flour silos.  Relocaon of internal offices, wash out area and foam store to facilitate new bakery line. Refurbishment of exisng staff offices and facilies. Supply and lay of new specialist Altro Crete slip resistant flooring and walkways in the bakery. Supervision and planning for all phases of the new bakery line, installaon of new equipment from ingredients storage through to product despatch, including mechanical and electrical works and data cabling. 27

Hawkins Roofing Ltd were awarded the contract for a roofing and cladding project on a new development located at Millets Farm Centre in Frilford.Working with the architect’s original concept drawings Hawkins Roofing developed and installed a complete full building envelope to house a new children’s indoor play area. Hawkins Roofing worked closely with Hawkins Steel who fabricated and installed the steel frame. Using Kingspan composite insulated panels Hawkins Roofing were then able to provide a thermally efficient and airght roofing and cladding soluon with the ability to carry a secondary mber facade.The project also included installing natural daylight polycarbonate rooflights, curtain wall glazing and power assisted doors.43

This was a TATA Planum specificaon and warranty approved project, using new 120mm Trisomet 333 profile panels in HPS200 Ultra.Hawkins also designed, manufactured and installed a new internal collecve protecon of falls around the roof-lights, removing the requirement for a handrail around the roof-lights to HSE sasfacon.45

Roof details and penetraons were completed with Enkopur cold applied liquid waterproofing system as per the specificaon required by the client.Original Georgian wire glazing units were also removed and replaced with Kingspan Ecoplan rooflights that were bespoke made in Europe to suit the requirements of the site.The construcon process had to be meculously planned and executed so the works could be carried out whilst keeping the enre plant fully operaonal throughout the construcon period.The works were completed on-me despite baling against the elements in a very wet and cold winter period.47

Hawkins Steel Ltd worked with Stepnell Ltd on a residenal development designed to create an innovave, modern living space with communal and community facilies.Hawkins Steel supplied and fied 21 balconies for the four-storey mansion block of flats, covered walkways on all three levels between the two sides of flats underneath a glass atrium roof canopy with an access ladder over the roof.A three-storey community centre was built next to the mansion block offering a mul-use hall, café and social space. Hawkins Steel Ltd were commissioned to provide technical and design advice for the supply, fabricaon and installaon of a new helical feature staircase.The staircase specificaon included the following features: Floang staircase with all steel supports to be hidden. Curved glass balustrading. Bronze handrails and tread infills. Timber stringers.This was an extremely complex project, with heavy mild steel fabricaon and processes. The steel support structure had to be curved to exacng tolerances. The staircase was fabricated by our highly skilled fabricators and trial erected within our workshop facility. All glass and bronze work was then measured within our facility prior to on-site installaon. All installaon was carried out by Hawkins personnel during nights over a four week period.65

The project plan included the following integrated aspects:  Provide fabricated structural steel column and beam monorail support structure. Supply and apply surface finish to the structural steelwork to the client’s corporate colour scheme.  Carefully plan and execute the loading of steelwork into shipping containers for sea freight.  Prepare itemised inerary of shipping documents to meet me crical sailings.  Install steelwork on-site working in co-ordinaon with numerous other mechanical trades and to a me-crical deadline.67
