Message 1MONDAY, MARCH 3, 2025
Welcomeare exceptional. We’re particularly excited about the sons of our donor dams R Plus 5345C and R Plus 1148J, which are among the most consistent and impressive black bulls we’ve ever raised. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re lled with anticipation for the future of Harvie Crest Cattle. The foundation of our program is built on structural soundness, low maintenance, and easy-to-handle bulls that work for both the commercial and purebred cattleman. From the health of our cows to the strength of our breeding program, every detail is considered to ensure that our cattle meet the highest standards and work well in diverse environments. We are incredibly fortunate to have a fantastic team behind us, from our nutritionist Georges Uebelhardt at Heartland Feeds, the veterinary crew at C.C.H.M.S., and the marketing team at Bohrson Marketing. The continued success of Harvie Crest Cattle wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community and family. We are especially grateful for Kerrie’s Uncle Bob Bennett who continues to come lend a helping hand. Also over the past two years, we’ve been able to acquire Kerrie’s Uncle David Bennett’s incredible group of Simmental bred heifers that has enable us to continue to develop our herd. And of course, both of our parents Barry & Myrna Bennett and Ian & Marlene Harvie for their unwavering support. We invite you to join us on Monday, March 3rd at 1:00 PM for our bull sale at the ranch. This is more than just a sale—it’s our branding day, a celebration of a year’s worth of hard work. We believe this year’s bull pen is deep, and we’re condent there’s a bull that will work for you. Feel free to tour the bull pen before the sale and take a look at the cow herd. It’s a great opportunity to see their mothers, sisters, and daughters of our herd sires in production. If you have any questions or need assistance selecting your next herdsire, don’t hesitate to reach out to Kerrie, myself, or the team at Bohrson Marketing. We’re here to help you succeed. Here’s to a bright and prosperous 2025!Yours truly, Scott HarvieAs we prepare for our upcoming Annual Bull Sale on Monday, March 3rd, we can’t help but feel proud of all the hard work that has brought us to this moment. The cattle industry is at an all-time high, and it’s our time to shine and reap the rewards of years of dedication. With the national herd shrinking due to many cattlemen aging out or transitioning to grain farming, and beef demand on the rise, we believe the coming years will continue to be promising for those who are committed to this incredible cattle industry. At Harvie Crest Cattle, our passion for the cattle industry runs deep. Whether it’s breeding the best cattle we can, hitting the road to visit customers, or showing cattle with our kids, we love every aspect of this business. We’re particularly proud of the next generation of ranchers in our family—Chick, Gentry, and Tel—who are already deeply invested in the future of this operation. Their passion and work ethic are evident as they help us in the barn, compete in shows, and interact with our customers. We’re excited to watch them continue to grow as young stockmen and women. Our children have truly made this journey special. They had a memorable year participating in our local beef club, the “High Steaks Junior Beef Club”. Lots of learning and fun to be had with their friends and projects. A huge thank you to our veterinarian Dr. Waylon Wise and C.C.H.M.S. for purchasing Chick’s steer and to Promold Marketing for purchasing Gentry’s steer! They also participated in many spring and summer shows and made us so proud with their enthusiasm and passion in showing our genetics. At Summer Synergy, Chick took home the title Grand Champion Junior Aggregate and Junior Master Showman and had Grand Champion Percentage Female. Gentry had a great season as well, taking home some showmanship buckles and showing her SimAngus heifer “Sharkie 4091L”, the natural calf of the Grand Champion Red Angus Female at Canadian Western Agribition. And then there is Tel, 7 years old already learning the ropes. He helps with everything from newborn calves to processing. Chick and Tel were thrilled to have their percentage Simmental pair earn the title of “Alberta Run For The Roses Percentage Female” and even earn them Tel’s rst belt buckle. This year’s bull pen is truly the best we’ve raised in our 20 years of breeding Simmental cattle, and that’s a bold statement considering how proud we were of last year’s crop. We’re already seeing the fruits of our extensive ET program, and the results speak for themselves. With proven sires like Harviecrest Payday 2021K, Harvie JDF Wallbanger 111X and R Plus 5015C to name a few and dams like Harviecrest Dakota Rose 119H and MAF Mackfrid 27F, this year’s oerings

Welcome from Dr. Waylon WiseCow/Calf Health and Management Solutions (CCHMS) works together with Harvie Crest Cattle to manage their entire herd through an integrated and comprehensive health, nutrition and production management program.Detailed data is collected on each individual animal at all key health and production points and is kept in a secure web-enabled database called Telus Animal Record Management (formerly Herdtrax). We continually monitor and audit this data and use this information to improve the health, welfare, performance and eciency of the entire operation.BREEDING SOUNDNESS EXAMINATIONEach bull has passed an extensive Bull Soundness Examination which includes soundness of structure, palpation of testis and internal sex glands, scrotal circumference, examination of the penis as well as verifying sucient sperm motility and morphology. Bulls are considered to be Satisfactory if they have already passed the above criteria at sale time. [Those bulls that are deemed as “Prepubertal or Decision Deferred” have either not reached puberty or are stressed, but show sucient signs of improvement and likely will be satisfactory as soon as the days get longer, the grass get greener and bulls can be bulls. There is considerable selection pressure placed on young bulls and 30% of all bulls will fail to produce an adequate sample at 12 mo., 15% at 14 mo., 5% at 16 mo. None of the bulls will be delivered until they are Satisfactory on a Bull Soundness Exam]CCHMS is proud to work with Harvie Crest Cattle and if there are any questions, please contact me and I can always nd the time to talk about cows, bulls and the Canadian cattle industry.I really appreciate the condition these bulls are in, they are built for longevity. Congrats on another outstanding pen of bulls!Dr. Waylon Wise BSc. Ag, DVMTHANK YOU C.C.H.M.S. THANK YOU PROMOLD MARKETING

Our goal is not to have the heaviest bulls in the spring, but rather we aim for a 3 to 3.5lbs average daily gain to ensure bulls are not burnt out and will handle a breeding season and continue to grow and develop.MAKING THE BULL SALEAT BIRTH - all bull calves must have calved easily and exhibit high vigour by getting up and nurse unassisted. If any bull or heifer calf receives colostrum, they are culled from our program. Dam must have a problem free udder, good feet and be easy to handle. Any cows that do not check all three boxes then go into the recip program.SPRING PROCESSING - calves must have remained healthy and not have been treated for pneumonia, are structurally sound, show a positive growth curve and finally not show any disposition issues.FALL WEANING - all calves must have adequate growth, display traits we want to replicate in the commercial industry and again cull for disposition.WINTER - bulls must perform to our standards and pass a semen evaluation test.LIABILITY The owners, their employees, sale sta and representatives accept no liability for accidents that may occur. Persons who attend do so at their own risk.REGISTRATION & TRANSFER A registration certicate of the animal will be duly transferred to the purchaser for any registered animals.PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY Tia Schram, Seven D MediaBull photos taken January 7, 2025 | Videos taken February 9, 2025SIMMENTAL BREED AVERAGE EPDS 2025

35We can’t believe it’s already been a year since we partnered with Heartland Feeds, becoming a dealer of Key-Lix lick tubs for Central Alberta. This partnership has given us the opportunity to share a product we’ve relied on for years—one that consistently meets the nutritional needs of our animals.Key-Lix lick tubs deliver essential vitamins and minerals that are crucial for the health and performance of livestock. What sets these tubs apart is their use of chelated trace minerals, which signicantly enhances absorption. In fact, the absorption rate can be up to six times higher than non-chelated alternatives, helping you lower feed costs without compromising on quality. If you’ve followed us on Facebook, you’ve likely seen the dierent ways we’ve used Key-Lix tubs throughout the year. Here are a few examples:1) 20% Pre-Calving Tubs: Scott’s go to tub and our best-seller! This versatile tub contains MOS yeast, which promotes digestive health. We use this tub year-round; placing them in calf shelters as an alternative to licking dirt, oering them a healthy and nutritional option. This helps aid against scours and stomach ulcers. Before calving, oering this tub to pregnant cows nutritionally prepare them for demands of calving and aid in proper cleaning aer giving birth. This past year, we used the biodegradable tubs during breeding season and then into summer, eliminating creep feeding. Calves maintained excellent weight gain, and cows entered fall heavier, osetting the cost of the tubs. These tubs also helped compensate for declining summer pasture protein levels, stretching our grazing season and maximizing growth.2) Weaning Tub/Power Tubs: This has quickly become a favorite for us! We used it with our show cattle and noticed a signicant dierence—they went on feed and water more consistently at the shows and maintained their ll. This year, we also placed these tubs in the calf sheds, and the calves have been actively using them. What we love about this tub is the concentrated mineral content and the added yeast. Calves can consume less while still getting the nutrition they need to handle high-stress periods like weaning. The yeast in the formula plays a key role in supporting digestion and overall health during these critical times. We’re proud to oer Key-Lix tubs in both plastic and biodegradable options, which our customers have come to love for their convenience and sustainability.A heartfelt thank you goes out to our 2024 customers who purchased Key-Lix tubs from us. From a few tubs at a time, to a skid or even a truckload, your support is appreciated. Here’s to another successful year of keeping your livestock healthy and thriving with Key-Lix!
