After a hospital stay, returning back home can be difficult andpresent new challenges for your elderly loved one. Elderly individuals can face a roller coaster ofemotions during the transition. If a senior has become more frail or lost their independence,getting re-acclimated may require additional services, such as physical therapy, visiting nursesand increased assistance with daily activities. Home Health Professionals such as visiting nurses,physical therapist, physicians, and social workers will assess the needs and how best to care foryour loved one once they are back home. Companion SitterA “companion sitter” is a specialized caregiver. They are there to provide around-the-clock orhourly companionship to observe and alert the hospital/rehab/nursing facility staff to problemsor issues the patient may experience. They keep patients company by talking with and listeningto them and assist with errands, play games and just be a trusted friend.
