CLASS VERSE For the Lord gives wisdom from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding He holds success in store for the upright He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless Proverbs 2 6 7 MAY JUNE 2020 IN THIS ISSUE Class Motto Graduates Gravitating to Greatness The eighth grade class motto reflects their journey while attending Calvary Academy This year s journey started the same as every class before them but ended in a way they will never forget A global pandemic stay at home order and mandated e learning changed everything in a matter of weeks to an experience no other graduating class has had This class was able to honor God by persevering through a new virtual learning experience and holding themselves to higher standards of successfully completing their work Their hard work and dedication allowed them to succeed in these difficult times The greatness they have shown will help them to be successful in their future endeavors Graduate Yard Signs In early May Mrs Pender Mrs Melvin and Mr Ritzema went to all the 8th grade homes They drove from South Holland to Chicago just to surprise the 8th grade graduates They Celebrated the graduates by blasting music singing dancing and placing yard signs in their lawns Each graduate was featured on our Facebook and Instagram pages with their teacher and families A picture of each Graduate with their sign is placed in this newsletter This was such a fun way to Celebrate our 8th grade graduates and families Congratulations Calvary Academy Class of 2020 A Charge to the Graduating Class Mrs Melvin challenges the class of 2020 with a few words Continued on page 8 Academic Scholar Award 8th Grade Academic Scholar Awards were announced at Graduation for every subject Continued on page 8 8th Grade Stories We celebrate our graduating class of 2020 with a tribute to them and a testimony to their time at Calvary Academy Continued on page 2 7

MAY JUNE 2020 Issue 17 2 James Bullock When did you start attending Calvary Academy I began attending Calvary in Kindergarten What do you love about Calvary Academy I enjoy the sports teams Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why Miss Allen and Mr Cameron are my favorite because they always understand me In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy I have grown in my faith because Mr Cameron explains the Bible well What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students My advice would be to not be a follower What High School will you be attending I will be attending Marian Catholic High School Michelle Charles When did you start attending Calvary Academy I attended Calvary Academy in Pre K What do you love about Calvary Academy I love that Calvary has a tough curriculum that pushed students and we can freely talk about God Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why Miss Baranowski is my favorite teacher because she is an outstanding teacher When I was in 3rd grade I had the best time in her class I love how we played a math game with smarties the smarties pushed me to learn more about math One thing I won t forget is how she always let me come to her classroom every last Friday of the month to get candy I will truly miss her In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy I have grown in my faith by knowing how to defend my beliefs and knowing my worldview What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students My advice for Calvary Academy students is to have perseverance it s going to get harder before it gets easier If you don t know how to do something seriously ask The teachers God blessed our school with are designed to help us so don t take that for granted What High School will you be attending I will be attending Marian Catholic High School Alana Ellis When did you start attending Calvary Academy I started attending Calvary Academy in 1st grade 2012 What do you love about Calvary Academy The things that I love about Calvary are the education the community the teachers and their dedication friendships and the spiritual relationship that we all have together Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why I have quite a few favorites but one of my favorite teachers is Miss Baranowski aka Miss B Her class was pretty enjoyable when I was in 3rd grade She is very kind loving beautiful very sweet fun and a wonderful person I am grateful that I had her as my teacher it was a pleasure and an incredible blessing from God for me to be in her class She will be missed but I am going to cherish her in my heart God bless you Miss B In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy The ways that I have grown in my faith was through Bible classes church prayer and learning from my mistakes What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students My advice for Calvary students is to try not to rush life enjoy every second of it while you can even if it gets tough What High School will you be attending I will be attending Bloom Trail High School

MAY JUNE 2020 Issue 17 4 Se Van Jaimevadi When did you start attending Calvary Academy I started at Calvary Academy in 4th grade What do you love about Calvary Academy The thing that I love about Calvary is its atmosphere Leaving my initial school and adapting to a new environment in 4th grade proved a smooth ride for me The students and teachers both presented a warm and welcoming environment for me I also love that my experience at Calvary has supplied me with the best quality education and shaped me well for the world ahead Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why One of my favorite teachers is Mr Cameron because of his warm effervescent spirit offers a shoulder in which to cry and a hand by which to be lifted up Mr Cameron expertise in this field shone through in the way he taught and he has prepared me well for my daily struggles and tests as I face life ahead In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy I have grown in my faith incredibly as a result of the foundation laid by Calvary Academy Learning the reality that Jesus cares deeply for His people despite their sins and imperfections Calvary has taught me that just as God serves us tirelessly with his love we as his people are called exclusively to serve Him and submit to him faithfully What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students I would advise Calvary students to focus themselves on satisfying God through their effort in school In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths What High School will you be attending I will be attending Chicago Christian High School Philip Johnson When did you start attending Calvary Academy I began attending Calvary Academy at the Daycare What do you love about Calvary Academy I enjoy how the community at Calvary is so nice Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why Mr Cameron is my favorite teacher he can be both serious and have fun at the same time In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy I was able to grow in my faith be learning more about Jesus and God s creation What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students My advice is Don t think it will all come easily you need to spend time on assignments What High School will you be attending I will be attending Marian Catholic High School Levell Kensey When did you start attending Calvary Academy I began attending Calvary Academy in Kindergarten What do you love about Calvary Academy I love how we can freely talk about God and the accelerated education that people in public schools may not have Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why Mrs Russell is one of my favorite teachers because she has great patience for the students she teaches Even when it seems that she s going to give up she doesn t Also I could not ask for a better band teacher In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy I ve grown in many ways I can defend my worldview and prove that God exists Also I have grown in the way that I am not afraid to be a Christian and stand up for my beliefs What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students My advice is to manage your time wisely Even if you have all the time in the world to finish your homework or obtain your AR points do it quickly to get it out of the way You never know what could come up unexpectedly What High School will you be attending I will be attending Lake Central High School

MAY JUNE 2020 Issue 17 7 Jamil Tucker When did you start attending Calvary Academy I began attending Calvary Academy in first grade What do you love about Calvary Academy At Calvary I love that we can talk about God and worship Him together Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why Miss Allen is my favorite she is pretty cool fun and laidback In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy I have grown in my faith by increasing my relationship with God and with others What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students My advice for students is to always do your best and follow God no matter what What High School will you be attending I plan on attending Thornwood High School Mikayla Wilkerson When did you start attending Calvary Academy I began attending Calvary Academy at the Day Care What do you love about Calvary Academy At Calvary I love how each teacher pushes us to do better when we think we can t Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why Mr Cameron is one of my favorite teachers I have only known him for 3 years and it feels like I ve known him for a lifetime I can talk to him about anything I want without being afraid In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at Calvary Academy From my Calvary experience I ve grown deeper in my faith because my teachers have taken me deeper than just bible stories They have told us about life experiences how to read and understand the Bible and most important to share it with others What advice do you have for Calvary Academy students The advice I have is to stay focused on your studies try to have fun and build a good relationship with your teachers I also advise people to play a sport because it keeps you active it will make time go faster you will get to know your classmates outside of the classroom and it will help keep your grades up Finally school isn t as bad of a place as you might think as long as you do what you re supposed to do and stay in your lane School can really be fun the only reason it won t be fun is because you made it that way What High School will you be attending I plan on attending Marion Catholic High School
