YOU RE INVITED Dear Colleagues On behalf of POSNA President Steven Frick MD and the 2019 Program Committee Jeffrey Sawyer MD Jeffrey Martus MD and Wudbhav Woody Sankar MD and I it is my great honor to invite you to the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America in Charlotte North Carolina on May 15 18 2019 Once again a record number 924 of abstracts were submitted to the Annual Meeting and these were graded by a combination of invited and volunteer readers Thank you to all 100 POSNA members who volunteered they have helped to shape a great meeting All 169 podium presentations 20 posters and 80 ePosters are outstanding Premiering this year are 11 video abstracts now showing in the Video Theater and available on POSNAcademy The meeting agenda follows The Pre Course begins Wednesday morning Improving Patient Care through Wellness Teamwork and Organizational Changes chaired by Brian Scannell MD The first scientific session begins on Wednesday afternoon and will be followed by the Opening Ceremony Wednesday evening Thursday we will have the Symposia Program from 10 00 AM 12 00 PM with offerings like POPS COUR Research Trauma Innovation and Technology and Educate the Educator This shift for the Symposia makes room for the free afternoon outdoor recess on Thursday afternoon The 5th Annual Arabella Leet MD Young Member Forum will be held on Thursday during lunchtime from 12 30 PM 1 30 PM and it is organized by Jennifer Weiss MD The Member Business Meeting will take place at lunchtime on Friday 11 30 AM 1 00 PM to allow meetings in the mornings before the start of the scientific session Friday afternoon will be devoted to eight subspecialty sessions covering advanced topics in Spine Hip Sports Upper Extremity Foot Trauma Neuromuscular and Lower Extremity Each session will have six podium presentations that are staggered through the afternoon so attendees can move to different sessions to hear either the paper session or the programs put together by Jeffrey Martus MD and the Subspecialty Day Program Chairs This year s local co hosts Brian Brighton MD and his wife Erin Brighton and Virginia Casey MD and her husband Kevin Casey have been instrumental in identifying great offerings for Thursday afternoon and the venue for our Closing Reception the NASCAR Hall of Fame The Annual Meeting has become the premier venue for pediatric orthopaedic research and education presented in a uniquely collegial and social atmosphere We sincerely hope you plan to join us for what promises to be an exciting event I look forward to seeing you in Charlotte Sincerely Michelle Caird MD 2
