Thank you for joining us at the WJCS 2025 Gala as we celebrate two extraordinary individuals—Joel S.Beckman and Gillian Rittmaster. Joel and Gillian have dedicated themselves to strengthening the fabric of ourWestchester community, ensuring that individuals and families who are facing life’s most difficult challengesreceive the support they need. We are delighted to honor them tonight. For over 80 years, WJCS has been at the forefront of providing comprehensive human services to those inneed. Since our founding in 1943, we have grown into one of the largest human service organizations inWestchester County, responding to the evolving needs of our community with compassion, expertise, anddedication. The challenges faced by those we serve continue to grow, but thanks to the generosity andcommitment of individuals like Joel and Gillian, WJCS remains a pillar of strength, resilience, and hope. Joel S. Beckman has been a steadfast advocate for WJCS, serving on our Board and contributing his expertiseto numerous committees, including Children & Youth Services, Budget & Finance, and DEI. His leadership andphilanthropy extend far beyond WJCS, enriching organizations dedicated to education, Jewish life, and globalhumanitarian efforts. Gillian Rittmaster has spent her career ensuring that individuals and families navigating critical illness,caregiving, and bereavement receive the care and guidance they need. Her years at WJCS, where she ledessential mental health and wellness initiatives, have left a lasting impact on countless lives. Through hercontinued clinical consulting for WJCS, she remains deeply involved in supporting the well-being of ourcommunity. MENTAL HEALTH WJCS, the largest not-for-profit provider of licensed outpatient mental healthservices in Westchester, offers evidence-based treatment to thousands of individuals of all agesstruggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, co-occurring disorders, and other mental healthchallenges.TRAUMA The renowned WJCS Trager Lemp Center for Trauma & Resilience provides traumatreatment and resilience-building programs to adult and child survivors of sexual abuse anddomestic and community violence as well as individuals who have suffered from other traumaticexperiences.INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WJCS offers individuals with intellectual anddevelopmental disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum, social activities, skill-buildingclasses, vocational guidance, emotional support services, and community residences.CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES WJCS provides “cradle to college” programming, includingearly literacy, after-school enrichment, violence prevention, and anti-bullying education.SENIOR CARE WJCS senior services support older adults, allowing them to age safely and well intheir homes and communities, whenever possible.JEWISH COMMUNITY WJCS is the 4-1-1 and 9-1-1 for the Westchester Jewish community.Programming includes mental health support for Jewish youth, holiday celebrations for individualswith special needs, support groups and socialization for Holocaust survivors and their families,kosher home-delivered meals to seniors, and on-site counseling and educational programs tosynagogues, day schools, nursery schools, and assisted living centers.HEALTH & HEALING Support services include programming for individuals and families facingchronic or life-limiting illness, counseling, support groups, and resource referrals for caregivers andthose coping with loss and bereavement.Fast FactsFast Facts

Honoring Joel S. BeckmanHonoring Joel S. BeckmanJoel S. Beckman co-founded Greenbriar Equity Group, a private investment firm, in1999 and retired in 2017. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director and Partner atGoldman Sachs. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A. from theUniversity of Rochester, where he is a Trustee Emeritus. He is currently a board memberof Westchester Jewish Community Services, co-chair of Friends of JCC Budapest, amember of the Board of Advisors of the Yale Law School Center for the Study ofCorporate Law, and a board member of Brave Generation, an organization founded tohelp Ukrainian students further their college and graduate school education in theUnited States. He previously served as a board member of UJA-Federation of New York,Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, the Chordoma Foundation, SteppingStone DaySchool, and several other philanthropic organizations.Joel is married to Shari and together they have two sons, Steve and Jake, twodaughters-in-law, Amanda and Alisa, and six grandchildren, Levi, Stella, Asher, Riley,Gracie, and Autumn.

Gillian Rittmaster, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practicebased in Rye, NY, where she specializes in supporting individuals and families navigatingcritical and chronic illness, caregiving, end-of-life issues, and bereavement. With over adecade of experience at Westchester Jewish Community Services in White Plains, NY,Gillian continues her impactful work through clinical consulting for WJCS.As former Assistant Executive Director of WJCS Jewish Programs and Health and HealingSupport Services, Gillian oversaw the Holocaust Survivor Program, caregiver supportservices for loved ones caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia,bereavement services, and community-based palliative care. She also facilitated mentalhealth and wellness programs for over 25 synagogues, day schools, and JCCsthroughout Westchester County, ensuring these institutions received critical support inaddressing the needs of their communities.Gillian holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Artsfrom the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
