A Remarkable Life Journey Benjamin Scott, 84, son of the late Mr. Julian Scott, Sr. and Ms. Mary Lou Walls, was born on August 2, 1940, in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Benjamin received his education in the Jasper County Public Schools system and graduated from Jasper County High School. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War on August 16, 1963, serving his country with honor and dedication. After his military service, Benjamin pursued a career in masonry by enrolling at Savannah Technical College, where he earned his certification. He worked as a brick mason and later established his own business, completing various building projects throughout Georgia and South Carolina. With over 40 years of experience, he retired as a respected craftsman and entrepreneur. On April 1, 1966, Benjamin married his loving and supportive wife, Gertrude Stoney. Together, they shared 59 years of marriage filled with love, faith, and mutual respect. Benjamin was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou Walls, his father Julian Scott Sr. and his son Elder Randolph Ben Scott, Sr. He peacefully entered eternal rest on May 18, 2025, at his home in Savannah, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family and devoted wife. He Leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife Gertrude Scott; daughter, Selena Johnson; sons, Larry Bryant, Harry (Yarlanda) Scott, Ahmad (Ashley) Scott; sisters, Joan (Samuel) Jenkins and Janice (Percy) Tattnall; brother, Ronald (Janice) Scott; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
