FRP s President s Club Trip to San Diego April 24 27 2023 created lasting memories that may be talked about for years to come The Marriott Resort and Spa on Coronado Island overlooked the skyline of San Diego just across the bay It provided a beautiful backdrop for our winners and guests Coronado is also the home base for our U S Navy Navy Seals could be seen heading out for training and sights of various jets copters and ships were plentiful To kick off the trip all guests were given a choice of the latest Maui Jim sunglasses so they could enjoy their stay in style The band rocked the night away as our guests got to know one another better The next day our guests enjoyed one of the many excursions available to them including food tours golf deep sea fishing sailboat sightseeing San Diego Zoo and even surfing lessons Rumor has it the surf pro ended up being the one getting the lesson as Charlie Lydecker imparted his wisdom as they rode the waves Guests were able to keep up with all the action as they shared their photos and videos on a special events app that brought everyone together

Each night it seemed a good many would gather in the lobby bar for a final final as some might call it One of those impromptu experiences included Jeff and Jennifer Wilson ARMSRx on guitar and flute respectively treating us to a special sing along On our final night the group was shuttled to the Midway the 968 foot aircraft carrier turned museum for dinner The cocktail reception harkened back to the 40 s with an Andrews Sisters tribute group belting out the swinging songs that were famously enjoyed by the greatest generation Guests were then lifted to the flight deck in grand fashion where they could explore vintage aircraft and enjoy a fantastic dinner with various food stations and the sounds of one of San Diego s finest bands Charlie reminded us all how lucky we were to enjoy our freedom through the sacrifices of the men and women of our armed services Throughout the crowd there were volunteers who had served in various wars who welcomed our applause and appreciation for their sacrifices The emotional speech was a fitting conclusion to our stay in San Diego Of course the party never really ends until the final final Folks returned home with new memories new friends and an eye towards next year s trip to the Cayman Islands A special thanks to Jessica Parkhurst and Destiny Hicks for all their hard work and coordination of this fantastic event FRP S 2022 PRESIDENT S CLUB U S S MIDWAY SAN DIEGO CA 26 APRIL 2023 18 00
