About Us One Omaha’s mission is to empower people where they live through education, training and engagement to develop thriving neighborhoods. We value inclusive participation in the growth of our communities and are passionate about enhancing the quality of life in our city. We benet Omaha by addressing the lack of capacity in neighborhoods and helping residents gain greater control of their own development. Our impact builds human, technical and conceptual skills to sustain civic and community eorts to achieve a resident-led vision for Omaha's neighborhoods.
From The Ground Up The Series From the Ground Up is One Omaha’s community building speaker series designed to empower residents with the knowledge, resources and connections they need to shape the future of their neighborhoods and drive transformative growth. The series is free to attend and open to all residents of Omaha’s 180+ neighborhoods. Attendees will leave feeling equipped with practical tools to address community concerns and cultivate innovative solutions. Content & Format This year, the series focuses on the most pressing issue identied by Omaha residents - environmental justice. Attendees will learn about: Identifying environmental justice issues in Omaha and policies Various community actions and design choices that can address these issues Panel discussions among qualied topic experts and neighborhood organizers will provide insights and strategies attendees can use to actively participate in decision-making processes in their communities. Takeaways Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of: Environmental justice concepts Neighborhood organizing concepts The dierent ways policies can aect change How neighborhood organizing can aect change An understanding of dierent EJ projects in Omaha and the surrounding area including: Local foods Clean waterways Healthy soils Clean air
Location & Schedule Partnering with the Benson Theatre From the Ground Up will take place at the iconic Benson Theatre, a historic venue committed to engaging and empowering the Omaha community. By aligning our missions, our partnership will resonate with attendees and amplify our collective impact toward developing thriving neighborhoods throughout our city.
