Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;Where there is hatred, let me sow love;Where there is injury, pardon;Where there is doubt, faith;Where there is despair, hope;Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master,Grant that I may not so much seekTo be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we receive,It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.Amen.Peace Prayer of Saint Francis

The students, we accompany today, are our future and therefore we can at no point stop believing in them and therefore our duty to walk with them towards excellence. We at St. Francis School, Baraut have made every effort to design our education system in such a manner so as to give opportunities and exposure to the students to develop various skills believing that creativity is the backbone of any individual who desires success. Creativity is the ability to look at whatever one does in a different way. If we apply our mind and think of many options that we did not think before, we would be pleasantly surprised at the range of options that are available to us which we had not considered feasible. May every student who passes through the portals of SFS, Baraut create a unique place for themselves in the society. Many congratulation to Fr. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” -Nelson Mandela Education is often considered to be a means of getting white collar jobs, earning money, enjoying a royal life, etc,. In fact, the scope of education spans beyond the confines of this limited belief! Education turns out to be more fruitful and meaningful when it is used to make progressive changes in society, country and the world at large. In a broader perspective, education implies the holistic development of a child. The definition is not restricted to academic achievements; it also includes taking up initiatives for a better tomorrow with a disciplined way of life. Education plays a vital role in the character development of a person. It instills values such as integrity, responsibility, empathy, compassion etc., in a person, molding him/her into an ethical and responsible citizen. An educated person tends to develop a sense of responsibility towards society, the environment and humanity. Education makes a person more humane which is the ultimate aim of human life. Julie Payettee says: “Education is the foundation of all we do in life. It helps us to be who we are and what we aspire to be”. At St. Francis School, we believe that every child is a gift of God and excellence is the way of life. Keeping the same in mind, we impart value-based education and provide the children ample opportunities to explore themselves and thrive in exuberance. FRANS LITERATI-24 is a part of that endless self-discovery! Dear young minds, I encourage your creative journey. The beacon of the future is in your hand! I take this opportunity to thank God Almighty for His benevolence and the numerous blessings God has showered upon our institution. I also appreciate the staff for their indomitable spirit and unwavering support for the progress of our institution.May The Almighty God Bless you all for your brighter future!!!Vice-Principal,Fr. Joseph Soren T.O.R.10

COORDINATOR'S MESSAGESR LEEZA SJSM A better world awaits us! Today is the age of start-ups. Creativity and innovation rule the workspace. Dealing with the students we have realised that they are filled with innovative ideas which are ready to be explored. To mentor such batches of students to walk into various career industries is a risk-taking attempt and indeed it is worth taking. We must give our children the freedom to choose their career path. Having said that, it is crucial for our children to be informed with adequate knowledge and to take calculated risks with regular monitoring. Are we as educators and parents able to keep pace with the innovative and enterprising young minds? Are we prepared to encourage our children to take risk and follow their passion? Are we prepared to let go of our aspirations for our children? As educators we offer young minds a pure ambience within the school in order to be passionate towards their surroundings, and inculcate values, beliefs and healthy habits in them. At St. Francis School, we empower students to unleash their potential and shape their futures through education, the corner stone of personal growth. Our approach fosters confidence, self-expression, critical thinking, creativity, compassion, empathy, resilience and perseverance. I am incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and commitment each student has shown in contributing to this magazine. Students' stories, ideas, and creativity have come together to create something truly special. It stands as a testament to their hard work and the vibrant community we have built together. It is not only a reflection of the spirit, dedication, and talents of our students but also captures the essence of their journey, highlighting the unique experiences and milestones that have defined this year. Rumy says “Believe in yourself, take the leap of faith and watch the universe conspire to make your dreams a reality”. I dream for every child, and each child, a future full of hope, promise and limitless possibilities. May their presence make a difference, inspiring others to strive for excellence and create a better world.I wish you all a wonderful school year.11ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL, BARAUT

ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL, Baraut, is an English Medium Co-Educational School, led by the Franciscan Fathers and brothers who are members of the Third Order Regular (T.O.R) of St. Francis of Assisi, after whom the school is named. It is governed by the Franciscan Society which is a religious and Charitable Organization registered under the Societies' Registration Act 1860. The T.O.R Franciscans run several schools in India and abroad in which young people belonging to every creed, social class, community, and linguistic group are educated through the medium of English and the regional languages. These Institutions are part of the Catholic Church's effort to share in the country's educational undertaking. This effort, while particularly responsible to the Christian community, has always been at the service of the whole nation. Thus, in these institutions, recognized as Christian minority institutions, the primary purpose is to educate Christian children, however, admission to the school is open to all. The religious beliefs of all students are treated with respect. The ambiance inside the campus is serene and salubrious which facilitates a proper environment for education and fruitful training of life. St. Francis School arms every student with the strength and depth of character that enables him/ her to face the ercely competitive world of today with ease and condence. The institution has a holistic approach to education whereby the scholastic performance of the pupil is reinforced by the Human, Christian and Franciscan Ideals of universal brotherhood, love, peace, joy, and kindness in which the school explicitly believes. Exemplary discipline, outstanding academic performance and excellence in co-curricular activities are hallmarks of every St. Francis Student. ABOUT OUR SCHOOL12

BL HO: CO I AC At St. Francis School, Baraut, Blue House has always been a symbol of excellence, unity, and collective strength. This year, we proudly embraced the theme "Compassion in Action" as a guiding force, shaping our activities, achievements, and interactions. As the house in-charge, I've had the privilege of witnessing how compassion has become the foundation of our house, transforming not just the way we compete but also the way we live, learn, and support each other. Compassion is more than just a virtue; it is the core of human connection. It encourages us to step beyond our individual needs and extend kindness, understanding, and care to others. In Blue House, we believe that true success is not measured solely by victories but by the impact we have on those around us. Compassion allows us to bridge differences, uplift one another, and contribute meaningfully to our school and the wider community. Compassion in Action has been our motto, and we have strived to put it into practice in everything we do, from sports to academics to community service. What makes Blue House truly special is our sense of community. We are more than just a group of students striving for success; we are a family united by shared values. Our theme of "Compassion in Action" has allowed us to foster an environment where every member feels valued and supported. Whether we're competing, studying, or participating in community service, we are always there for each other, ready to offer a helping hand or a kind word. Our students have learned that compassion is not just about grand gestures—it's about everyday actions. It's in the way we encourage each other to keep going when the going gets tough, the way we celebrate each other's achievements, and the way we learn from our mistakes with grace and understanding. As we move forward, Blue House will continue to carry the torch of compassion. Our achievements this year have shown us that compassion is not only a moral responsibility but also a strength that empowers us to be better individuals and a better community. We have set a strong example within our school, and we hope to inspire others to adopt compassion as a way of life. In the years to come, we will remain dedicated to living out the principles of empathy, kindness, and care. Whether in academic pursuits, sporting events, or community projects, Blue House will always strive to lead with compassion, making a positive difference in the lives of others. Losing a loved one is an incredibly challenging experience, and the impact resonates throughout the lives of those left behind. This has been the case for a family that has faced an immense tragedy with the loss of the father. Two years ago, this individual took his own life, leaving behind a wife, two children, and aging parents. The children, who were in the 5th and 7th grades at the time, have had to cope not only with the emotional burden of their father's absence but also with the daily struggles of their academic and social lives. Their mother, already grappling with the weight of the loss, had found herself juggling the responsibilities of raising her children while also caring for her in-laws, who were advanced in age. The complexities of the situation were compounded by the difficulties the children were facing at their hostel. The stress of their academic environment, coupled with the emotional strain of their father's death, had led to noticeable behavioural changes. One poignant example is the elder child's recent struggle with a personal relationship, which she shared with her sibling; her feelings were met with concern and caution from her family, reflecting the protective and caring environment that they were trying to maintain despite their challenges. The emotional distress of the children had been evident in their interactions, including their reluctance to engage in family communication. This was particularly highlighted during a recent parents' meeting at the hostel, where the elder child's refusal to communicate with her family members was a source of worry. The child's behaviour and emotional state underscores the depth of her internal struggle and the impact of their father's absence on her mental health. In these trying times, the family needs to come together, offering mutual support and understanding. The absence of a guiding parent figure and the added pressure on the mother to balance her responsibilities make this a particularly fragile period. The family must seek professional help if needed, for both the children's emotional well-being and the overall family dynamics. Grief is a journey that each individual experiences differently, and while there is no one-size-fits-all solution, communication, and open communication can pave the way for healing. The story of this family is a testament to the challenges that arise in the wake of loss and the resilience required to navigate such turbulent waters. In the face of adversity, the support of the family and the community remains a vital pillar of strength.NAVIGATING GRIEF AND FAMILY CHALLENGES: A HEARTFELT REFLECTIONSR. RANI MARIASJSM29ST. “Arise, awake and stop not until the goal is reached.” -Swami Vivekananda Dynamic and young people are important to society because they can drive progress, innovation and development. They are the future of a society and can make a difference in the lives of others. They are the leaders of tomorrow, equipped with skills and intelligence. . Their role in building a nation is of at most importance. Nation building refers to constructing or structuring a national identity using the power of a state. It also involves developing infrastructure of a country, enhancing its economy, politics and standard of living for its entire people. It aims to create a nation where poverty and corruption are minimized, allowing individuals to live and enjoy their rights without fear. Youth who are passionate about their work have a significant role in decision making. Improving technology has significantly contributed to nation building as it is essential for progress in the modern era. Technological advancements have made nations economically independent and competitive on a global scale. Moreover, political stability is crucial for nation building and youth with their leadership skills can help achieve the same by engaging in civic activities and promoting social justice. Young people can drive positive changes and contribute to a more inclusive society. Discrimination among the people of a nation, based on religion, caste and economic classes must be addressed as it takes nation years back. The youth should take up a relentless initiative to ensure the equality of all.It is rightly said: “Today's children are tomorrow's citizens” The statement is true as a nation is completely dependent on its youth for its development and stability. Thus, empowering youth not only strengthens the foundation of nation but also ensures a brighter future for all.THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN NATION BUILDINGSAANVI BALIYANCLASS X B32

Bullying has been a persistent problem in schools for generations in all over the world. Bullying in schools takes various forms, each leaves lasting impacts on those involved. It refers to a pattern of aggressive behavior that creates an imbalance of power between the bully and the victim. The main features of bullying are: The actions are designed to harm or intimidate, it occurs repeatedly over time, rather than as a one-time event. The bully generally possesses greater power, whether physical, social, or psychological, compared to the victim. Physical bullying, the most obvious type, involves actions like hitting, kicking, or pushing the victim. Although it tends to attract attention and intervention, it represents just one aspect of a larger issue. Another prevalent form is verbal bullying, where individuals use insults, teasing, or derogatory remarks to belittle their peers. While physical injuries may heal, the emotional harm caused by verbal abuse can have lasting effects on a student's self-esteem and mental well-being. Creating a bullying-free campus necessitates clear and strict anti-bullying policies that are consistently enforced. When students are aware that serious consequences exist for bullying, they are less likely to engage in such behavior. Schools should implement a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, specifying the consequences for offenders, which may include detention, counseling, or suspension. However, merely punishing the bully is insufficient. Schools should also prioritize rehabilitation, helping bullies understand the motivations behind their actions and providing constructive alternatives for expressing their emotions. Counseling and meditation play a crucial role in this process, allowing both the bully and the victim to address their issues in a safe environment. A key component of fostering a bullying-free campus is education and awareness. Schools need to inform students, teachers, and parents about the various forms of bullying, its consequences, and the importance of taking action against it. Anti-bullying campaigns and workshops can help to raise awareness and change the school's attitude toward bullying. Teachers and administrators are essential to this effort. They should undergo regular training to recognize signs of bullying and learn effective intervention strategies. Early detection is vital in preventing minor incidents from escalating into more serious issues. Additionally, schools should create opportunities for students to discuss bullying openly, ensuring that victims feel supported and that bullies recognize the harm they inflict. A positive school culture that prioritizes respect, inclusion, and empathy is indeed foundational. Social-emotional learning programs are particularly effective in equipping students with the skills they need to navigate social interactions and handle conflicts constructively. In addition, building strong relationships between students and teachers can create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable seeking help and reporting bullying incidents. Moreover, regular discussions about bullying can help normalize the conversation and empower students to speak up. Schools might consider organizing workshops or assemblies that focus on empathy, respect, and the impact of bullying. Nick Vujicic in his book "Stand Strong: You Can Overcome Bullying" focuses specifically on the issues of bullying. He shares his own experiences of being bullied, offers practical guidance for young people who are being bullied. The book highlights themes of resilience, self-worth, and the significance of standing up for oneself and others. Nick encourages readers to cultivate a strong sense of identity and provides strategies for combating bullying, promoting a culture of kindness and support. As he continues to inspire and encourages, his heartfelt messages aim to empower individuals to overcome adversity and inspire positive change in their communities. At this present situation, establishing a bullying-free campus is both attainable and essential for the well-being of students and the overall school atmosphere. By prioritizing education, awareness, stringent policies, and a culture of empathy and respect, schools can significantly reduce bullying incidents and help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Despite the challenges, the advantages of a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment make the effort invaluable. AUGUSTINE LAWRENCE Time is the most precious thing in one's life; it can neither be bought nor created. Every moment of our life holds great significance and value. The memories made once cannot be recreated. Making the best use of time is our primary responsibility. Every day is a new beginning for us. Time passes quickly through each second, minute, and hour, waiting for no one. Time management is the art of making the best use of time without wasting it. Time, once wasted, is lost forever. Hence, effective time management plays a pivotal role in everyone's life. Time should be used for the important things in our lives. The more efficiently we use our time, the easier tasks become, and the more we achieve in life. Time management makes life easier. Life is a journey. Reaching our life's destination is impossible without proper time management. Make use of every moment in life wisely. Do not postpone what can be done today until tomorrow.“Yesterday is gone. A person is not born as a topper, but practice and hard work make him/her to become one. A lot of students have this misconception that they can never become top performers just because they have always been average students. There is a very fine line between a topper and an average student. The line can be broken with proper discipline and a good approach.39ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL, BARAUT

Once, a doctor, a scientist, a District Magistrate and a politician were sipping hot cup of tea in a village tea shop discussing the recent developments and political issues. During the conversation they picked up an argument- who is the most powerful and influential person in the society? The doctor argued “I save life of people, I cure them.”The scientist retaliated, “we have landed on the moon because of scientists”.The district magistrate was not ready to give up. He said, ”I take decisions for the development of the district and the people”Politician shouted, “I am influencing people and young generation in a productive manner”After a while, the old man who was sitting in one corner of the tea shop said that none of them was so great as a teacher. He was their teacher he had taught them for long. After listening to the old man's words, the four men realised that a teacher is greater and more powerful. The most exciting and joyful phase, yet often thought to be the most tense and excruciating one in a man's life, is school. This building, with many classrooms, numerous windows, and plenty of fans is where a child learns each and every concept. Yes, from writing alphabets to long genres, from writing numbers to solving complex calculus, this is also true for mental and cognitive skills. The first thing a child learns is to wish their teachers “good morning,” and then that same child becomes capable of judging a person's emotions through their words. However, it is somewhat unjust to divide school life into just one part. In fact, School can be divided into various periods. Let's discuss them.Tiny tots—their ideas, behaviour, and ethics are completely different from those of any other age group. It is the age when a child considers his/her teachers above his/her parents. Yes, it is a bitter truth that the child who once cried to go to school begins to love it. It is that era when a child blindly believes his/her teachers. If they say to bring a new long pencil, that is final. Next comes the group where the child begins to question teachers about lessons, parents about life, and others about everything nonsense. But it is a homecoming,a homecoming for the soul that again finds satisfaction and trust at home. Finally comes the age when a child finds joy in everything they should not. They become bored with everything they are supposed to be interested in. I know this well because I have a fresh experience of all these phases. But the point is: Are schools really only for education, studies, and learning life lessons? Yes, I agree that these are important, but they are not the only important aspects. School is a time for experimentation, a kind of laboratory for a child where they can test themselves in various fields. No one is going to give a written testament that they are a failure. Someone might mock or tease you, but that is not permanent. If the same child excels in other areas, he/she will be hero-worshipped—it's as simple as that.In the third phase of school life, I mentioned that a child finds joy in things he/she should not. This same observation is the birthplace of a keen interest in co-curricular activities and various events. Sometimes, a fancy building, good infrastructure, and excellent teachers are not enough to contain an imaginative mind within four walls. You have to offer something competitive, something that requires hard work, nurtures talent, and also serves as a source of enjoyment and pleasure. In the second and third weeks of September, our school conducted various inter-school competitions in different sports. That period was such a happy time, not only for the players who wanted to showcase their talents but also for those who wished their house would fly in flying colours. We missed many lectures during that time, but was that a waste of time? Purely not, and the reason is clear.Through this long essay, the conclusion I derive is that all the activities held in school—sports meets, annual functions, educational trips, charity drives, co-curricular activities, various cultural programs, and even assemblies—are integral to achieving academic excellence. If we neglect them, our school life would then turn out to be merely a tuition centre, where you sit, attend, and go.School as a phenomenon-Explained42

After a few minutes, SIRA returned with a small ball. The ball had marked two lines intersecting each other forming an intriguing design. Natasha took the ball and moved red line away from the blue making them parallel. A green button raised between them and Ayan pressed it. The ball started floating in air and turned upside down. Then, a hologram of the book came from the ball. They could turn pages by swiping the hologram. They swiped the first page, it was written “D.K Jain” In bold letters. They couldn't stunderstand it's meaning. SIRA, the Edubot told them that in 21 century writer used to write his name on the front page. Then they swiped the pages one by one and were shocked and surprised st to learn about the schools in 21 century. On one page it was written, “we studied all together in the same class, our teacher was very strict...”. Natasha said in surprise, “How can students learn the same chapters at the same time? Students study according to their understanding.”st They came to know that in 21 century students used to study in a building known as School”, In each school there were different classes according to the age group. All the students used to study same things at the same time and gave examinations too. According to the marks scored students were promoted to the next classes. They were also taken to the theme parks, educational trips and tours for fun. Also, there were many physical activities like cricket, football, basketball, swimming, shooting, etc. Even tournaments were held for such activities. Ayan and Natasha were too surprised to know about the schools. Their edubot informed that it was the time for their edurel. They both took their materials and went in their education room instead of today's schools.Schools In 21st centuryP JI-A In the year 2174, There were two siblings Ayan and Natasha discovering their great Grandfather's chest. In my darkest timeSometimes, I feel so lost and small,Like there's no one here at all. My mind is heavy, my heart feels weak, I wish I could find the words to speak. It's hard to show the pain inside,So I sit alone and try to hide But maybe there's someone, who will understand, Someone to hold, to take my hand.I want to stay, I want to fight,And maybe tomorrow, I will see the light. It was dark everywhere. “Who is there?” I asked, sitting in the corner of the classroom. From there, I could see an unusual shadow on the classroom door. I moved with trembling steps toward that unusual gure. As I came near it, the darkness around me started to increase gradually, making my eyes completely blind. Suddenly, that gure grabbed my right hand and tried to pull me out of the classroom. But somehow, I managed to close the door and hide in the same corner again. When that gure was pulling me, from what little I could see, I noticed that unlike a human, it had seven ngers and a half-cut thumb. I was terried. Now I decided not to move out of the classroom and to wait until morning. I sat there for hours and took a small nap. It amazed me that in such a scary environment, I could actually fall asleep. Then, from the second oor, a sound came: “Leave me, help me.” I decided to go down, but I hesitated. This was the time for me to care only for myself and not for others. After a few minutes, the sound came again, and it was continuous. Then I decided to check what the matter was. I started with trembling steps. Normally, I would have been okay, but this time I was not. It felt like I was in the middle of a sea experiencing cyclones and thunderstorms. Now I reached the second oor. I moved in the direction of that sound. When I got near it, the noise stopped, and I saw the same gure that had grabbed my hand. It was making the same noise, standing on its feet, facing me. “Who are you?” I shouted, stepping backward as it moved toward me. I saw that it had a half-broken face, with blood coming out of its nose and eyes. It stared at me, trying to get close. I pulled back, trying to keep my distance. It moved faster, and I noticed that its hands were hanging down, but the one on the right had a half-cut thumb. It was trying to grab me. I screamed, and it disappeared. I sat down in the corner, exhausted and trembling. I laughed a little out of nervousness, but I knew I had to move out. I waited until dawn. When I looked out of the window, the sky was clear. I left the school basement, realizing that this place was haunted. The Horror ChasePUNIT SINGHVIII-B On my way to the school gate, walking up the stairs, suddenly the same gure appeared in front of me. My body froze, and it felt like I had lost control over it. I woke up when my friend sprinkled water on my face.57ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL, BARAUT

A BOLT FROM THE BLUE It's all about the freezing winter in Sikkim, a really tough and chilling time. Ayesha and I, my bosom friend, went for exploring something new from the scorching, sweaty summer of Rajasthan. Our destination was Sikkim. I knew it's colder but better than the place of my origin. The night before our departure, everything was perfectly fine. All the preparations were all most done. We were selecting our dresses for the next day. My friend's choice was pretty cool; I asked her to choose my dress too. The excitement did not last. All of a sudden, a phone call came. I picked up the phone. A weeping voice came. “Hello, can I speak to Ayesha?”F ZI-A When Ayesha answered the call, she fainted! I got worried and tried to talk on the phone but the call was declined. After a while, Ayesha came back to her self. I asked her, “What happened?” She answered weepingly in a low voice, I have lost my mother.” I could feel her pain from the tears rolling down her cheeks. I comforted her saying that God's plans cannot be stopped or denied.A news was flashing on the TV screen. It was about the huge loss of men and material in Sikkim due to a destructive landslide. After some time Ayesha became quiet and accepted the situation. We both went to her house. After completing the rituals, I came back home and was thinking…“Whatever happens, good or bad, only happens for good.”stSchools in 21 CenturyWhere Technology meets the day,Tables have screens and tablets glow,As we learn in a modern way,In the 21st century school. Once upon a time, there was a boy named Virat. He often played football alone by the river, as he didn't have any friends. One day, while he kicked the ball back and forth, he suddenly heard voices. Curious and a little scared, he followed the sound and discovered a group of elephants, but not just any elephants—they were vibrant in colour and had large, gleaming tusks. As Virat approached, an elephant named Chiku noticed him and asked, “What's that in your hand?” Virat replied, “It's a football.” The other elephants looked at each other in confusion. Intrigued, Virat asked, “How can you all talk?” They explained they were magical elephants from a different planet, visiting Earth to explore. Chiku's eyes sparkled with excitement. “Can you teach us how to play football?” he asked. Virat, thrilled by the idea of sharing his favourite game, eagerly agreed. They played together, laughing and having fun. But then, Chiku slipped and fell into the river! Thinking quickly, Virat reached out and grabbed Chiku's trunk. The other elephants formed a chain, and together they pulled Chiku back to safety. “Thank you, Virat!” Chiku exclaimed, grateful for his new friend.Just then, a large elephant wearing a crown stomped over. “I told you not to talk to humans!” he thundered. “They can be dangerous!” Chiku stood his ground. “But Virat saved me! Not all humans are bad; some can be friends!” Virat looked up at the leader with wide, innocent eyes. The leader softened, realizing that Virat had shown kindness. He thanked Virat for rescuing Chiku and said, “I'm grateful for your bravery. What do you wish for?” Virat smiled shyly and replied, “I just want true friends to play and enjoy with.” Chiku bounced with excitement. “I'll be your best friend! Climb on my back, and I'll take you to my world!” Overjoyed, Virat climbed onto Chiku's back. Together, they soared into the sky, exploring the vibrant land of the magical elephants. Chiku promised to visit every day to play football and share adventures. As they flew, Virat thought to himself, “This is the best day of my life!” He thanked the elephants for their friendship and looked forward to many joyful days ahead.Chiku- The Talking ElephantNAVYAVIII-C65ST. Kritika was a star student in her school. She was always ranked 2nd in her class. This time, she scored 97%, but still secured second place. She was very happy, but when she showed her results to her parents, instead of praising and appreciating her, they shouted and scolded her. "Is this why we pay fees? Loser, you always come 2nd. You are such a disappointment," they said. Kritika stormed off to her room, threw herself on the bed, and looked at her report card with tears rolling down her cheeks. Ever since she was little, she had always come second in class, sports, or any competition. Her parents were extremely unhappy about it. That night, she couldn't sleep. In the morning, as she sat at the table for breakfast, her mother scolded her again. She left the table and went to school. The whole day at school, she was silent. Her best friend, Anikha, noticed and asked her what was wrong. Kritika hugged Anikha, and with tears in her eyes, she opened her heart. After listening to everything that happened, Anikha said, "This is not right. You should not tolerate this kind of behaviour. You worked very hard." She added, "You should confront your parents," and further mentioned, "My parents are always there to support me, so I am very happy." When Kritika returned home that evening, her mother and father again started taunting her. Then, suddenly, something inside Kritika snapped. She said, "All these years, I have been working hard, every second of the day and night. Sometimes, I even stopped playing or watching movies just to score good marks, hoping to hear you say, 'Good job, Kritika. We are very proud of you.' But instead, all I hear are complaints." Then she started crying. Her parents, realizing their mistake, remained silent. The next day, when Kritika woke up, her parents surprised her with a cake to celebrate her success. They also said, "Sorry, my love, we promise to stand with you in your achievements." Kritika was overjoyed. She told her parents about an upcoming quiz competition. Her parents supported and motivated her to such an extent that she ended up winning the competition at the state level. This time, she came first. When she was receiving the trophy, she looked at her parents, whose faces lit up with pride. Her parents said, "We are the proudest parents in the world to have a daughter like you. We love you, dear."TIYA RANAVIII-BA Hug From My Parents66

Everybody often dreams of becoming a cricketer, inspired by the excitement and passion that the sport brings. Cricket is not just a game; it's a way of life for many, especially in countries where the sport holds a special place in the hearts of millions. From a young age, boys pick up a bat and ball, imitating their favourite players—whether it's hitting sixes like MS Dhoni or bowling like Jasprit Bumrah. The thrill of playing in the streets or local grounds, dreaming of representing their country, fuels their passion.FROM STREET CRICKET TO STADIUM LIGHTS: THE DREAM OF EVERY BOYJYOTI TOMARXI-AThe camaraderie shared with friends during matches fosters teamwork and sportsmanship, important values that extend beyond the cricket field. “Every great cricketer starts as a dreamer on the streets, where passion meets the promise of the stadium.” The dream of donning the national jersey and playing in front of packed stadiums is a powerful motivator, pushing them to strive for excellence. Moreover, cricket offers a platform for boys to showcase their talent and potentially secure scholarships or opportunities to play at higher levels. With the rise of various leagues and tournaments, the pathway to becoming a professional cricketer has become more accessible, making the dream more attainable. In essence, the dream of becoming a professional cricketer is about more than just the sport—it's about the journey, the friendships, and the life lessons learned along the way. Everybody who dreams of being a cricketer is not just chasing a career; he is pursuing a passion that can lead to personal growth and fulfilment. Our beliefs act as the foundation upon which we build our decisions, actions, and outcomes. If you believe you are capable of achieving things, you are more likely to persevere through challenges, take risks, and recognize opportunities. Ultimately, this belief can lead to success. Conversely, if you believe success is out of reach, you might subconsciously sabotage your efforts or fail to see potential paths forward. Beliefs have a tangible impact on our reality. The universe is constantly responding to the energy you emit through your thoughts, beliefs, and actions. You can begin to reshape your reality from the inside by working on what you believe and focussing on what you want to create. Through the power of belief, you can figure out what is most important and take action towards it.Think About What You Believe!ANJU TOMAR67ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL, BARAUT

In many countries, a significant percentage of women still lack access to education. In many regions, especially in rural areas, girls are often expected to take on household responsibilities instead of pursuing their studies. Despite these barriers, there are many successful women who have proven that nobody in society can stunt their growth unless they allow it. Women are much stronger than they seem. Despite all efforts, women are still unsafe in our country. Many people compare men to women and often claim that men are more talented because men are perceived as more successful in our country. The reason behind this is that men generally have access to safer environments. They can easily go wherever they want at any time. In contrast, women's safety remains a significant concern, which hinders their ability to grow. Higher authorities should take proper measures to ensure women's safety so that every woman can go to any place at any time without thinking twice. Still, women should take precautions to protect themselves, such as:· Using trusted transportation· Keeping emergency contacts· Traveling in groups· Ensuring secure living spaces· Using personal safety apps We often say that women are the biggest enemies of each other, which is why women in our society are still deprived of many opportunities. Women should support each other and work together to protect their rights. Supporting one another helps build strength and confidence, making it easier to challenge unfair treatment. Together, women can ensure their voices are heard and fight for a better future for all. It is often said that "God helps those who help themselves." Everyone should unite and fight for their rights instead of blaming higher authorities. In conclusion, the empowerment and development of women are crucial for building a just and equitable society. Education serves as a foundational pillar, enabling women to gain knowledge, protect their rights, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Safety measures are essential to create an environment where women can live without fear.Educating Women is Essential for Society. When women are educated, they can contribute efficiently to the country and advocate for their rights. Education is very important, not only for women but for all communities in society. It is a basic human right. However, women are often deprived of this basic human right.VANI PANWARX-BN F W E I S70

"Man proposes, but destiny disposes.”We often make plans and set goals for our lives, but ultimately, the course of our life is often guided by forces beyond our control, like fate or divine intervention.Dear Readers,This is the journey of a boy whose dream was to become an army officer, but destiny had a different path mapped out for him, one that transformed him into a beloved teacher.Let's relive the journey once again. From a young age, he was captivated by the idea of serving his country. Inspired by the tales of bravery and valour of soldiers, he dreamt of donning the Indian Army uniform. He was determined to crack the NDA and later the CDS exams, and worked tirelessly toward this goal. His passion for discipline, fitness, and leadership was evident in everything he did. His family and friends saw him as a future officer, someone destined to protect the nation. Despite his dedication and hard work, life had other plans. He faced multiple setbacks in his attempts to clear the NDA and CDS exams. Each failure was a bitter pill to swallow, but he never gave up. Yet, after several attempts, it became clear that his dream might not be realized the way he had imagined. Disheartened, he began to explore other career options, which he had never dreamt of. Each day he cried and felt like it was over for him. Being an army officer was not just a job for him—it was like oxygen. Trying other things felt suffocating. He was clueless and broken inside. During this period of uncertainty, a chance encounter changed his life forever. His mother suggested, "Since you've completed your master's and B.Ed., why don't you try teaching at a school?" At first, the idea seemed strange. He had never thought of himself as a teacher. His mind was still set on the army, and he was worried that teaching was not meant for him. But due to his parents' advice and his increasing age, he decided to give it a shot, thinking it would be a temporary phase. Stepping into the classroom for the first time, he felt a mix of nervousness and curiosity. But as he started interacting with the students, something remarkable happened. He realized that he enjoyed explaining concepts and helping students understand their subjects better. His disciplined background helped him maintain order, and his leadership skills made him a natural mentor. Slowly, he found himself looking forward to each day at school. As weeks turned into months, his bond with his students deepened in ways he had never anticipated. Initially, he had been uncertain, torn between his dreams and the reality of teaching. It wasn't the life he had imagined for himself. But as time passed, he found himself reliving his childhood through the innocent curiosity and boundless energy of his students. Slowly, their laughter, questions, and trust began to heal the doubts he carried within. There were days he questioned if he was truly making a difference, wondering whether this path was meant for him. Yet, every smile and every moment of understanding in his students' eyes chipped away at the uncertainty in his heart. Teaching began to give him a sense of purpose he hadn't known he was searching for. The respect and admiration he received from his students, the quiet acknowledgment from his colleagues, and the unwavering support of the principal made him feel valued in a way he had never experienced before. It was in those quiet moments, when his classroom echoed with the sounds of learning and growth, that he realized his journey had brought him here for a reason. The turmoil he had once felt, the inner conflict about his future, began to fade away. He finally understood: destiny had led him here, to a place where he could not only teach but also heal, inspire, and be inspired. And for the first time in a long time, he felt whole. He realized that his life's purpose was not limited to serving the country in a uniform. By being a teacher, he was shaping the minds and futures of young students who would go on to serve the country in various capacities. He started living the dreams of his students. He always felt that if one of his students achieved his/her dreams under his guidance, his own dream would be fulfilled. He began living for that moment. He loves his school and students—a love that will stay forever. He, no longer saw his role as a compromise but as a calling. His journey from an aspiring army officer to a devoted teacher became a testament to the fact that sometimes, the universe has a greater plan for us than we have for ourselves. The By-Chance Teacher is a story of how embracing unexpected opportunities with an open heart can lead to discovering one's true calling. This journey shows us that sometimes, by chance, we end up exactly where we are meant to be. Thank you and Happy Readings……Having lots of people around you, and still, you feel alone in this crowd. Yeshasvi PanwarXII-AFriendship Friendship is one of the most important parts of our lives, especially during school years. Friends are the people who support us, share our happiness and sorrows, and stand by us during tough times. However, only a very few challenge us to become better people, inspiring us to upgrade our lives and pursue the dreams we have. While family gives us a strong foundation, friends are the ones we choose; we trust them, and they play a big role in shaping who we are as individuals. But when choosing friends, one should be careful, as today's generation often doesn't value the trust they're given. Neither all friends are good nor all are bad. Good friends act like mirrors, showing us things about ourselves we may not notice, including our strengths and flaws. These reflections help us in building our confidence and deepen our understanding of the world around us. Unless someone is introduced to a toxic culture, they won't let a friend's background stand in the way of their friendship. Friends often come from different backgrounds, and by listening to their stories and experiences, we learn to see the world from new perspectives. Friends who have a vision for their future goals teach us kindness and patience, whereas those stuck in their past can teach us about negativity and revenge. Not everyone has an easy life, but it's within our control how we handle situations. Friends are often the reason we try new things, discovering passions as we engage in shared hobbies like art, music, and more. These little experiences with friends can turn into lifelong interests. Not only do they help us find our passions, but they also provide support in life's ups and downs, especially when family may not be able to. True friends become the support system we can always rely on. Friendships are more than just a way to pass time; they influence us until they become a part of who we are. Looking back, we realize how much our friendships have impacted our lives. There is so much love in true friendship, but in today's social media-driven world, people often forget that. One should always choose friends carefully because the wrong people can bring nightmares, while the memories made with the right people are always priceless. Bloom was a pretty young girl who lived in the village,Matran. Her blonde hair fluttered in the air like golden threads. Her deep blue eyes seemed to contain the charm of the whole universe. Despite all her charming attributes, she was born into a very poor family. Bloom was not able to pay her school fees; she attended the government school in her village. From a very young age, she aspired to soar very high in the sky like an eagle. Her dream was to become a pilot. One rainy evening, Bloom was returning home from school. On her way home, she saw a little girl being chased by stray dogs.On seeing the terrifying sight, Bloom mustered some courage, picked up a stick, and frightened the street dogs away. Bloom took the little girl home. The little girl's father took her to hospital. After a few days, when Bloom was playing outside her house, she saw a gentleman approaching her. He was the little girl's father. He wanted to thank and appreciate Bloom as she had saved the life of his little daughter. The gentleman asked Bloom what her passion was. She replied that she wanted to be a pilot. The man informed Bloom's father that he would take care of her studies. Luna asked her supervisor what they should do next. They reviewed the data and found that humanity had only two years, three days, and twenty-nine minutes left. They immediately informed all research institutes and scientists, who decided to build a spacecraft capable of carrying two million people. Over the next five months, work on the spacecraft advanced rapidly. It was equipped with specialized fuel-generation technology, enabling high-speed travel. Luna was tirelessly involved, helping to construct and design the craft. After a year and a half, the spacecraft was complete. It was time to announce this news to the public. The selection process prioritized educated professionals, like doctors and scientists. When the news was finally released, people were shocked and frightened, but they cooperated and stayed calm, accepting that death was inevitable if they stayed on Earth. Everyone who was selected boarded the spacecraft, as only ten days remained. Luna was anxious, unsure if her family had been allowed on board. Finally, the day arrived, and the countdown began. At "3, 2, 1," the spacecraft launched. As it did, Earth's crust split apart behind them. The people onboard were horrified by the view of their dying planet. Amid the emotional grief of losing loved ones, Luna held onto her duties. She checked the passenger list and found her father's name but did not see her mother's. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she searched again, but her mother's name was missing. She located her father in compartment 321409, rushed there, and embraced him, crying. Her father told her that this was not the time to be sad but to help others. He explained that only two members per family could come, and because Luna was already selected, only one of her parents could join her. Before her father could act, her mother had already sacrificed her own place for him. Luna fell silent, struggling with conflicting emotions but grateful to have her father by her side during this trying time. After four long months, they exited the Milky Way and felt a strong gravitational pull. Once they were out, the vastness of outer space astonished everyone on board. The Andromeda Galaxy, their destination, gleamed with billions of stars. After three years of travel through dark space, they reached Andromeda. As they approached, they saw two glowing figures resembling suns, and one of the planets looked remarkably like Earth. They named it US-291353. Two months later, they landed on this Earth-like planet, whose atmosphere was similar to Earth's. Luna and the others were astounded by the lush vegetation and strange creatures. Soon, they encountered a group of humanoid beings with alien features, whom they called Andromedans. Luna wore a language translator and explained their situation, asking for permission to stay on the planet. The Andromedans, understanding their plight, welcomed them. Overwhelmed with relief, Luna and the people of Earth thanked their new hosts, grateful for a second chance on this distant planet. In the year 3169, scientist Luna had been researching Earth's seismic records for three years when she noticed something unusual. Earthquake frequency had increased significantly, the Earth's magnetic field was weakening, and tsunamis were becoming more frequent. She was horrified. Climate change had reached a critical point, and she had never seen anything like it before. Luna quickly informed her supervisor, who was stunned by the findings. They immediately contacted the Earth Core Laboratory (ECL) and reported the changes. The ECL confirmed that they had also detected alarming shifts, potentially leading to global destruction. Luna ended the call in dread, whispering, “Our home is going to end.”SHRESTHAVIII-CUltima Spes Humanitatis – The Last Hope for Humanity94

It was seven o'clock in the evening when we reached Elante Mall in Chandigarh, the biggest in north India. The students seemed excited to explore the shopping paradise. Shagun and I went inside, looked around, glanced at each other for a moment, then turned back to the shops. If we had been here with our parents, we probably would have ended up in one of the clothing shops for sure. We shared this thought with a number of exchanged smiles. Feeling a bit bored, we eventually decided to get ice cream. Shagun prefers chocolate over any other flavour in the world; I was well aware of this as she chose her chocolate-flavored ice cream without hesitation. My mind, however, screamed for cookie-flavored, so that's what I picked. As we wandered around the mall, finishing up our ice creams, we looked for our trip mates, mainly our schoolmates and teachers, to our surprise, found none of them around. However, we didn't panic or lose our composure. We kept roaming, took the escalator, went down to the lower floors, and feeling a bit confused about the layout, I asked one of the employees, “Excuse me, where is the exit of this mall?” He pointed straight ahead, practically perpendicular to our faces, indicating that we were really close to the exit. Shagun remarked, “See, I told you we reached it,” and I hid my impatience by telling her that I was just double-checking. As we headed towards the gate, one of our teachers, who was among the trip chaperones, came over and looked at us as if he were about to give a serious scolding. He even started his sentence in a way that made us think we were in serious trouble, but then he finished in a much more caring tone: “See, you should have stayed aware and been with the group,” he said."Being lost is fun," we said, as we stepped towards the exit.Lost in Elante"Are we lost?" Shagun asked, her eyes welling up as I tried to calm her down. Even though she was actually the one among us who didn't lose her head in the situation, I still had to act like the more concerned and understanding one. Our school had finally taken us on a trip after five or six years straight. It was so exciting for us that we forgot all the grudges we had against the school. They took us to Chandigarh, which is quite explorable for tourists, and we enjoyed a good journey, good food, high enthusiasm, and overall a great trip. The malls in Chandigarh are a gem for shopping enthusiasts.RUPAKSHIIX-A95ST. FRANCIS SCHOOL, BARAUT
