Developed in July and August of 1935, the Federal  Music Project became one of five programs under Federal Project Number One. FMP was created to employ professional musicians registered on the relief rolls as instrumentalists, singers, concert performers, and music teachers.

The purpose of this project was to employ professional musicians.

The Federal music project gave musicians, composers, and conductors jobs. People could go to concerts and not have to pay. Concerts are where people could go during the depression to feel good and not worry.


The FMP ended when the great depression did, although now everyone who wants to have a career in music can.
