Addressing Significant Need One of the main reasons for poverty is inequality Systematic hindrances leave specific groups without resources and opportunities to increase their financial status Education has been proven to help eradicate poverty and create possibilities for advancement For example according to the US Census Bureau about 11 4 of the population in Rhode Island lives in poverty The Financial Literacy Youth Initiative addresses the issues of poverty by providing financial literacy resources to communities that need them the most The FLY initiative is important to me because usually in school we re taught about things that probably won t help us long term but we re not taught about things financial I can help other people in the community with the education that I get from the FLY program FLY student 2
