Keep it discreet! Exercise caution in revealing your travel plans. Inform a trusted neighbor, but refrain from broadcasting your absence to the entire neighborhood. Avoid posting vacation-related updates on social media, as you never know who might see them and exploit the information.2. Schedule timers! Set up timers for lights, televisions, and radios to mimic your regular routine, creating the illusion that someone is at home.3. Secure all entry points! Before departing, double-check that doors, windows, garages, and sheds are properly locked.4. Manage your mail! Request a mail hold from the post office through their website or by filling out a form at the local post office. Alternatively, ask a reliable neighbor to collect your mail and newspapers during your absence.5. Monitor messages! Avoid signaling your absence by updating your answering machine message or setting out-of-office email replies that hint at your vacation.6. Safeguard valuables! Place important items and documents in a fire-safe box or a safe deposit box. Keep a record of serial and model numbers for accurate reporting in case of loss.7. Simulate occupancy! Maintain the appearance of an occupied home by requesting a trusted neighbor to park their car in your driveway.8. Illuminate surroundings! Install motion-sensing lights outside your home to deter potential intruders who prefer to go unnoticed.9. Provide contact information! If you have an alarm system, ensure that the monitoring service can reach you during your absence. Share contact details with the neighbor assisting with mail and newspapers or parking a car in your driveway.10. Utilize vacation check services! Take advantage of the Florissant Police Department's free program, where they conduct daily checks on your home. Complete the Vacation Check Form on their website or at the police department. The Florissant Police Department extends warm wishes for a safe and joyful summer to all Florissant residents. Florissant Spotlight Summer 202411Aqua Zumba _______________________________ 16 & upAqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. This class takes place in our indoor pool. Splashing, stretching, twisting, and even shouting, laughing, hooting, and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba shallow water class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.M/W/F I: 6/3-8/2 10-11am $93 • $108 • $69.75Water Works _______________________________ 16 & upTake the plunge and try this low-impact workout that builds muscle strength and boosts your endurance. Each class includes a warm-up, cardio and strength training exercises, and a cooldown. Expect exercises like water walking, bicep curls, leg curls, leg lift, and noodle moves. You won’t be swimming, and these water workouts are done in the shallow end of the pool. The buoyancy of the water is easy on your joints which makes this class a good choice if you have joint problems, chronic pain, or are recovering from an injury.M/W/F I: 6/3-8/2 11-12pm $93 • $108 • $69.75T/TH I: 6/4-8/1 10-11am $62 • $72 • $46.50AquaticsO.A.R.S.Older Adult Recreational Swimming is for adults 18 years and older.
