The following information is provided to assist you, the chapter advisor, in registering yourDECA members for competition at the Florida DECA Career Development Conference.Please read and complete all the information by the specified deadline dates.Attendance Criteria and Eligibility to FL DECA CDC:Adults – The Board of Advisors, Florida DECA, Inc., has specified that there must be aminimum of one adult for every ten (10) student delegates attending unless countypolicies require additional. Adult advisors are the chapter advisors and designatedchaperones. If more than one adult advisor is necessary, another adult may bedesignated by the proper school official to serve in this capacity as a chaperone. Anadult must be 21 years of age or older.1.2. Students – To be eligible to attend the CDC, each DECA member must meet these basiccriteria:Be an active, associate or alumni member of Florida DECA and DECA Inc.Have the written approval of the DECA chapter advisor, the school administratorand the parent/guardian.3. Additional CriteriaDistrict winners in one of the following, Principles of Business Administration, TeamDecision Making, Individual Series, Personal Financial Literacy, EntrepreneurshipEvents (EIP and ESB), Integrated Marketing Campaign Participating, andProfessional Selling and Consulting EventsFinalists in the written chapter events and written team/individual written events.FL DECA Officer candidate for Executive President and Executive Vice President.District Vice PresidentsOne campaign manager is allowed if your chapter is running a candidate forExecutive President and Executive Vice President.4. Team 66 FL DECA Officers: Officers are not to be included on the housing forms orregistration (unless competing). They will be attending CDC the day before the conferencestarts and will be housed with their teammates.Team 67 FL DECA Officers: Officers are required to attend the conference, even if they arenot competing. All Team 67 Officers must pay the registration fee for the conference. 5. A participant is permitted to compete in only one event. 6. Students NOT COMPETING may not be registered without Executive Director approval.GENERAL INFORMATION

CONFERENCE CONDUCTThe Board of Advisors of Florida DECA, Inc. have authorized all rules and regulations listedbelow and on the conference webpage, to be enforced at all Florida DECA conferences(without exception).All attendees must read and have signed the Student Code of Conduct or Advisor Code ofConduct prior to attending the conference. Forms will be collected by the District Advisors atthe start of the advisors meeting on Thursday. Flagrant violations may be submitted in writing to the conference headquarters by anyteacher or by security for action. Any flagrant violation shall be handled as deemedappropriate by the Board of Advisors. Please advise your attending members of the responsibilities that must be accepted with theprivilege of being an official representative of your chapter and school. It is important thatthese rules and regulations be discussed within your chapter. Each delegate to any Florida DECA conference is limited to participation as FL DECA by theBoard of Advisors. Any violation could cause immediate departure for the entire chapterdelegation.Dress CodeConference Classifications (adults and students)The guidelines are in your DECA Guide and posted to the DECA Inc website. Please checkthese guidelines so that students are in compliance.Safety and SecurityAll chapter advisors are responsible for the safety and security of their student delegates andany other students who happen to be rooming on that floor. The Board of Advisorsrecommends that all chapter advisors make themselves visible in the corridors for one hourafter the designated curfew time. Florida DECA provides a security team. They will bepatrolling the hallways and, in general, keeping the peace. We need the chapter advisor’ssincere cooperation in controlling student delegates’ actions. The FL DECA Staff will nothesitate to send minor and major conduct violators home with no refunds on registration andhousing.All Advisors BriefingAll advisors will meet PRIOR to the opening session at 5:00 p.m. This meeting is mandatory.Chapter advisors who do not attend the meeting will have their chapter disqualified fromattending ICDC. Student Code of Conduct and Advisor Code of Conduct will be collected atthe briefing by the District Advisors.

The Board of Advisors for Florida DECA requires that all delegates attending the State CareerDevelopment Conference read and sign the Code of Conduct for the conference. Forms will bereturned to the teacher for submission at the conference. 1. The term “delegate” shall include any DECA member, including advisors, students, chaperones,alumni, and professional members participating in the conference as part of a chapter. 2. There shall be no defacing of public property. Any damage to property that is considered partof the conference or extended areas shall be the responsibility of the individual or the chapter.3. Delegates must wear identification badges at all times.4. Delegates shall refrain from using inappropriate or profane language.5. Delegates shall refrain from written, verbal, physical, or electronic activities that may lead toharassment, hazing, bullying or damaging property.6. The use of any harassment against anyone on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry, age, gender, sexual orientation, or disability is prohibited.7. Delegates shall respect the rights and safety of other hotel guests.8. Delegates shall not possess alcoholic beverages, narcotics, or weapons in any form at any timeunder any circumstance.9. Use of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes by delegates is prohibited at all DECA functions.10. Delegates must adhere to the dress code at all times.11. Delegates must not dress or behave in a manner that can be interpreted as sexually explicit.12. Students shall keep adult advisors informed of their activities and whereabouts at all times.13. No delegate shall leave the hotel (other than authorized events) without permission of the chapter advisor.14. Delegates shall be prompt and prepared for all activities.15. Delegates should be financially prepared for all activities.16. Delegates are required to attend all sessions and activities assigned, including opening andclosing session, competitive events, meetings, etc.17. Delegates shall only enter their assigned room. 18. Delegates shall be in their assigned room and quiet at curfew. 19. Delegates are the responsibility of the chapter advisor or chaperones. However, asrepresentatives of Florida DECA, delegates shall follow reasonable guidelines or instructions given by any chapter advisor of Florida DECA, Florida DECA staff, hotel personnel, or security. 20. Delegates ignoring or violating any of the above rules will subject their entire delegation,including officer candidates and competitive event participants, to disqualification. Each DECA advisor is responsible for the registration of eligible delegates attending theconference before a chapter will be allowed to attend and participate. All studentdelegates, advisors, parents, county personnel, or any chaperoning adults attending theconference are required to pre-register for the conference.WRITTEN MANUAL REGISTRATION IS DUE BY MONDAY, JANUARY 1, 2024 AT 11:59 P.M.Registration for the written manuals is separate from the conference registration.Registration is free and allows your students to upload their written manual for judging.Students who qualify for the Florida DECA Career Development Conference will benotified through the Chapter Advisor and will need to register for the FL DECA CDC. FL DECA CDC REGISTRATION IS DUE BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2024 AT 11:59 P.M.Registration fee is $125.00. A $10.00 delegate cancellation fee will be assessed. Those whoregister AFTER the due date will incur a late fee. There are no exceptions.It shall be the responsibility of the chapter advisor to verify that all student delegates aremembers of Florida DECA and DECA Inc. and that they have 2.0 grade point average orhigher. Click on the Add Non-Student button.In the Add Non-Student screen, enter thefirst and last name, choose theParticipant Type as Advisor orChaperone, and select a T-Shirt Size. Once you have completed theregistration for all of your studentand non-student participants, scrollto the bottom of the screen and clickFinish Registration. HOTEL REGISTRATIONHotel registration will be completed through the online registration system in DLG. Hotel registration will also include the opportunity to purchase Universal and Sea Worldtickets using a group rate. Both tickets include transportation to and from the park andthe Sea World ticket comes with a meal and snack voucher. Housing payments will be processed through Florida DECA, Inc. Payments must be madeto Florida DECA by Friday, February 16, 2024. Hotel cancellations must be sent in writing to jbenedict@fldeca.org prior to February 16,2024. PAYMENTSAll payments will be made through Florida DECA. This includes conference registration,housing, and theme park tickets. Payments may be made by check, electronic deposit/wire transfer, or credit card.
