Sing and sign provides the opportunity for people to learn visually, verbally and kinesthecally all at the same me. It is very enjoyable for all involved. It inspired Day Service Customer, Debbie to want to teach young children Sing and Sign and so Jackie arranged for her to help at ‘Fergus Fun Time’ our group for toddlers/ pre-schoolers and their carers. She now aends the group weekly. Page 3 Ferring Funders and Friends Anyone for tennis? A group of enthusiasc Day Service Customers have been aending a tennis course in Lilehampton over the past couple of months. As the season drew to an end parents, carers and parcipants all agreed it had been a really worthwhile acvity. There was a very posive vibe and the feedback has been excellent. The course was led by sports coach, Will Berry. Future sessions have been planned! We are very grateful to Anya from Rassasy Farm shop and Deli, Ferring, for another amazing cheque for £415! The money was raised from card sales, made and donated by local arst, Bushy. The cards can also be purchased in the Ferring Country Centre Shop. A wonderful example of the community coming together to support our adults with Learning Disabilies. A Message from Hannah Sports News Gis of me and talent are also greatly appreciated! We had a wonderful evening on Friday 22nd September when Rangers Café hosted another popular Quiz and Supper night. Simon Thompson was the Quiz master whose eorts helped to raise hundreds of pounds for Ferring Country Centre. Paul Moss and Serenata, a local jazz band also gave their me to play at a Day Service Supper Club as did Inspired Instrumentalists for the summer BBQ. Thank you for sharing your gis! And just like that the Summer is drawing to a close. We have had a brilliant summer at the Centre enjoying many acvies, including the addion of a weekly Tennis session and us hosng the Apulstock Music Fesval. We all came together on the 1st of September to wish Colin Knaggs well as he rered. The summer also saw us welcome Dave Payne as Head of Support, who has spent the summer geng to know the team and spending me with the people we support, understanding their wishes for our Centre as we connue our journey. As we say Hello to Autumn, it is me for us all to consider digging out our warmer clothes and our waterproof coats. During the coming weeks we will connue to see the weather uctuate, so it is important to remember to dress for the season, the mornings can be chilly, whilst the mid-day sun can sll be hot, and of course there is always the chance of rain! So do remember to pack your wellingtons and raincoats. The annual Ferring Scarecrow Fesval will be returning in October, this year in in support of Ferring Girl Guides, we are very excited to be parcipang in the trail again this year. “Thanks for coming, the children really enjoyed it and were even doing the signs later in the garden. Please thank Jordan and Debbie again for me, they did brilliantly, it takes a lot of courage to take a new group acvity the rst few mes.” Terri (Hedgehog House Nursery) Ra approached some local nurseries to see if their children would be interested in learning sing and sign. Last week Jordan and Debbie visited Hedgehog House and taught them the animal signs for Old McDonald! It was a great success and they are going to visit fortnightly. Next me, they are going to teach the signs for the colours, through the Rainbow Song. Jordan and Debbie demonstrate the signs for horse and pig “Will taught us new skills, it was good, like balancing the ball.” Andrew
