A message from Hannah After a slow start the summer seems to have arrived We have had a busy few months here at Ferring At the start of the year the Day Service started an allotment project which is now brimming with life Our woodwork workshop is also in use creating a number of lovely items including a Ferring Country Centre branded clock Our aspiration is to provide excellent services in good facilities to our beneficiaries During 2021 we ran a campaign to raise funds to improve our spaces in the Day Service building I am pleased to report that we are now more than halfway through the planned improvements Two classrooms a breakout meeting room and the IT room have now all been completed with a third classroom and new medical room underway and due to be finished in the coming weeks It is so important for us to have appropriately equipped spaces and through the fundraising efforts we have been able to upgrade all areas of the Day Service building It has been a privilege to see our customers enjoy the improved facilities Wishing you all a lovely summer stay safe and enjoy the sun Summer Celebration 2022 On Wednesday 1st June we held the much anticipated Day Service Summer Party The successful event was planned by our newly elected Ferring Country Centre Ambassadors Ricky Sam Jordan Shane and Daisy The group welcomed everyone to the party meeting and greeting them wearing their smart new Ambassador shirts and doing a splendid job The evening s entertainment was started off in style with staff member Andrew Theodoridi playing his guitar and singing songs The party atmosphere continued as the Sussex Steel Band played and people chatted together The BBQ began at 7pm and was cooked and served by our Chef Anatolij Jason our Head of Facilities Lloyd Facilities Co ordinator and Pete a volunteer The weather was kind and people ate on the terraces and outside as well as in the caf Drinks flowed thanks to the new alcohol licence at the Caf and a merry time was had by all Ferring Funders and Friends A wonderful evening was had by all who attended Worthing Inspired Instrumentalists Spring Concert on 7th May The uplifting and varied programme included favourites such as Unchained Melody The Teddy Bear s Picnic and The Bare Necessities Audience participation was encouraged and people sang along and tapped their feet in rhythm to the varied instruments ranging from guitars and recorders to flutes keyboard and brass Worthing Inspired Instrumentalists kindly donated all the proceeds from the concert to Ferring Country Centre An amazing total of 642 25 was raised through the event Members of the ensemble asked friends and family who were unable to attend the concert to sponsor a song Along with a collection and donations from group members this incredible total was reached Huge thanks also go to Worthing Literary Trust West Sussex Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 453 and Helen Maidlow for their extremely generous donations After the delicious food there was a disco on the front terrace and everybody danced Dave Hunt was DJ ing assisted by our own DJ Sam The event was a big step and quite emotional for many as it has been the first party since the beginning of Covid The Day Service Customers said that they enjoyed having the party at Ferring Country Centre as they felt relaxed and happy here The next Supper Club will be held on Wednesday 6th July 2022
Focus on Kayleigh Second Edition 2022 Kayleigh joined the team in March 2022 She is a riding School Co ordinator assisting Helen with the smooth running of the stables Kayleigh spends her days at Ferring Country Centre teaching clients to ride She also assists clients with riding therapy which can range from grooming the horses to riding them sometimes with support The rest of her time is filled with general yard work In her own time Kayleigh owns her own horse called Joyce She enters local competitions with her and enjoys riding and looking after her Kayleigh also has a little boy called George who keeps her busy Kayleigh has an HND in Equine Management and is training for her stage 3 with The British Horse Society To learn more about riding lessons or riding therapy please email riding ferringcountrycentre org Coming Soon If you are looking to get fitter over the summer or just fancy a bit of fresh air in the company of a friendly group of people then Ferring Country Centre Walk and Talk group might be just the thing for you We meet every Monday at 10 15am and start in various locations Please see the timetable opposite for more information Everybody is welcome including dogs and we look forward to meeting you For more information about our walk and talk group please email Raffaella starace ferringcountrycentre org Creating positive futures for adults with learning disabilities
