A message from Hannah I am excited to tell you that the new caf project has now begun We look forward to the opening of the new building which will include a Caf Ferring Country Stores toilet facilities and soft play area in about four months time weather permitting For the duration of the build there will be diversions in place Please see the information boards for more details We would like to thank the Hill Barn golf clubs Ladies Justine Cath Hazel and Wendy Who completed 4 full rounds of golf on the 26th June at Hill Barn Golf Club supported by their buggy drivers carrying golf clubs and provisions The ladies donated an Our lucky rabbits and guinea pigs have been gifted enclosure enhancing tunnels thanks to Men in Sheds Worthing You may also notice our new staff uniform appearing around site Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd have generously sponsored our new look When visiting the Centre you may notice staff boasting shades of bright blue and gorgeous greys on their stylish new polo shirts jackets and gilets We are delighted that the duck pond is now finished and is proving a highlight of Dales Farm This year we have a Halloween Disco in our indoor Riding School for our Day Service Customers and their friends and family I hope to see you there Quiz Corner DOWN 2 4 5 6 9 What children say when knocking on doors and asking for sweets An autumn celebration The month of Halloween Autumn is between summer and The American word for Autumn ACROSS 1 3 Ferring Funders and Friends The third season of the year A word meaning equal night when the length of the days and nights become equal and autumn officially begins 6 A popular Halloween character who flies on a broomstick 7 The process of gathering crops 8 An autumnal colour 10 Halloween was originally called what 11 When trees start to shed their 12 Due to the colder temperatures animals prepare for what Men in Sheds have been enhancing the lives of our animals for many years Their latest donation comes in the form of six hand crafted rabbit and guinea pig tunnels The tunnels will provide welcome shelter from harsh weather conditions offer a shady spot to hide in and provide stimulating play for our furry friends We would also like to thank Natalie Lambert three forts challenge Emmanuel United Reformed Church Worthing Lyons East Preston Twinning s association Worthing Rugby Club and the Crosby Close BBQ for their generous donations Like a Duck to Water Our brand new duck pond is officially up and running and is open to our feathered friends The ducks went for their first swim on Thursday 18th July after building works began on Monday 24th June The renovations included removing over 20 tonnes of soil which took two whole days and required a digger The pond now boasts a floating customised duck house which has proved a hit with the ducks who have told us they think it s absolutely quacking Other features include oxygenating plants which naturally filter the pond water Other plants and shrubs provide natural hiding spots for our ducks and mimic their natural habitat We hope you will come and see it for yourself
