A message from Hannah It seems hard to believe that 2021 is almost over Once again it has been a fabulous year here at Ferring Country Centre with Day services retuning to full service and our new facilities being completely open We have continued to be cautious in our approach to COVID 19 leaving in place control measures such as mask wearing at all times but I am delighted that we have also been able to enjoy some festivities in a controlled manner Thank you all for your support during 2021 wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Looking forward to seeing you all in 2022 Quiz Corner Can you work out the Christmas song titles by looking at the emojis Answers can be found on the back page SPOT THE DIFFERENCES There are 5 differences between the two images Can you find them Ferring Funders and Friends On Tuesday 16th November 2021 Ferring Country Centre were delighted to welcome Frank Taylor and David Thomas both Worshipful Brothers from Worthing Temple Lodge 8286 They brought with them a kind donation of 300 The money was raised via the generosity of their members On Thursday 18th November 2021 Ferring Country Centre were bowled over to receive an amazing cheque from Kevin Buck MBE team office member for Worthing Indoor Bowls Club The Club had managed to raise a staggering 1000 which is the largest total they have ever raised through a charity event We would also like to thank Ferring Co op for their continued kindness and generosity all year Recently they donated sweets for our Day Service Customer Christmas presents and not only did they supply mulled wine and mince pies for the Live Nativity they also gave up their time to serve it We would also like to say a big Thank You to everybody who has kindly sponsored one of our new trees leading up to the Centre Sing and Sign Sing and sign is a very popular activity offered at Ferring Country Centre every week and is led by Jackie Taylor Miller Our Day Service Customers have particularly enjoyed learning Christmas songs recently Singers usually express a song through pitch tone and emotion of their voices Sing and sign participants do the same with their hands body and facial expressions a visual spectacular for the senses Sign language is therefore telling a visual story behind the song they are singing Anyone can have a barrier to communication Someone may have a sensory impairment a learning disability or developmental delay to name just a few and these will impact how they can express themselves Sing and sign lifts these barriers and creates accessibility equality and huge enjoyment It is a powerful way of uniting different needs through the power of music There are lots of signing songs available on YouTube if you would like to get involved at home
New Dinner Club Fourth Edition 2021 On the first Wednesday of each month starting on the 2nd of February 2022 from 5 00pm to 8 00pm we will be holding a Dinner Club for Ferring Day Service Customers This is an opportunity to meet and chat with friends from Ferring in a relaxed safe setting over a lovely meal There will be low level music playing and a few board games for people to participate in if they wish For just 14 50 there will be a choice of a two course set menu vegetarian option available and a soft drink The choices will be sent out and booked in advance Spaces will be limited initially due to Covid Those that require one to one support will need to bring their support along with them ensuring that they book two meal spaces if the support is eating as well Transport is not provided to or from dinner club but there will be staff on hand throughout the evening Eventually we are hoping to open this social event up to the wider community once we know what the Covid situation is next year Please contact our Outreach Community Co ordinator for more details Jacqueline Taylor Miller ferringcountrycentre org Coming Soon The Big Bike Revival is all about helping everyone and anyone to begin or return to cycling through a programme of FREE activities and services delivered by organisations who are part of the community and address local needs So if you d like to get some help and advice on mechanical issues accessible cycling or anything else bike related come along to meet Matt Shaw from Cyclo Analysis at Ferring Country Centre on the dates shown above Any donations received for Matt s services will kindly be donated to Ferring Country Centre If you have any questions about this scheme then please contact Matt at info cycloanalysis co uk or phone him on 07944878984 1 Driving Home for Christmas 2 Fairy tale of New York 3 Step into Christmas 4 I m Dreaming of a White Christmas 5 Joy to the World 6 Jingle Bell Rock 7 Santa Baby Creating positive futures for adults with learning disabilities
