A message from Hannah I am delighted to welcome you to the First edition of this year s Ferring Focus Each year the change of season from Winter to Spring brings a feeling of optimism around the Centre we begin to see a little more sun the temperature hints the beginning of warmth bulbs begin to shoot and we have a sense of growth and new beginnings among us This year I am finding that the optimism stretches beyond the usual change in season looking towards a future where we cope with COVID 19 as part of everyday life With the benefits of the vaccine programme and break throughs and improvements with treatments allowing us to live with significantly reduced risk As an organisation we hope to begin phasing out our remaining COVID 19 restrictions during March and April It has always been our ambition to offer activities outside of usual hours for those that attend the Centre and I am pleased to report this started in February with the launch of our Supper Club Ferring Funders and Friends Ken Green took over as the Captain of HOGGS Hill Barn Old Gentlemen s Golf Section in February 2021 and kindly chose Ferring Country Centre as their charity of the year On 28th February 2022 Sam Kirk our Head of Commercial services attended the AGM and was handed a cheque which brought the final total raised to an incredible 2736 40 The Club raised the money by leaving collection boxes in the club room and holding various fund raising events throughout the year such as raffles and charity matches We are hugely grateful for the generosity of the club members On 19th January the Worthing Probus group invited Ferring Country Centre to do an after lunch talk at The Burlington Hotel in return for a donation of 60 We also attended the friendly W I group in Littlehampton where we gave an informative illustrated talk in return for a donation of 50 Thank you We hope to expand our out of hours offer further during the year and will of course keep you posted If you belong to a group or society that would like to invite Ferring Centre to do a talk in return for a donation please contact sam kirk ferringcountrycentre org What s New at The Ranger s Caf Supper Club As Spring arrives so does an exciting fresh menu at Ranger s Caf From Monday 7th March there will be some new additions to our normal favourites Because we are passionate about the quality of the ingredients that we use this will mean some slight price increases in line with rising supplier costs There will be extra choices for children including beans on toast or egg on toast on the breakfast menu New for adults we have a vegan option of avocado and tomato on toast eggs can of course be added as an optional extra With warmer days approaching we have also added a tempting new salad bowl with a choice of tasty toppings such as smoked salmon tuna or houmous Fridays are going to become our special Fish Friday with a delicious fresh fish dish available weekly So whether you are after a hearty breakfast cake and barista coffee or a leisurely lunch we hope you will continue to support us and look forward to welcoming you your family and friends soon Mother s Day Why not spoil your mum or the special lady in your life to a treat in the Ranger s Caf On 2nd February as the sun set beautifully in the evening sky an excited group of Day Service Customers gathered with anticipation for the first ever Supper Club at Rangers Caf The event was a great success offering the choice of fish and chips or Burger and chips a cold drink and pudding The atmosphere was happy and jovial with merry chatter and laughter filling the caf Josh commented that This burger is amazing I m having a really good time and I ve already booked the next supper I ve ordered cottage pie The company is great and it s mellow The music is just right not too loud Debbie commented that it was nice to be together doing something different and Jordan announced that the fish was spectacular The evening provided such a wonderful safe opportunity for the Day Service Customers to chill out together in the evening whilst enjoying the amazing food cooked by our talented Chef Everybody agreed that they would look forward eagerly to the next one Anatolij The next Supper Club will be held on Wednesday 6th April 2022

Jo Reading in Focus First Edition 2022 Jo Reading left teaching and joined the commercial team at Ferring Country Centre last June Her role is to assist Sam Kirk with everything and anything that helps to bring in donations to the Centre If that means dressing up as an elf to read stories at Supper with Santa events or as a witch to lead creepy crafts at Halloween then she will do it In January Jo started up Ferring Country Centre s first toddler preschooler group called Fergus Fun Time named after the pig mascot found on all the signs around The Centre The sessions run most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the newly converted Pavilion building in Dales Farm The club has proved very popular showing that there is a demand in the local community for this provision Jo s hobby is photography so she can often be spotted with a camera taking photos to promote Ferring Country Centre on social media She also helps with our website marketing and fundraising Jo says that she loves her role which is much less like work and more like being part of a family where everybody supports each other and plays their part to make Ferring Country Centre the success that it is To learn more about Fergus Fun Time then please see the What s on page on our website or email jo reading ferringcountrycentre org Coming Soon Sunday 27th March Mother s Day Why not spoil your mum to a treat in Ranger s Caf 9th 24th April Easter Activies for the family Keep an eye out on social media for upcoming events Sunday 1st May Three Forts Challenge Running across the Downs for Ferring Country Centre Saturday 7th May Inspired Instrumentalists A free event with a retiring collection for Ferring Country Centre Band Worthing Community Hall Creating positive futures for adults with learning disabilities
