Feb Marc h He is not here He is risen just as He said Matthew 28 6A FEBRUARY MARCH 2018 IN THIS ISSUE Resurrection Hope By Mr Dan Cameron Lately it seems as though the news is full of dreadful headlines Headlines and stories that instill fear anger resentment and causes us to lose hope and be filled with confusion The responses to these tragic headlines vary When I speak to other Christians concerning the current state of our world the most common response I hear is Maranatha Come Lord Jesus Most often we seek hope to help us traverse these tumultuous times that we find ourselves looking ahead to Jesus second coming But our hope our expectant desire is not grounded in the future Rather it finds its origin in the resurrection of Jesus The resurrection gives us hope for the future and purpose in the present The future hope that is offered to us through the resurrection of Jesus leads directly to our present hope Hope for a better future in this world for the poor the sick the lonely and depressed for the slaves the refuges the hungry and hopeless the abused the paranoid the downtrodden and despairing In 1 Corinthians 15 58 Paul does not tell the church in Corinth they can sit back and relax just passively waiting for Jesus to return No he says Therefore my dear brothers and sisters stand firm Let nothing move you Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain He tells them that in light of the resurrection of their future hope they have present purpose to commit themselves to the work of the Lord Why Because with the coming of Jesus came the kingdom of God We have a responsibility to enact that kingdom order structure in the here and now while we await the return of Jesus when all will finally and completely be made right In this Easter season remember that in these tumultuous times our hope lies in the resurrection of Jesus It is this resurrection that gives us hope for the future and purpose in the present Saints we have work to do How are you living out your purpose in the present to see the Kingdom of God transform this world ACSI SPEECH MEET Many students participated in this year s ACSI Speech Meet It is a yearly event that promotes self confidence and creativity in our students Cont Page 3 Once Upon a Crime A wonderful night of food fellowship and fun Our Drama Students did a fantastic job as families and friends came out to support our evening Cont Page 2
