February 23, 2024ד״פשת א-רדא ד’’י הוצת תשרפ OIL AND CLOTHING 5:08 PMDear Parents, Last week’s parsha, Parshas Terumah, dealt primarily with the details of the construction of the Mishkan and its vessels. Parshas Tetzaveh mainly describes the הנוהכ ידגב. Parshas Tetzaveh however, begins with a description of the תיז ןמש used to light the Menorah: רואמל תיתכ ךז תיז ןמש ךילא וחקיו. It seems that these pesukim would be better placed in Parshas Terumah after the instructions about the design of the Menorah. The Novominsker Rebbe ztz”l points out that the connection between the תיז ןמש and םידגב is referenced in Tehillim ׳ב קוספ ג״לק קרפ. The possuk there reads: לע בוטה ןמשכ ויתודימ יפ לע דריש ןרהא ןקז ןקזה לע דרי שארה. Like the precious oil upon the head, running down the beard of Aharon and on his clothing. Additionally, in Koheles: ךידגב ויהי תע לכב רסחי לא ךשאר לע ןמשו םינבל. Let your garments always be white and may your heard never lack oil. Clearly there is a connection and lesson to be derived from the juxtaposition of the oil and the הנוהכ ידגב. The תיז ןמש represents the הרותה תמכח. The Gemarah in Brachos ז״נ ףד writes that if one dreams of oil, he should expect success in Torah. The clothing of a person is called תודמ as seen in the possuk in Tehillim mentioned above, as well as in דב ודמ ןהכה שבלו :׳ג קוספ ׳ו קרפ ארקיו. The clothes represent the Middos and character of a person. A person’s character is his שובל, it's the way he’s perceived by others and in all his interactions. The message says the Rebbe, is that the Torah is giving us the guide to Middos Tovos: הרותה תמכח. Middos must be purified through the prism of Torah. Without Torah, a person’s middos are easily corruptible. Torah is what keeps our character pristine and correct. In Yiddish, there is an aphorism that ךיז ראפ ןענעז תודמ םנעי ראפ טשינ ןענעז תודימ. The Torah perspective on Middos is not just how to interact well with others, it’s to develop one 's inner world and character. When one accomplishes this, his םידגב are truly תראפתלו דובכל ...שדוק ידגב. !תבש טוג Rabbi Ochs●● March 2 - Motzei Shabbos - Torah Academy Auction(for ladies only)● Mar 4 - Williston Conferences● Mar 6 - Hamilton Conferences● Mar 11 - Preschool and 1G Conferences● Mar 15 - Long Friday dismissal, K-1pm, PreK, 1-8G, daycare - 2:20pm, 1-8B - 2:30● Mar 17 - Rebbeim meeting, 11:30 dismissal
