ENTIRELY DIFFERENT4:51 PMDear Parents, Right after Kabolas HaTorah and the Aseres HaDibros, the possuk writes that Hashem commanded Klal Yisrael to adhere to three Mitzvos:1. Do not make an image of celestial beings or any graven image2. When building a Mizbeiach out of stone, do not use a metal implement: תיזג ןהתא הנבת אל3. יחבזמ לע תולעמב הלעת אל Do not use steps to ascend the Mizbeiach. Instead, use a ramp These three mitzvos are safeguards against the A prohibition against forming an image of a celestial being prevents הרז הדובע. A prohibition against using a metal implement hits to the prohibition of murder. Ascending to the Mizbeiach via a ramp is an expression of modesty, and a safeguard against תוירע יוליג – immorality. Why is the Torah emphasizing these three prohibitions as a postscript to the Aseres HaDibros? These mitzvos are elementary to any society and are already included as part of the The Mefarshim explain that the psukim are revealing the full impact of הרותה תלבק. Moshe is informing Klal Yisrael that even the basic laws that govern society assume an infinitely higher level of observance and sensitivity for Klal Yisrael to that extent that even vestiges of these prohibitions are not allowed to exist among us. Not only is serving an idol forbidden, creating an image of a celestial being, even for non-idol worshipping purposes is not allowed. Not only is murder forbidden, but one also can’t even use an implement that has the potential to murder to build the Mizbeiach. Not only is תוירע יוליג forbidden, ascending the Mizbeiach in a way that is slightly immodest is not allowed. Klal Yisrael did not receive seven mitzvos plus 606 others. At Har Sinai, we received ג״ירת תווצמ. Even the zayin mitzvos are entirely different. It is with this perspective that we became Hashem’s תבש טוגRabbi Ochs●● Tue, Feb 14 - STEM Fair● Fri, Feb 17- Sun, Feb 26- Mid- Winter Break- No School● Wed, March 1 - K2 Parent Teacher conferences● Fri, March 3 - Purim Carnival● Mon, March 6 - Taanis Esther- Special Dismissal - 5-8G -12pm, 6-8B - 12:30pm● Tue, March 7 - Wed, March 8 - Purim/ Shushan Purim- No School● Mon, March 13- K1, PRE-K 1-2, 1G Parent Teacher Conferences● Wed, March 15 - 2-8G Parent Teacher Conferences● Mon, March 20 - 1-8B Parent Teacher Conferences● Monday, MLK Day, our staff gathered for a phenomenal professional development presentation.
