NEWS FROM THE CHURCHES Dr Mark A Boyd KBA PACKETS For camp weeks of July 8 11 and July 22 25 KBA Packets will be mailed to our churches on May 11th Be looking for them in your church mailboxes FBC Idabel will be voting on May 10th for Bob O Neil to be their Transitional Pastor S pecific Guidelines Requirements from the State of Oklahoma is permitting churches to choose whether to open for in person meetings or worship Churches may reopen under some restrictions as soon as May 1 For worship every other row or pew should be left open Churches are not yet permitted to provide nursery areas Individuals over 65 or part of a vulnerable population will need to continue following safer at home guidelines during this phase Churches will need to adhere to the CDC recommended social distancing and sanitations protocols More specific guidance for churches are posted at the https www okcommerce gov wp content uploads Places of Worship Guidance pdf A pressing question on the minds of pastors and church leaders today is related to the reopening of church buildings for worship The question actually has two aspects that need to be answered When should we reopen and what needs to be done to reopen safely There is a lot of material that has been written and compiled that will be a great help in your decision making process Remember there is not a one size fits all reopening strategy although there will be some common elements that will be considered in everyone s plan to reopen their church buildings Some will reopen their buildings in May while some will open later in June Portions reprinted from Oklahoma Baptists https www FriscoBaptist com covid 19 KBA SUMMER SCHEDULE July 5 8 KBA Youth 1 July 8 11 KBA Youth 2 Frisco Time July 12 15 Muskogee Kids July 15 18 Choctaw Chickasaw Family Camp July 19 22 KBA Kids 1 July 22 25 KBA Kids 2 Frisco Time July 27 Aug 1 Summit Camps Aug 2 7 Free Will Youth Camps Key Considerations for Your First Gathering from Oklahoma Baptists When gathering consideration should be given to Plan how you will limit handouts e g announcements hymnals orders of service and other bulletin information Maintain social distance and sanitation requirements with the presence of young children in the worship service Plan how you will clean common areas between services Display signage that would discourage hand shaking and or other greetings that require physical touch Identify which doors can remain propped open in order to limit the number of people touching the handles When worshiping consideration should be given to The benefits and health concerns of the congregation concerning expressions of worship For example should we sing or not how do we take the offering and how do we conduct the invitation How you will arrange the meeting area so that the six foot social distancing can take place For example possibly ushering people to appropriate seats MAY 2020 11 Administrative Committee Mtg FBA Office 12 Executive Board Cancelled 21 Brotherhood Meeting Cancelled JUNE 2020 06 KBA Cabin Cleanup 21 Father s Day KBA Offering 25 Brotherhood WGF Team Meeting 10 AM When dismissing consideration should be given to Possibly staggering the dismissal so that there is not the creation of an unintentional crowding of social distancing space of individuals www FriscoBaptist com 1101 W Finley P O Box 888 Hugo OK 74743 580 326 9625 I want to continue to encourage you to check our website daily for new updates on resources that will help you navigate this health care crisis in our area A private Facebook group has been created called FBA Ministers I created it as a form of communication with those who serve in a ministerial role of a church in Frisco Baptist Association spouses are invited to join When the Pastor is not a member of Facebook then I would like a ministry leader to serve as a liaison As of right now we have 59 members across all three counties with 40 churches represented Please be praying for our Kiamichi Baptist Assembly campground Our reduced schedule is going to put a financial strain on the campground going into the winter months Our camp did apply for the Paycheck Protection Program to help buffer 8 weeks of payroll and utilities but as of this publication they are still waiting for the funding to take place even though they applied for it almost immediately We will need some mowing teams to volunteer in the month of May to help keep the grass knocked down prior to our cabin cleanup on Saturday June 6th We are in the process of restocking our cleaning supplies and paper products for camp and we will be developing some cleaning and safety protocols that will be in place when camp starts back up We are looking forward to our camp preachers this year with Dr Blake Gideon and music by Keno King for our KBA Youth 2 and Children s Pastor Barry Williams and music by Courtland Clark for KBA Children 2
