FATHER S DAY OFFERING Dr Mark A Boyd VOLUNTEERS NEEDED If you are able to assist in our Disaster Relief Laundry operation beginning June 4 or our Cooking operations currently on standby please contact the Frisco Office for more details We are assisting in the Baptist Village of Hugo Project that is being headed up by the Oklahoma Disaster Relief Key Considerations for Frisco Baptist Churches in Phase 3 of Reopen Oklahoma Let me encourage you to evaluate June in the context of what is going on in your community with COVID 19 I have read through a lot of materials and there is a lot of latitude in Phase 3 and our Governor has respected the right to assemble to worship At the time of the writing McCurtain and Choctaw counties have seen a drastic increase in the number of active COVID 19 cases I have gleamed information from different sources so I would like to offer you some key considerations for the month of June Do not assume that Phase 3 will only be for 2 weeks More than likely it will be here for a while until the active cases are negligible or a vaccine is developed You will see the words You are encouraged If possible If feasible We recommend in most of the writings by the government concerning houses of worship That doesn t mean we ignore the advise but we need to take that information in light of the context of our community and the number of active COVID 19 cases You can go to the website https looker dashboards ok gov embed dashboards 44 and look at your county data and take the total cases and subtract out the total recovered to see your active number of cases The words social distancing is recommended are here to stay for a very long time When there are active cases in your county do not become desensitized by those words I would recommend continuing the Phase 2 guidelines of social distancing while inside a building during the month of June in the midst of our COVID 19 outbreak Skipping each row sitting in household groupings social distancing of at least 6 feet keeping your building clean are great things to continue Face masks are encouraged during an active local COVID 19 outbreak Face masks protect others This year s KBA Father s Day Offering will probably be the most important offering in the history of our camp The campground will need to continue their limited operations until next Summer s camp schedule We are anticipating at least a 100 000 dollar shortfall and this is taking into account using our camp reserve and receiving the Payroll Protection Program This offering is being promoted across all five associations that is comprised of 200 churches Please promote this offering in the month of June and give your people an opportunity to respond Be sure to visit the camp s Facebook page at https www facebook com kbacamplife CHURCH VAN OPERATIONS Not a good idea at this time for our area but if absolutely necessary follow the CDC guidelines that the schools will have to follow to transport kids FELLOWSHIP MEALS Outdoor family picnics are wonderful ideas I have heard install sneeze guards in food serving areas avoid buffet style meals this month if serving food then have it already served up in a container for individual distribution Use individual wrapped disposable silverware Provide hand sanitizer at your gatherings VBS Most churches in Oklahoma are waiting until a July August timeframe June isn t ruled out just know what is going on in your community with active COVID 19 cases Perhaps consider doing something special in December for VBS if you choose to wait until our numbers settle down instead of just skipping VBS this year SUMMER CAMPS With the cancellation of Falls Creek CrossTimbers Kiamichi Baptist Assembly and summer camps all across Oklahoma carefully consider what will be required should you choose to host your own overnight mini camp Our Governor has stated that Oklahoma will follow the CDC guidelines for Summer camps You can find it at this website https www cdc gov coronavirus 2019 ncov community schools childcare summer camps html One of the things that I noticed is that you MUST align your beds so that campers and staff sleep head to toe at least 6 feet apart along with several other requirements that will make it extremely difficult not impossible to accomplish JUNE 2020 21 Father s Day KBA Offering 30 Brotherhood WGF Team Meeting 10 AM JULY 2020 2 Office Closed for Independence Day Holiday 4 Independence Day 15 Audit Meeting 10 AM FBA Office WRITTEN PLAN Still maintain your written plan that is followed by your church Should an outbreak of COVID 19 occur in your area the health department officials will do contact tracing which may include a visit to your facility and you can share with them how you are taking care of your congregation RESTARTING SUNDAY SCHOOL Consider large room settings where social distancing can be practiced to get you started back up Slowly ease back into your smaller rooms and strongly encourage wearing a cloth face mask when socially distancing measures are not practical while active COVID 19 cases are present in your area Continue to offer alternatives for those who are not comfortable to return inside a building with a lot of people Such as Live streaming Facebook Live Zoom conference calls Parking Lot Services Using FM transmitters etc These are just some suggestions and my reflections of my readings and meetings that I have attended I am grateful for the religious freedom we have in Oklahoma because for some of our other states that is not the case right now www FriscoBaptist com 1101 W Finley P O Box 888 Hugo OK 74743 580 326 9625 By now you have read at least one urgent prayer request for our neighbors at the Baptist Village Community of Hugo At the time of this writing the numbers have increased for those who have tested positive with COVID 19 Words cannot express adequately our concern for everyone at the Baptist Village community We offer this information to comfort you Many people are praying for healing Our Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Response team has been activated and will be assisting in the laundry operations as approved by the State Health Department Licensed staff from the other Baptist Village communities have been coming to assist to fill in the gaps to ensure quality care is given to your loved one The Senior VP and VP of planning and project management both licensed LTC administrators are operating out of our mobile onsite incident command post VP of Quality and an Infection Control Specialist both RNs are onsite along with 10 other additional staff assisting our Baptist Village The community and churches have responded with providing individually wrapped single serving snack items for the employees neighbors and Disaster Relief volunteers who remain outside Cooking teams are ramping up to prepare food offsite in a commercial kitchen under strict supervision should they be needed WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER Thank you for answering the call to serve and to pray
