Overview The following is a tutorial on how to use the video platform, BlueJeans. GeorgiaTech uses this software to host virtual meetings & webinars. You will useBlueJeans during your FASET session, so we wanted to give you some tips &tricks to get you acclimated to the platform. If any of your questions are notanswered here or in our video, visit bluejeans.gatech.edu for more information. General Controls At the top center of the screen, you'll see the video, audio, share screen,and leave call button. Pressing the video button will mute your video,and pressing the microphone will mute your audio. The third button willallow you to share your screen with the other participants on the call.Once clicked, Bluejeans will ask you which window you would like toshare. Tip: Control + V is a shortcut to mute your video, and Control + M is ashortcut to mute your microphone.
In the same top-right region ofthe screen next to the peopleicon, there is a chat function. Ifyou click this button, you cantype messages for either theentire call to see, or you can senda private direct message.ChatChanging Your Name Once you click the People icon(onthe top right corner of the screen)and hover over your own name, apencil icon will appear. Click onthe pencil icon and your name willbe highlighted in a text box. Youcan then change your name towhat you prefer. Press return tosave your name.Please only change your name toyour preferred name. George P. Burdell
You can change yourbackground by clicking thesettings icon and then the"Choose Virtual Background"button. You can either uploadone of your own images orchoose one of Bluejeans' defaultbackgrounds.Adding a Virtual Background & BannerIf you would like a banner thatdisplays your name and positiontitle, then you can easily get thatdisplayed by going to the settingsicon and scrolling to the verybottom and clicking on"Preferences"You will next see this screen, andclick on the "Lower Third" button.
Virtual Background & Banner continuedAdditional FeaturesClosed CaptioningYou can add closed captioning to yourmeeting if you go to the settings iconand scroll down a little bit. If you checkthat box, you will see closed captions.WhiteboardWhiteboard is a very usefulapplication in Bluejeans that willallow you to work better within agroup by being able to draw visualsand map out thoughts. From here you can add yourbanner, and customize it towhatever you need to be shownto the people in your meeting.
