TrippJones Family Reunion Constitution Originally adopted July 1986 Lucius Gibson Presiding Amended July 2009 July 2014 Courtney Maddix Presiding We the members of the TrippJones family wishing to maintain communication with each other enjoy the fellowship of relatives record the history of the group and establish a continuing organization do adopt this constitution Article I Section 1 All executive powers shall be vested in a president elected for a term of 2 years by a majority vote of members present above the age of 13 years Section 2 The President shall appoint all officers and they will serve at the pleasure of the president except that the secretary and the treasurer shall serve during good behavior Section 3 The president shall recommend programs and estimate the cost of each Section 4 The president shall appoint a parliamentarian to serve throughout the president s term The duties of the parliamentarian shall include the following 1 advising the president during annual business meetings and any other reunionrelated meetings throughout the year 2 enforcing parliamentary procedures such as maintaining order during meeting and serving as the ultimate authority on who has the floor to speak during discussion 3 ensuring that the constitution and bylaws are upheld and 4 serving as an impartial party in the settling of disputes and the interpretation of the constitution Article II Section 1 All legislative powers shall be vested in a Delegate Assembly composed of 25 members elected for a 2 year term Members shall have attained the age of 13 years and reside in the district served
Article III Section 1 The delegate assembly shall consist of members elected by Districts The name and number assigned to each district are District 1 2 3 4 Area Served Americus Georgia Georgiaatlarge Virginia Washington D C Atlanta Decatur Georgia Florida Delegates Allotted 7 6 6 6 Section 2 A meeting of the Delegate Assembly shall be held on the Saturday and Sunday of the annual July reunion Section 3 The Delegate Assembly shall organize itself establish its rules and maintain a journal Article IV Section 1 All revenue for projects and initiatives outside of the annual reunion shall be obtained by gift or sponsored activities Individual direct tax shall not be imposed as a requirement for membership in the family organization Article V Section 1 Each district shall elect an Executive Director Director of Revenue and a Director of Activities and the term of each shall be set by proper regulations
Article VI Section 1 The expenditure of funds shall be by voucher Procedures shall be recommended by the treasurer Article VII Section 1 An election shall be held on the 2nd Saturday of August in each odd numbered year An election committee composed of one person per district shall be in charge Section 2 Voting shall be by printed ballot and all members above age 13 shall have the right to vote and hold office Section 3 The District Director in each district shall inform the members of the time and place to vote And shall along with the Directors of Revenue and Activities canvas the ballots Section 4 A report of the canvas shall be forwarded to the Election Committee within 10 days after the election The Election committee shall certify the canvas and publish the results not later than 20 days following the election Article VIII Section 1 All information pertaining to the TrippJones family shall be the concern of an Historical Committee composed of one person from each district Section 2 The Committee shall publish a journal in each odd year and shall maintain a current membership roll Article IX Section 1 Membership in the TrippJones family shall be by natural descent marriage or adoption Article X Section 1
This document shall become operative when approved by a vote of the members above the age of 13 Article XI Section 1 The annual TrippJones Family Reunion shall be three full days in duration Friday through Sunday in July on a week selected by the host or hostess for that reunion year and shall include two 2 full meals per day The registration cost shall cover all meals and will be determined by the host or hostess Section 2a Successive hosts hostesses of the Reunion shall be determined by a rotating schedule of districts beginning in 2015 The order shall be as follows Americus Florida Atlanta and Virginia and will repeat every 4 years The next valid member of the designated district shall be chosen from the birthday list in order of descending age They will then be offered the opportunity to host the Reunion Section 2b Under normal circumstances the next two hosts hostesses and locations will be announced at the present family reunion as chosen by the method outlined in Section 2a above A verbal acceptance for the next reunion will suffice If the following host hostess is not present a written letter of acceptance will suffice Section 3 In the unfortunate incident that a host ess cancels or cannot fulfill their duties to the reunion the default location will be Americus GA Although the Americus District will be in charge all the districts will come together to assist and fund the gathering The number of days and meals will be at the discretion of the organizers There will be two purposes for the gathering 1 to continue the legacy of the family reunion and 2 to announce the host ess for the subsequent family reunion Notes 2009 amendments include Article I Section 4 Changes to Article IV Section 1 for clarification Article XI in its entirety 2014 amendments include Article XI Section 2 being split into a and b parts New section 2a addresses specifics of host hostess succession birthday list following and district rotation as voted on at the 2014 meeting Section 2b changed to refer to Section 2a
