Students will determine whether a group of objects (up to 20) has an odd or even number of members.

Step 1: Start Video

Step 2: Teach Lesson
The student will go on a walk outside in the backyard or park and search for leaves or flowers. The student will look at the features of
the leaf or flower. If the leaf or flower is still attached to the tree, do not pick it!
The student can draw a picture of the leaf or flower with as many details as possible. Have the student count the pedals or the lines
on the leaf. The student will determine if the total number of lines are even or odd.
The student will determine if the total number of found objects is even or odd.
The student can work independently to complete the Nature Walk Worksheet.
Hold a discussion about the project. See if the student can name the type of plants or flowers that they found.
