1. ABOUT THE PROJECTThe project 1,2,3... Be Healthy! is designed to emphasize the importance of proper and healthy nutrition inchildhood. For children, a balanced diet is crucial for growth, brain development, and physical function. Giventhe prevalence of obesity among children, the high number of children with elevated cholesterol levels, and theincreasing physical inactivity, this project aims to introduce ways to incorporate healthy foods into daily diets, improving children's habits and preventing many diseases closely linked to nutrition.2. AIMS OF PROJECTIn this project, children will receive useful information about nutrients, food groups, and the role of food inimproving health (reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases, improving mood, reducing stress and anxiety, improving digestion and reducing indigestion, affecting cognitive abilities, etc.).Adopting healthy eating habits in youth lays the foundation for making healthy choices in adulthood. 3

All schools jointly selected the project's official logo (Turkey) and slogan:“FUEL YOUR LIFE, THRIVE WITH NATURE!” (Romania)3. STEAM ACTIVITIESProject activities took place from October 2024 to June 2025, encompassing a wide range of STEM activitiesarranged on a monthly basis. A total of 18 different schools from Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, Spain, Portugal,Turkey (appears listed twice), and Romania participated in the project, along with 24 teachers and 251students. The activities were planned and distributed collaboratively, thus contributing to joint cooperationand project success. The teachers successfully coordinated the project tasks via a WhatsApp group and theofficial project website. Great emphasis was placed on internet safety; parental consent was collected for theparticipating students, and we also ensured the ethical rights of all project participants.Official Web page 4

3. STEAM ACTIVITIESOur STEM activities encompassed a wide range of fields — biology, chemistry, natural sciences, nutrition, libraryscience, physical and health education, and visual arts — and aimed to foster and strengthen healthy eating habitsin both children and adults. The activities included observing World Diabetes Day and raising awareness about thedisease. We created traditional cookbooks featuring healthy recipes in both our native language and English, studied the nutritional values of various foods, assembled healthy plates and a healthy food pyramid, conductednumerous workshops, collaborated with nutrition experts, examined the negative effects of fast food, and practicedcommunication skills through a TED‑style talk on healthy eating in partnership with other schools and students.5

27What would you add or change to this project? Why?-I want add cooking healthy foods at home because its healthy and fun activityIt could be a booklet of different healthy food recipes that kids might like.It was a complete project, I wouldn't change anything for my students, but it might be difficult for younger ages.Everything was good.I WOULD CREATE A COMMON PRODUCT.I would shorten the duration of the project.I would move the school garden planting activity to May. Because being from different countries, the climate did not allow it due to geographical conditions.I would reduce the number of activities. There should be more communicative and evaluation meetings between teachers and studentsI would add a daily or weekly challenge calendar with small healthy habits to adopt, such as drinking more water, exercising, or meditatingI wouldn't add. Complete, interactive, and applied essay for all participants. We formed a debate team. We discussed the advantages and disadvantages of a healthy and unhealthy life.More timeMaybe less activitiesEvaluation of the correlation between ancient dietary habits and health(Because the past sheds light on the future)I can add it as visiting places where they can experience how vegetables and fruits are grown and/or trying to grow them in their living spaces.
