Dr. Lipson will share key ndings from the national Healthy Minds Study, including the prevalence of mental health outcomes such as ourishing, depression, anxiety, and suicidality, and trends over time. She will discuss inequalities that exist, how these have widened in recent years, and opportunities to advance equity. Dr. Lipson will also share evidence around the relationship between student mental health and academic performance, highlighting the importance of prioritizing mental health as part of overall college student success. This presentation will be followed by recommendations and resource sharing relevant to mental health providers in higher education as well as other key stakeholders.11:00 am–12:30 pm | Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME /CNESpeaker: Lee Robertson, PhD Candidate Discussant: Thomas Joiner, PhD Moderator: Renee Rienecke, PhD, FAEDTransgender and gender-diverse (TGD) individuals, especially TGD adolescents, experience higher rates and greater symptom severity of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and suicide when compared to cisgender individuals. Despite this public health issue, little research has been conducted on the effectiveness of psychotherapy in reducing mental health disorder symptoms in TGD individuals. Across multiple studies, we compared treatment outcomes for cisgender and TGD adults and adolescents with eating disorders, mood disorders and anxiety disorders. We found signicant disparities in symptoms of these disorders at admission and discharge, especially amongst adolescents, and in some cases, symptoms remitted less or non signicantly for TGD patients. The Minority Stress Model and Transgender Resilience Intervention Model present conceptual frameworks to understand the mechanisms underlying these differences, and the DSM-5 Cultural Formulation Interview serves as a concrete tool clinicians can use to bridge gaps in understanding the importance of identity for their TGD clients.1:00–2:30 pm | Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME /CNESpeaker: Moe Ari Brown, LMFT Discussant: Ileana Calinoiu, MD Moderator: Ellie Pike, LPCThis presentation will outline and give the foundations of relevant terminology as it relates to the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition, we will explore the barriers to accessing mental healthcare for the LGBTQIA+ community and the nuances that exist. As clinicians, it is really important to understand our roles in allyship and how to advocate for LGBTQIA+ people in celebratory and afrming ways. This presentation will identify relevant tools and resources to engage with the community in a gender-afrming and celebratory way.LIVE SESSION DESCRIPTIONS82023 Eating Recovery Conference on Eating Disorders and Pathlight Conference on Mental Health

Attendees will also take away steps for collaborating with and supporting The Alliance. Additional resources will be provided for continued learning and support.THURSDAY, AUGUST 24 8:15–8:30 amWelcome from the Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Leadership TeamSpeakers: Ken Weiner, MD, CEDS, FAED; Susan Weaver, MD, FACP and Howard Weeks, MD, MBA, DFAPA, DFAACAP8:30–10:00 am | Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME /CNEAddressing Shame in Families with EFFTSpeaker: Elizabeth Easton Psy.D., CEDS This presentation will review how shame can impact mental health treatment, specically the shame a family may experience when a loved one is diagnosed with a mental health condition. Working through an emotion focused family therapy (EFFT) lens, discussion will include how to help family members identify when shame is impacting family dynamics and what therapeutic skills can be helpful in addressing shame once it is identied.10:30 am–12:00 pm | Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME /CNE Moderator: Toya Roberson Moore, MD Systemic racism has pervasive impacts on those suffering from eating disorders as well as those engaged in trying to alleviate that suffering. People from marginalized and minoritized communities must often also grapple with additional stigma and marginalization, macro- and micro-aggressions, discrimination and marginalization, and the well-documented conuence of stressors associated with minority status, putting people from these communities at particularly high risk for the development of disordered eating behaviors and their attendant consequences. Additionally, clinicians must recognize that, along with our clients, we are affected by and reective of the structures of the society in which we are immersed, structures which disproportionately disadvantage people from marginalized communities. There is nothing more important in establishing culturally afrming care than acknowledging the unconscious biases upon which we act, and which must be brought to our conscious awareness if we are to operate in a culturally competent fashion. More than just advocating for our clients, we must be active allies working to combat the ubiquitous and myriad consequences of discrimination and bigotry. We explore authentic allyship that focuses on actions over rhetoric and discuss the importance of social justice approaches in our clinical work to both elevate and deepen our work with ameliorating the impacts of eating disorders. We will focus on applying an antiracism framework to addressing injustices in our clinical practice and acting as allies and advocates for those struggling with mental health concerns.9Register at EatingRecoveryCenter.com/Conference
Medication Management of Mental Health Disorders in Primary CareSpeakers: Amy Richards, RN, BSN and Al Tsai, MDGiven the increased demand for mental health services, many primary care clinicians are being asked to support the mental health needs of their patients. This presentation will provide an overview of medication management for anxiety and mood disorders to inform primary care clinicians and those who work and collaborate with primary care clinicians about current guidelines and best practices. Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME/CNENavigating Clinical Crisis in the Virtual Space Speaker: Llyndsey Gregory, LCSWIn this presentation clinical leaders from virtual intensive outpatient programming will address the nuances of managing patient safety and crisis on virtual platforms. Having started in 2016, the ERC/Pathlight At Home team has treated thousands of patients, many with complex diagnostic pictures and histories of psychiatric and medical safety concerns. We have learned along the way the best tools for engaging patients safely and want to share our experiences with you! We will review the most recent legal and compliance expectations for virtual care, share examples of tricky patient scenarios, and offer innovative clinical tools to empower clinicians to treat complicated patients safely and effectively. Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME/CNE of evidenceSpeaker: Natalie Gukasyan, MDThis talk will delve into the potential use of psychedelic-assisted therapy for treating refractory depression. We start by examining the neurobiological and psychological mechanisms of psychedelic-assisted therapy, focusing on potential changes in thought patterns, emotional processing, and self-perception. The discussion then shifts to the potential risks and challenges of this approach, including those particularly pertinent to individuals with depression. The presentation concludes with a critical evaluation of the current evidence supporting the use of psychedelics in treating depression, examining data from clinical trials, observational studies, and anecdotal reports. This talk aims to provide a balanced perspective on the potential role and risks of psychedelic-assisted therapy in the treatment of depression, highlighting the need for further controlled research.Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME/CNESocial Media and Mental Health in Children and AdolescentsSpeakers: Emily Hochstetler, MD and Alyssa Lucker, DOThis presentation will review how social media can impact mental health, and how social media can impact treatment seeking, assessment, and diagnosis of mental health disorders. Further topics will include history of social media, neurobiology of adolescent brain development and social media may contribute to changes in brain development, and how treatment providers can assess for and address social media inuences in patients’ presenting concerns.Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME/CNEON-DEMAND SESSION DESCRIPTIONS102023 Eating Recovery Conference on Eating Disorders and Pathlight Conference on Mental Health

Crawford, MD and Janice Soman, DOEating disorders affect more than 28 million Americans. 6.1 million American women between the ages of 15 to 44 have difculty getting pregnant or staying pregnant. The intersection between disordered eating and fertility and pregnancy is increasingly recognized. However, women with eating disorders rarely disclose their disordered eating patterns to health care providers and OB/GYNs rarely screen for eating disorders so these individuals are typically unrecognized. Untreated, eating disorder result in persistent infertility and when pregnancy is achieved, there is greater risk for adverse outcomes including premature birth, low birth weight, low Apgar scores and perinatal death. Treatment for the eating disorder plays a critical role in improving outcomes with normalized eating and healthy body weight not only improving fecundability but also improving pregnancy outcomes. Exercise and Eating Disorder TreatmentThis presentation addresses the transition from medical clearance to the commencement of progressive activity in the early stages of eating disorder recovery. The overview will answer the question: should residential eating disorder treatment programs provide an outlet to safely introduce physical activity? Emphasis will focus on the benets of activity and differentiating between movement, physical activity, exercise, tness, anorexia athletica, compulsive exercise and addiction. A critical entity will be to clarify what medical and therapeutic clearance is necessary at the initiation of programming and follow-up medical guidelines throughout participation. The discussion will conclude with an outline of supervised guidelines that not only incorporate re-education regarding healthy and restrained activity, but also provide an in-depth description of how a variety of movement interventions (walking, yoga, tai chi, resistance training, dance, and games) can enhance the recovery process.Credit Hours: 1.5 CE/CME/CNEThis was an exceptional presentation.
