YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM EMPOWERING CHANGE THROUGH THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE The Equihands Youth Leadership Program EQYLP promotes the development of leadership skills in our youth using a combination of interactions with horses social engagement and facilitated reflections

In partnership with Golden Plains Shire Council Youth Department Hands of Change is offering a series of Youth Leadership Programs with the support of a grant received from The Geelong Community Foundation This FREE program is offered to youth between the ages of 12 and 16 There are six program dates to choose from with each program series being delivered one afternoon a week for two hours 4 00pm to 6 00pm over four weeks A maximum of eight participants per series will be accepted Each week will explore a leadership skill that can then be applied to community engagement Transport to and from the program in Meredith via Bannockburn is being provided by the Golden Plains Shire Council Youth Team PROGRAM DETAILS Learn and develop key skills each week that will enhnace and develop true potential to create impactful change Week One Observing the world around us Week Two Listening and communication Week Three Self awareness Week Four Team work

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS Linda and Chris are accredited equine assisted learning facilitators who obtained their Certificate Level IV from Equine Assisted Qualifications in the UK Combined with their 50 years working in various industries they want to share their knowledge in a unique learning experience using horses Both have a valid Working with Children Card LINDA WONG Linda is an experienced executive and facilitator of strategic thinking that combines real world learnings to deliver actionable plans As such her facilitation style promotes collaboration complex problem solving consideration of multiple dimensions investigation and time for reflection Linda began her journey with horses in her early 20s She has now combined her three passions people learning and horses In her on going passion and professional development Linda is working towards completing a PhD at Deakin University Faculty of Health Her research is based on identifying a framework in Equine Assisted Learning that achieves consistent outcomes for improving individuals health and wellbeing Supplementing this research will be a study on how technology such as virtual reality can be used in an Equine Assisted Learning environment to extend the reach and improve outcomes Linda is certified in Mental Health First Aid CHRIS ARDREY Chris has been working along side Linda in her equine journey since meeting in 1998 In doing so Chris has been privileged to meet and learn from some of Australia s best horse men and women Chris has a rural background from New Zealand and faced many of the issues that youth face growing up in a regional area before moving to Australia in 1985 In addition to maintaining the property and looking after the horses Chris continues his community work through the Lions Club and offering coaching mentoring services Chris is certified to provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care setting HLTAID004 For more information please contact P 61 0 490 055 984 E info handsofchange org au W www handsofchange org au We are located in Country Victoria about 95 km west of Melbourne Equihands is a program of Hands of Change Limited A registered charity with The Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission ACNC 2019 HANDS OF CHANGE LIMITED ALL RIGHTS RESERVED Proudly supported by
