Johnson is one such soul, a man whose heart beats not for self-glory but for the empowerment of others. A giver by nature, a visionary by calling, and aservant-leader in spirit, Darryl’s story is one of perseverance, humility, and boundlessgenerosity. For over 35 years, he has stood as a guiding light for women seeking financial security andindependence. Where many saw obstacles, Darryl saw opportunities. Where somehesitated, he extended a hand, offering wisdom and strategies to help women rise, not justto survive but to thrive.Today, we sit down for an exclusive and deeply moving conversation with the man behindthe Thriving Women Network, Darryl A. Johnson.Agatha Massery: Darryl, thankyou for joining us. This first issueof the Thriving Women NetworkMagazine is such a powerfulmilestone. But let’s start with thequestion on everyone’s mind, how did a guy like you end upleading a women’sempowerment network?JUNE 2025 FIRST EDITIONAPRIL 2025 FIRST EDITION

Page 5

Darryl A. Johnson: (Smiles) That’s agreat question. Honestly, I didn’t setout to create a women’s network.I’ve always been passionate aboutfinancial education and helpingpeople create generational wealth.Over time, I noticed that women, especially women of color, wereoften left out of the conversation. They were underserved, underestimated, and under-supported. I couldn’t ignore that. So, I started showing up, listening, and serving in the ways I knew how.Over time, that work evolved intosomething greater than I couldhave imagined.Darryl: I’m just a man whobelieves in people. I grew up ina home grounded in faith andservice. My parents taught methat leadership isn’t aboutpower, it’s about presence.I’ve been blessed withmentors and life experiencesthat shaped me. But I’ve alsofaced hardship. And thosechallenges deepened myempathy and strengthened mycommitment to serve. I don’tlead because I wantrecognition. I lead because Iwant to leave people betterthan I found them.Darryl: Never in my wildest dreams. That first Zoom call was meant tohelp a few women understandbusiness planning. But the energyin that room was electric. I couldfeel the hunger, not just forknowledge, but for connection, forsupport, for someone to say, “Youcan do this.” That call turned into aseries, then a community.Eventually, it became a movement. And I just kept saying yes to thenext right step.Agatha: And the next step led toradio, then to television. That’squite the leap!

TALK WITHTHE FOUNDERDarryl: I want it to be more than a magazine. I want it tobe a sanctuary for stories, a source of strategy, and aspark for transformation. When a woman reads anarticle here, I want her to feel seen. I want her to walkaway with tools, insights, and the belief that she iscapable of more. This is a space to celebrate resilience, share wisdom, and spotlight voices that deserve to beheard.Darryl: It really is. The shift to media was unexpected, but it was divine timing. I realized that media couldamplify the stories and strategies women needed tohear. It gave us a platform to educate, encourage, andempower on a larger scale. Every expansion, from radioto TV to this digital magazine, was about reaching morewomen and creating content that speaks to theirrealities and dreams.Darryl: Influence is about impact, not image. It’s notabout how many people follow me, it’s about how manypeople I help move forward. Influence is felt whensomeone says, “Because of you, I didn’t give up.” That’sthe kind of legacy I want. Quiet, steady, and rooted inservice.Darryl: Yes. There were seasons of exhaustion, discouragement, even doubt. But every time I wanted tostep back, I’d get a message or a phone call fromsomeone saying, “Your words helped me.” Or “I startedmy business because of this community.” Thosereminders kept me going. Purpose has a way of pullingyou through pain.Agatha: Let’s talk about this digitalmagazine. What impact do you hope itmakes?Agatha: You’ve been described as aninfluencer, but not in the social mediasense. How do you define your influence?Agatha: Were there times when you wantedto walk away?Agatha: You speak so often about legacy. What does legacy mean to you?Darryl: Legacy is not about what you build for yourself. It's about what you build for others. It’s the ripple effectof your actions, your sacrifices, your investments inpeople. I want to be remembered as someone whogave selflessly, who listened deeply, and who openeddoors for others to walk through. If women can standtaller because I knelt to lift them, that’s the legacy Iwant.Agatha: Final question—what would you sayto the readers opening this very first issue, maybe feeling unsure about their purposeor power?Darryl: I’d say, you matter more than you know. Yourstory is still being written, and it’s filled with power, evenin the pain. Don’t wait to be perfect to start. Just start.Serve where you are. Grow where you’re planted. Andtrust that everything you need is already inside of you.To our readers: Welcome to the debut issueof Thriving Women Network Magazine. Thisdigital space was created with you in mind,a platform to inform, inspire, and ignitepurpose. You’re not just reading amagazine—you’re stepping into amovement. This is where stories rise, voicesunite, and empowerment becomes a way oflife. We’re honored you’re here at thebeginning of something extraordinary.

S T E P - P A R E N T SThis wasn't just another talk showsegment. It was a living, breathingmoment of truth and compassion. Itoffered space not just for parents butfor children too, to be seen, heard, and deeply understood. The episodebrought raw emotion, personalstories, expert advice, and, mostimportantly, empathy to the forefrontof the discussion. We often hear, "every child isdifferent," and this episode honoredthat truth with grace. It was apowerful reminder that while everystep-parenting story is unique, onething remains constant: the need forpresence, patience, and love. Step-parents, especially stepfathers, mustbe present. They must listen, not toreply, but to understand. Buildingtrust with a child who did not chooseyou is a sacred journey, not a task tobe rushed. This is the work of theheart, and it must be balanced, intentional, and selfless. As one guest beautifully put it, “It’snot about the parents. It’s about thechildren.” That single line echoedthroughout the episode, touchingevery viewer who has ever walked thedelicate path of blending a family. Thetalk show didn’t offer clichés ortextbook answers. Instead, it openeda door to vulnerability and healing, reminding us that true connectioncomes through acceptance, consistency, and grace.THRIVINGWOMENTALKSTEP-GRANDPARENTS ANDCONCERNSWHAT STEP-CHILDREN FEELHOW TO BE A GOODSTEP-MOM/ STEP-DADT H R I V I N G W O M E N M A G A Z I N ET H R I V I NG W O M E N A I R S ONT U E S D A YS1 1 a m ES TGet to know more about what topics arehelping women thrive.

GRACEMY WILD RIDE is a candid comic memoir and meticulously-researched, uplifting survival guide.Although they appear to be separate subjects, cancer may often follow or be folled by infidelity.CJ Grace dealt with discovering her husband’s adultery and then getting breast cancer by refusingto be a victim and keeping her snarky, Monty-Python-style sense of humor. CJ’s memoir:Contains an unusual combination of black humor and pragmatism describing how to deal withthe double whammy of cancer and a cheating spouse.Shows cancer patients and their family, friends and caregivers what to expect and how to makethe best of their situation.Includes often-overlokked issues such as unsupportive partners, sex and celibacy, canceretiquette, and end-of-life planning. Is inspirational and laugh-out-loud funny rather than sad and scary, packed with useful adviceand oddball facts.WN HOST THRIVES DESPITE BREASTCANCER ANDINFIDELITYEx-BBC reporter and humorist self-helpauthor CJ Grace is a breast cancerprevenonadvocate.
