River or trails, prairie or playground, the outdoor enthusiast will nd plenty to do in Hanover.Spend the day shing on the banks of the Apple River, walk the prairie at Wapello Land & Water Reserve, or hike the Hanover Bluffs. Spend some time at White Park for a picnic, play on the playground or basketball court, or just relax enjoying the Apple River and countryside.Hanover is located on State Highway 84, part of the scenic Great River Road that runs through the center of the town. Mallardfest, traditionally celebrated on the third Sat-urday in September, is a family-fun annual event. This day-long event kicks off with a parade followed by a festival at White Park that typically includes a pumpkin coloring contest, duck calling contest, food and beverage booths, and more.Hanover also celebrates Independence Day with its own little twist by celebrating on the night of July 3. The evening normally begins with a parade, followed by canoe races and, once the sun has set, a star-spangled reworks display.
