StaffSpotlightA Fresh StartThis year, we welcomed new staff to our E’Lights family. Let’s meet one of them! Some of youmight recognise Mr Seah as the first person you see when you walk into school every morning. Hi Mr Seah! Welcome to the ESPS family! Please tell us more about yourself. Before joining ESPS, I was a technician. However, Covid-19 hit and I decided to takeup a course to learn to be a security officer.I enjoyed it and I wanted to gain moreexperience in it. So, I joined ESPS. I am happy working in ESPS because I getto learn from my senior colleagues.Everybody in ESPS is polite, humble andfriendly. I also like interacting with thestudents as they are very respectful! What is a typical day in schoollike for you?I work in school from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. My morning typically starts with traffic control, during which I will direct cars that are entering theschool compound. After the children are happily settled in their classes,I will walk around the school to secure the premises. Then, I will head back to the guardhouse. From 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm, I close the school gates toensure that cars cannot come in and students aresafe during dismissal. At 1:30 pm, I will stand outside Gate A to ensure thatthe students cross the road safely when they are onthe way home. After dismissal, I will return to theguardhouse where I will register visitors who areentering the school. This is very important tomaintain school safety. At 6pm, I will close the schoolgate and my day ends at 6:30 pm! Please share with us somethingthat not many people may knowabout you.Actually, my dream was to be the President ofSingapore, but I realised that there can only beone President (*chuckles*)!After work, I will head home and spend time withmy grandchildren. I have 7 grandchildren – threegranddaughters and four grandsons! I always remind them to study hard for theirfuture. I love bringing them to the coffee shop tohave a meal together and I feel happy whenever Ispend time with my family. My usual order at thecoffee shop is steamed chicken rice!Thank you very much for your time, Mr Seah Cheng Yeong!
Mdm ZehanScreens are everywhere and they can be fun and useful. However, too much screen timecan make your eyes tired, your body sluggish and your mind restless. So, it is important toadopt healthy screen habits for a healthier and happier you!Let’s check out some tips from your teachers!Whenever I want to focus, read,or spend time with my children,I will lock my phone.Sometimes, our phones can bea source of distraction. Puttingit away can help us to focus onthe task at hand! Now, I don’t use myhandphone as my alarmclock. This is to prevent mefrom using it instantly when Iwake up in the morning. I alsodon’t install apps that willlead me to mindless scrolling. No game apps too!Set screen time limits anddo something you enjoy!
