Chance Camp returned during the first week of the
Easter holidays, for 4 days of non stop sports activity at
Cockermouth RUFC. For the week we had excellent
numbers with over 40 children attending, having fun and working hard to improve
their sport skills.
Different to previous camps, we decided to offer a range of specific sports for the 4
days. They were rugby, hockey, tennis and football. To deliver the football, we
brought in Connor Cooke from Complete Football Coaching. Having Connor at the
camp was a real success and we look forward to continuing this partnership with him
in future camps.
As with previous camps, the children were split into Didi, Mini, and All Star age
groups. In the mornings the groups rotated around the different sports, developing
their throwing and catching, dodging, controlling, passing and
striking skills. In the afternoons the children then had the oppor-
tunity to test those skills in competitions. The children had the
choice as to which of the 4 sports they competed in. This gave them
the opportunity to decide whether they stay and continue to work
on their main sport or to try and test themselves in a sport they
might be less familiar with.
On the final day the children were set a series of challenges from
the 4 sports and competed against each other. Those
that got the highest scores in
their age groups were the cham-
pions.
Well done to everyone that
attended, for working hard
throughout the 4 days. We hope
you enjoyed your Easter!
