ISSUE - 27 2 LEAGUE MATCH REPORTS – SATURDAY 29th MARCH 2025 HAMWORTHY UNITED FC RESERVES (0) 0 BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS FC (1) 2 Bournemouth Sports clinched the Dorset Premier League title for the first time in their history securing a 2-0 win at Hamworthy United Reserves and with 1 game left to play in the season. The majority of the first half was a tense affair and somewhat scrappy game as the visitors struggled to gain any momentum or fluency to their game. However, they went ahead in the 33rd minute when winger TAYLOR WEBB followed up to head home from close range after a corner which saw Cameron Shaw's header come off the underside of the crossbar for Webb to pounce. Moments later a fierce shot from Taylor Edwards went just over the crossbar whilst at the other end pacey winger Rhudy Ntoumda saw his fierce shot going across the face of the Bournemouth goal and just wide of the target. HT 0-1 SAM DARLOW scored his 27th goal of the season with a clever back heel from close range in the 52nd minute whilst the hosts almost pulled one back ten minutes later
ISSUE - 27 3 when a player headed just wide of the target from a set play. Sports player coach Joe White went close in the 74th minute when played in but was denied by Hammers keeper Josh Wallis. Sam Darlow almost added his second of the afternoon late on in the game, but again Wallis kept out his effort with a fine save. So, Bournemouth Sports are now on 71 points and with one league game still remaining. A recent run of seven successive wins has seen the men from Chapel Gate finish the season in pole position and create a bit of club history in the process. League Champions does have a nice ring about it. Photo courtesy of Bournemouth Sports FC POOLE BOROUGH FC (0) 0 COBHAM SPORTS FC (2) 5 With Bournemouth Sports claiming the Dorset Premier League title after their 2-0 win at Hamworthy Utd Res, Cobham Sports were striving for three wins from their last three games to clinch a runner up spot in the Dorset Premier Football League. Cobham looked sharp from the off and a through ball in the second minute by Mike Trim found CHARLIE HARRIES who finished well from six yards to get the ball rolling for the visitors. Josh Toop was unlucky to see a goal ruled out in the 9th minute for offside after he got on the end of a superb Josh Buck cross but just four minutes later CHARLIE
ISSUE - 27 4 HARRIES got his second of the day after being fed by Toop, his shot on the turn was outstanding. It was all Cobham, and chances went begging and the closest they came to adding to their tally was when Toop had his shot saved in the 39th minute as the sides went to the break with Cobham comfortably two up. HT 0-2 There was an immediate breakthrough in the second half with ALEX BORGES scoring Cobham’s third after good work from Joe Wood. The big man was causing Borough so many problems and he was involved again in the 50th minute after a cross from Harries found Wood, his goal bound header parried into the path of JORDAN TOOP who stabbed home the rebound for Cobham’s fourth of the afternoon. It was five in the 53rd minute, JOE WOOD getting a well-earned goal after good work from Harries. Kingsley Eze-Sunday had a shot parried in the 62nd minute and Harries hit the rebound wide and Harries was close again just two minutes later but was just too high after Dan Brown had opened up an opportunity for him. CHARLIE HARRIES was just too high again in the 75th minute but he did claim his deserved hat trick in the 79th minute when he was first to react after an Eze-Sunday shot was parried into his path to complete the scoring and see Cobham home by 6-0. It was one way traffic for the entire ninety minutes with many good performances all over the park, Jacob Deakin gained his twelfth DPL clean sheet of the season with much of the credit going to the Cobham back line as Deakin didn’t have a shot to save all game, Charlie Harries made a nuisance of himself all afternoon with his tireless movement, Alex Borges and Josh Buck teamed up well going forward and under 18’s Dan Lindenberg and Ewan McKay were introduced at half time and both acquitted themselves very well in a really strong Cobham performance. ISSUE - 27 5 WIMBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES (3) 5 SWANAGE TOWN & HERSTON FC (3) 3 Wimborne Reserves gained revenge for their 5-3 Dorset Premier League defeat at Day’s Park on the first day of the season with their own 5-3 win on the 3G at the Wyatt Homes Stadium in the Dorset Premier Football League. Swanage produced a flying start, scoring 2 goals in the first 2 minutes through CODY MOORE and a stunning strike from teenager JOSH TITLEY. However, the hosts reduced the arrears on 5 minutes when KIMANIE EDWARDS capitalised on a defensive error. The young Magpies were level on 20 minutes with a well worked move finished by CALLUM CLARKE. Titley supplied a great pass, but home keeper Thorne denied Reavenall-Nuete when well-placed and again the home keeper saved well from Ocean Smith. Swans keeper Hibbs was called into action with two smart saves to deny the home forwards, however he was left helpless when CALLUM CLARKE completed his brace to put the home side ahead for the first time. Swans were level a minute before half time when OCEAN SMITH finished from close range following a long throw from Pryor which was flicked on by Reavenall-Nuete. HT 3-3 The home side took the lead on 55 minutes when they broke away and caught the visitors up field and KESTER WILSON finished off the slick move. Swanage had a great chance to salvage a point following a penalty being awarded for a trip on Prior, however Ocean Smith saw his penalty well saved by Thorne. Then, with a minute remaining the Magpies secured the points and revenge with a breakaway goal scored by GEORGE CHARLTON. This was Swanage’s last league game of the season in what was a

Photo courtesy of Gerald Dimarco [ST&H FC] SHERBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES (1) 2 PORTLAND UNITED FC RESERVES (0) 0 Sherborne were playing their last game of the league season and Portland only one place above them ensured the game was a competitive contest in the Dorset Premier Football League. The game started in glorious sunshine but with strong gusts of wind. It was a scrappy affair for the first ten minutes whilst both sides settled into the conditions. Sherborne were having spells of playing some entertaining football, whilst Portland were also doing the same, however, neither side really threatened each other’s goal. In the 34th minute a pattern of play down the right hand side for Sherborne resulted in the ball being delivered into the Portland box where the goalkeeper spilled the ball Onto ELLIOT Mann’s head who nestled it home. 1-0 to the hosts. Shortly after the half time whistle went. HT 1-0 Both side came out for the second half and with only one minute on the clock, Jamie Russo was brought down by the onrushing goalkeeper and a penalty was awarded. ASH GUPPY stepped up and slotted home to make it 2-0 to Sherborne. Portland came back firing and had a good spell of play where they carved a few chances. One of these included a header from the skipper which hit the woodwork. The game finished 2-0 to the hosts. Sherborne couldn't have asked for a better way to finish the season. After more than doubling last year’s points tally and an unbeaten run to finish they can't wait to get going again next year. It was also a fitting finish for 40 year old Nick Jacobs who has given 20 years’ service to the club. He led the side out in a league fixture for the last time. We thank Nick for everything he has given us over the years - a true Sherborne Town legend! Both sides will be back in action on Wednesday night when they face each other in the Supplementary Cup and it promises to be another entertaining affair!
ISSUE - 27 7 BRIDPORT FC RESERVES (1) 2 HAMWORTHY RECREATION FC RESERVES (0) 0 Bridport Reserves deservedly won this DPL fixture gaining an important 3 points in their fight for survival at the bottom of the table. The Bees started confidently with James Cox causing problems. It was he who hit a 25 yard free kick over the bar early on. 10 minutes in and a Kieran Daniels cross narrowly missed attackers and the far post. Archie Kershaw continued his fine season in goal for the Bees when he pulled off a save to his left following a deflected shot. Callum Arnold swivelled on the edge of the area, but his well struck volley was straight at the visiting keeper. Bridport finally broke the deadlock after 25 minutes - a long throw from Kieran Daniels was headed home by GEORGE WYRILL. Jake Childs then shot wide from 18 yards following good play from Paul Hill. Bridport were unable to find a second goal before half time - Fred Parsons and Kieran Daniels both being denied by the Rec keeper. HT 1-0 Although Hamworthy saw more of the ball in the second half the back 3 of Ash Smith, Josh Baker and George Wyrill prevented any real action for Kershaw and it was the Bees who were dangerous on the break. Fred Parsons was again denied by the visitor’s keeper before George Wyrill thundered a volley against the bar. Callum Arnold headed wide before being replaced by NOAH HOUSE, who had an impact from the bench and sealed the win in the 89th minute. He let the ball roll across his body before turning from 20 yards and striking into the corner of the net.
