ISSUE - 10 1 Welcome ………… To the 10th edition of the Dispatch for this 25 / 26 Season. I apologise that there have been no Issues, Issued over the last few weeks, but circumstances have seen me not able to put the required input into producing , so this bumper Issue covers the last 3 weeks of games. I am so grateful to Mike Pomeroy who has edited the last few weeks. After the last 3 weeks, Cobham Sports FC still sit atop the table and remain unbeaten, Blandford United FC & Dorchester Sports FC are still hard on their heels. There is still no change at the bottom of the table with Bridport FC Reserves and Poole Borough FC remaining in the bottom 2 positions. We are still seeing issues around the NOA procedure and the understanding of the process, further on in this edition is the full FA Handbook excerpt that covers this topic and is valid for our League. Approaching clubs have some restrictions around putting notices of approaches in, to prevent them seeking to take many players from one club at one time. The restrictions are: • The approaching club cannot approach the same player at the same club more than once per season. (C93.1) • If the approaching club has put of a notice of approach for a player at another club, the approaching club cannot put in a notice of approach for another player at the same club until 28 days have elapsed since sending the first notice of approach (C93.2) • The approaching club cannot approach more than one player at a club at the same time. The League is still looking for a Main Sponsor for season 2025 / 2026 and alongside a Main Sponsor there are other Sponsorship packages available, if this is of interest to you, please, in the 1st instance contact the General League Secretary on. dpl.generalsecretary@gmail.com Please continue to send your reports to Giles who will pass them on the me as temporary editor for the next couple of weeks. Kind regards. Giles Kilshawe-Fall

ISSUE - 10 3 LEAGUE MATCH REPORTS – 8th NOVEMBER 2025 GILLINGHAM TOWN FC () 1 BALTI SPORTS FC () 3 Gillingham Town returned back home hosting Balti Sports at Woodwater. Prior to kick off all in attendance held an immaculate two minutes silence to remember and honour those fallen heroes. Balti Sports came out of the blocks flying and caught Gillingham cold, giving away an early goal within 10 minutes and then minutes later finding themselves having to pick the ball out of the net once again due to their own errors and having a mountain to climb being 2-0 down inside 15 mins of kick off. The second goal seemed to have woken Gillingham up, though created little chances inside the first half to get themselves back in the game. Two nil down and two Balti defenders in yellow cards for cynical tackles Gillingham failed to make the most of the opportunities. HT 0-2 It’s becoming a habit of play that GTFC find something in the second half after a dreadful first to really play some lovely football and create lots of chances to get themselves back into then game. It took an absolute wonder striker from 16 year old Caleb Pack from 25 yards out to get Gill back into the game at 2-1. For the next 25 mins it looked nailed on Gillingham were going to get something from the game, but missed chances and wasted opportunities they just couldn’t find the second goal before another worldie strike from Balti left Dale Hinds with no chance and another goal you just have to applaud the opposition. 3-1 with very little time left on the clock it was another very frustrating day for Gillingham which should’ve been so different! If Gillingham want to improve and climb the table, they have to improve and cut out individual mistakes so early in the game! ISSUE - 10 4 BLANDFORD UTD FC () 2 BOURNEMOUTH ELECTRIC FC () 1 After last week’s super convincing 5-0 win against Portland United Reserves we this week was at home again as we welcomed Bournemouth Electric in what was set to be a competitive match up... The first half started quick when on the 3rd minute a wonderful through ball found REUBEN STANLEY beat his marker and ran past him and slotted it under the outrushing Goalkeeper! (1-0) then the game was end to end with both teams having chances but it was the Royals who got the second goal of the game on the 42nd minute when JIMMY FRY cuts inside to just outside the box then fired in a absolute cracker! (2-0) HALFTIME: ROYALS 2-0 BOURNEMOUTH ELECTRIC The second half was a end to end affair with neither team creating many super clear chances until the 80th or so minute when fordy fired back to back shots agonisingly across the goal but it was the visitors who scored the only goal of the second half when a pass back to Lucas Goad bobbled infront of him and went in! Freak goal! (2-1) definitely a great spectacle for the 170+ in Attendance at Park Road! FULLTIME: ROYALS 2-1 BOURNEMOUTH ELECTRIC HOLT UTD FC () 1 BRIDPORT FC RESERVES () 0 Holt United 1 – 0 Bridport Reserves The game began with a respectful two minutes’ silence in honour of Remembrance Day. Much like last week, Holt United started strongly, taking control from the opening whistle. After just four minutes, a flowing move through midfield and down the left flank saw George Ashby thread a superb pass through to Dan Naish, who unleashed a powerful 20-yard strike into the net to make it 1–0 to Holt. Holt continued to dominate possession and create chances throughout the first half, but the Bridport goalkeeper and the woodwork combined to keep the scoreline unchanged going into the break. The second half followed a familiar pattern to recent weeks, with Holt slow to restart after the interval. This allowed Bridport to grow into the game, moving the ball quickly and putting the Holt defence under sustained pressure. The visitors carved out several good opportunities, but Holt keeper Reece Mitchell produced a series of excellent saves to preserve the lead.

Page 6

ISSUE - 10 5 As Bridport pushed forward, Holt looked to hit on the counter and forced the visiting keeper into a few fine stops of his own. Despite the late pressure, Holt stood firm to claim a hard-fought 1–0 victory and another valuable three points. It may not have been a game for the purists, but Holt will be pleased with the result as they now turn their attention to next week’s trip away to Verwood Town. POOLE BOROUGH FC () 0 SWANAGE TOWN & HERSTON FC () 2 POINTS AND A CLEAN SHEET Poole Borough 0 Swans 2 Swans took the points with a 2-0 win against Poole Borough at Turlin Moor in The Dorset Premier League. Swans produced a flying start with a goal in the first minute when Ogun Gundogdu headed home a free kick from Marcus Smith. Swans dominated the first half and went close on a number of occasions through Ocean Smith, Pitt and Young. Hornets keeper Bourke saved from Ocean Smith when clean through. Swans should have been further ahead at the break but were unable to increase the lead after having the lion’s share of possession. H.T. 0-1. Borough battled hard to get a foothold in the game in the second half but the Swans were resilient and were always looking to increase their lead. Hosts keeper Bourke was again called on to save from Moore, Young and Reavenall-Nuete. Swans keeper Hibbs was called into action with a fine save to prevent the equaliser. The visitors secured the points with a stoppage time goal from Josh Reavenall-Nuete following a great pass from Moore for a well deserved win against a battling Poole Borough side. Swans Star Man - Riley Greenwood Team: T.Hibbs, R.Greenwood (C.Magnier 88), B.Smith (J.Pritchard 46), O.Gundogdu, S.Pryor, C.Pitt (J.Martin 67), S.Herrington, M.Smith, O.Smith (C.Moore 46), J.Reavenall-Nuete, C.Young. ISSUE - 10 6 VERWOOD TOWN FC () 0 COBHAM SPORTS FC () 5 DPL Matchday 15 saw Cobham Sports return from Potterne Park with another three points as they eclipsed Verwood Town with a strong second half display that saw them run out eventual 5-0 winners. Verwood had been slightly the better of the sides in the first half despite going a goal down inside three minutes to another Callum Clarke strike but a strong opening nine minutes by league leaders Cobham saw them move into a 5-0 lead courtesy of a brace from Clarke and goals from Cam Beard and Asa Phillips in a much better second half display. Verwood forced a corner on the right in the second minute and Sergio Craciun’s curling kick struck the bar but immediately Cobham went up the other end with a good move involving Tino Maher and Callum Clarke, the former beating a man and cutting the ball back for Clarke to finish with aplomb to give Cobham the lead. Another fast start for the leaders saw them dominate the first 15 minutes but Verwood seemed the hungrier, especially at picking up the seconds, and they began to look the better of the two sides, they were particularly dangerous on the counter with Cobham appearing to be at sixes and sevens at the back. Verwood’s Matius Gryzbowski brought a fine save from Luke Beale in the 27th minute as they began to get a grip on the game but back came Cobham and a Harry Wright header was cleared from the line in the 35th minute. Clarke was so unlucky to see a tremendous shot on the run from 30 yards canon off the far post in the 39th minute and Andrei Munteanu had a shot well saved by Ryan Knibbs in the 43rd minute. The half was brought to a close with a Craciun effort clipping the far post and the half ended with Cobham holding a 1-0 lead. Words, I’m sure were said at halftime by Johny Bines at his team and a stunning start to the second half from Cobham saw them score four times in 9 minutes, first Clark was played in intelligently by Asa Phillips in the 47th minute and he advanced to push the ball comfortably past the advancing Knibbs. It was 3-0 just three minutes later, a Callum Perry corner headed home well by Cam Beard, two minutes later it was four as a Sam Lench cross was expertly back healed into the net by Asa Phillips and this excellent start to the half was rounded off with Clarke claiming his hat trick in the 54th minute, again being played in by Sam Lench. It was all Cobham now with the game opening up, they went to the bench and still maintained the pressure and Verwood were resigned, mainly to counter attacks. Joe Wood at full stretch was unlucky in the 70th minute just pushing the ball wide of the near post, Cam Beard had an effort saved by Knibbs in the 83rd minute and Amechi Eze-Sunday saw a cracking effort from 20 yards crash against the far upright as Cobham strolled to a 5-0 win. The game opened up from here with the home side looking to get back into the game, but Sherborne were solid in defence and the game stayed at 0-1 until the break. HT 0-1 The second half started with the home side looking immediately to get the scores level, pressing high to win the ball back in the Sherborne half but were caught out by a ball over the top in the 47th min, the striker gambled on an early run and cleared the Rec defence, created a good angle and slotted it around Toby at his near post, 2-0 Ham Rec were throwing everything at Sherborne but were unable to break them down, in the 70th min, Sherborne won a free kick in the home sides half, taking the kick quickly they caught the home side napping, a ball played across the front post, a great run from a Sherborne player saw them nick the ball at the front post wrong footing Toby to increase their lead and finish the game off as a contest 0-3, from there the game fizzled out to a convincing away win for the visitors, getting revenge for our previous game when Rec ran out winners, Rec look forward to facing them again in a couple of weeks for our 4th game against them this season. FT 0-3 HAMWORTHY UNITED FC RESERVES () 2 WIMBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES () 2 Match Report: Two-Goal Comeback Secures Dramatic 2–2 Draw Supporters witnessed a thrilling encounter as the home side fought back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2–2 draw, after the visitors stormed ahead in the opening period. The away team began brightly, dictating tempo and applying pressure from the outset. Their early intensity paid off in the 12th minute, when they took the lead. Just eight minutes later, in the 20th minute, they doubled their lead with a great goal, leaving the home keeper with no chance and the hosts visibly rattled.

Page 10

ISSUE - 10 9 With work to do, the home side emerged after the break with renewed determination. Their comeback began in the 52nd minute, when Phillips latched onto a clever through ball and calmly slotted past the keeper to reignite belief around the ground. The pressure continued to mount, and the equaliser arrived in the 75th minute, as Cherrett smashed into the net, sending the home crowd into raptures. Drama continued late on as substitute Richardson, introduced with 12 minutes remaining to inject fresh energy, was shown a sin bin shortly after coming on for dissent, leaving the hosts temporarily down to ten men. Despite the setback, the home side held firm and even threatened on the counter as the clock ticked down. Both sides pushed for a late winner but neither could find the decisive touch. After a game full of passion and momentum swings, the spoils were shared, with the home side earning their point through grit, resilience, and sheer determination. SWANAGE TOWN & HERSTON FC () 3 VERWOOD TOWN FC () 0 PRYOR DOUBLE SEALS THE POINTS Swans 3 Verwood Town 0 Swans returned to winning ways with this 3-0 defeat of Verwood Town at Day’s Park in The Dorset Premier League. FULLTIME: ROYALS 5-0 PORTLAND UNITED RESERVES BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS FC () 3 GILLINGHAM TOWN FC () 1 Bournemouth Sports secured a seventh home win of the season with a comfortable 3-1 result against Gillingham Town from North West Dorset. The hosts started brightly with Jamie Booth going close before they took the lead in the 11th minute. A long throw from Jake Perch was initially cleared but eventually ended up back with him and his cross was met by Sports striker Rob Howard who's goal bound effort was sliced into his own net by a Gills defender whilst attempting to clear it. The men from Chapel Gate went 2-0 ahead only moments later when Rob Howard converted well from close range following good play between wingers James Bergin and Taylor Webb. At the other end the visitors went close following a good pattern of play which resulted in the striker missing from close range. On another occasion veteran Bournemouth keeper Marc Davies had to be alert to block a shot from close range and at an acute angle. James Bergin saw his direct free kick rattle off the underside of the bar in the 37th minute with the hosts unable to follow up on the loose ball to extend their lead. HT 2-0 The second half became a somewhat scrappy affair with lots of stops and starts which ultimately affected the hosts more as it disrupted their rhythm and fluency. However they eventually got the third goal in the 70th minute when Captain Taylor Edwards played in a low free kick into the box which was converted by Central Defender Daniel Viner scoring his first goal for the club following his move from Hamworthy United Reserves in the summer. Gillingham won a penalty in the 80th minute when Jake Perch was judged to have fouled a player inside the box and the resulting spot kick was duly converted. Bournemouth held out firm in the final ten minutes as they were on the backfoot and defended well ensuring an important 3 points and a first win since late September following some tough fixtures in October.

Gillingham had Dale Hinds back and available in goal which was a massive boost to the team, though still made the trip with a massively depleted squad that was effected by injuries and illnesses. GTFC knew they would be up against it and it showed within 15 minutes of kick off a failed clearance from Gill keeper Hinds fell perfectly to their opponents who took their opportunity who 1-0 up Gillingham really struggled to get into the game and another defensive mistake soon after made it a massive hill to climb finding themselves 2-0 down going into half time. Like normal Gillingham came out for the second half a completely different team, created chance after chance and should’ve been ahead had their chances been converted. Sadly, it’s been that story without their two strikers who are both out injured. Grady Crittall was forced off due to an accidental head clash and Caleb Pack shortly after was on the wrong end of a bad tackle that went unpunished, which in turn saw his game come to an early end having to limp off. Klarc Coates caused havoc down the right hand side and got his just rewards earning Gill a pen for a desperate tackle by the opponents. Once again no card given by the official for challenge on Coates, though the pen was slotted home by Josh Grace to make it 3-1. GTFC pushed and pushed and were the much better and dominant team in the second half, though it’s another game of “what could’ve been”. . BS 3-1 GTF

ISSUE - 10 13 HOLT UTD FC () 3 BALTI SPORTS FC () 1 Petersham Lane Holt United began the game brightly, taking control from the opening whistle. Their early dominance was rewarded after just 15 minutes when an attack down the left wing led to a cross to the back post, where Ben Lebow was on hand to finish smartly and put Holt 1–0 up. Holt continued to dictate play, and their pressure paid off again on 35 minutes. A slick passing move was finished clinically by George Ashby, doubling the lead to 2–0. The home side were full of confidence, and five minutes before the break, Josh Buck added a third after another spell of excellent build-up play, giving Holt a commanding 3–0 advantage at half-time. After a strong team talk during the interval, Balti Sports came out with renewed purpose in the second half. They looked far more organised and began to create chances of their own. Their improvement was rewarded midway through the half when a corner was bundled home at the back post to make it 3–1. Balti continued to press, but Holt’s defence—marshalled superbly by Kane Daish—stood firm to protect their lead. Despite further opportunities for the visitors, Holt saw the game out comfortably to secure a much-needed 3–1 win. First half goals by Callum Clarke, with a brace and Mike Trim gave Cobham a 3-1 lead at the break, Bryn Doyle scoring for Dorchester, a second half strike by man of the match Harry Wright completed the scoring with Dorchester behind reduced to 10 men after keeper Nick Hutchings was shown a red card. Cobham got off to a flyer taking the lead in the second minute, Callum Clarke getting on the end of a superb cross by Sam Lench and they increased their lead in the 11th minute when Clarke was fouled in the box by Sam Poole, the leagues leading scorer dusting himself off to send Hutchings the wrong way for his seventeenth goal of the season. Seven minutes later Dorchester reduced the deficit when Bryn Doyle headed home from a corner and this sparked some life into the home side after their sluggish start and saw them with a far more positive approach. Dorchester were now having their best spell of the game and Sam Poole was close with another header from a corner but he was just too high and wide of the far post but they couldn’t capitalise on some Cobham complacency. The game had drifted into four minutes of added on time in the first half and the last piece of action saw Cobham claim their third of the

Following this goal Dorchester keeper Hutchings was, first sin binned but continued his discussion with the referee and was then shown a red card, this saw Callum Streamer take the gloves. Cobham became sloppy for a period and Owen Peart went close with a left footed effort in the 63rd minute as Dorchester applied some pressure in the game and Luke Beale had to be at his best when Derek Wall was played in on goal in the 77th minute but Beale was more than a match for him saving well. Cobham had taken their foot of the gas a little in the final throes of the game but Dorchester didn’t really threaten too much and Cobham came close tho a fifth in the 84th minute, Harry Wright just pulling his shot wide in the 84th minute. Gillingham won a free kick 22 yards out in the 11th minute and Archie O’Donnell’s kick beat the wall and brought a fine save from Luke Beale who followed that up with another fine save from his parried first save. Cobham lost Eze-Sunday to an injury in the 13th minute bringing Callum Clarke into the game and Cobham increased their lead in the 18th minute, skipper Ellis George striking home after good work by Sam Lench. Lench brought a save out of Horrocks in the Gillingham goal in the 25th minute and just a minute later Phillips thundered an effort onto the crossbar with Horrocks out of position. The pressure paid off in the 34th minute, Callum Perry finding Harry Wright who finished well to make it 3-0 and Phillips had a chance to increase the lead just before half time but he pulled his shot wide of the near post. For the second week in a row Cobham got off to a flier in the second half, Phillips became provider with a defence splitting pass to Clarke who finished with aplomb to make it 4-0. The home side went to the bench in the 49th minute and still kept the pressure on, Lench was narrowly wide in the 55th minute and Clarke should have bagged his second in the 68th minute after being played in by Joe Wood. Cobham made it five in the 74th minute, a fine cross from Callum Perry was nodded home by

ISSUE - 10 17 Joe Wood and just three minutes later it was 6-0, Lench finding Wright for his second of the afternoon. A spell of scrappy play by Cobham saw them concede a free kick some 22 yards out on the angle and Caleb Pack stepped up to give Beale no chance at his near post, clearing the wall for a fine goal, 6-1. The scoring was completed in the 88th minute, another Perry cross was nodded home at the far post by Wood, his second of the afternoon, to make the score 7-1 and right on the final whistle Gary Hind thought he’d got a second for Gillingham only for Beale and Alfie Phillips to deny him. Their bright start was rewarded just four minutes in when they were awarded a penalty following a strong attack down the right-hand side of the Holt penalty area. However, Holt’s goalkeeper produced a brilliant save to keep the scores level. Bournemouth continued to threaten, creating another excellent chance from close range, only to fire over from ten yards out. After weathering the early storm, Holt began to settle and grow into the game, creating opportunities of their own. Their persistence paid off on 20 minutes when a corner caused a scramble in the six-yard box. The loose ball fell kindly to Sami Garcia, who reacted quickest to slot home and give Holt a 1–0 lead. Both sides traded chances for the remainder of the half, but neither was able to find another breakthrough before the whistle, sending Holt into the break 1–0 up. The second half followed a similar pattern — an open, end-to-end contest with both teams looking to take control. Both goalkeepers were called into action with important saves to keep their teams in the game. On 66 minutes, Bournemouth Sports equalised after a slick move down the right. A low cross across the face of goal was met at the far post for a deserved leveller, making it 1–1. The closing stages saw both sides push for a winner, but despite several promising attacks, neither could convert their chances. The game ended 1–1, with both teams feeling they could have taken all three points from a hard-fought and entertaining encounter.

ISSUE - 10 18 POOLE BOROUGH FC (0) 0 BALTI SPORTS FC (3) 4 Another defeat for the Borough on the moor. Three goals in the first half put the game to bed for the visitors. The visitors went ahead after James parried a shot which was followed up for a tap in. Balti doubled their lead from a corner and finished from a close range header. Bond should have done better from close range for the home side, but the visitors made it three with another header. HT 0-3. The second half was mostly uneventful with both keepers not really tested and the visitors got a fourth late on after a good run and cross which was finished into the roof of the net. FT 0-4. PORTLAND UTD FC RESERVES (0) 0 DORCHESTER SPORTS FC (0) 1 SHERBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES (2) 5 SWANAGE TOWN & HERSTON FC (0) 2 Sherborne Town Reserves bounced back in style after two consecutive league defeats, overcoming Swanage Town & Herston 5–2 in an entertaining Dorset Premier League encounter at Raleigh Grove. The pitch was in excellent condition, allowing both sides to get the ball down and play some attractive football, though the opening stages were a little bitty and lacked rhythm as both teams looked to settle into the game. Sherborne were gifted an early lead within the first ten minutes when Jamie Russo capitalised on a defensive error, striking calmly past the Swanage goalkeeper to make it 1–0. Just minutes later, the home side doubled their advantage through George Geraghty, who reacted quickest in the box to poke home after a well-worked move down the flank. During the break, a light drizzle began to fall, slickening the surface and allowing for quicker ball movement. The visitors came out sharper and got one back from a corner early in the second half, punishing some hesitant Sherborne defending. That setback seemed to wake the hosts up, and Sherborne soon regained control. A cleverly worked free kick from Ash Guppy found Joe Boon, who finished well to restore the lead at 3–1. Guppy then got himself on the scoresheet, confidently converting from the penalty spot to extend Sherborne’s advantage.

ISSUE - 10 19 Swanage refused to give in and made it 4–2 after a dangerous free kick caused problems in the Sherborne area, but any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed when Guppy struck again — this time with a superb volley from range to seal the victory. The visitors’ afternoon went from bad to worse when they were reduced to ten men late on after a second yellow card, and Sherborne saw out the game comfortably to record a deserved 5–2 win. BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE Sherborne Reserves 5 Swans 2 Swans experienced a bad day at the office suffering a 5-2 defeat to Sherborne Reserves at Raleigh Grove in The Dorset Premier League. Swans were the first to go close when Ocean Smith fired his shot just over following a good run. However it was the home side that struck two goals in the 6th and 11th minutes that dented the confidence of the Swans’ depleted squad. Swans slowly regained a foot hold in the game and carved out a couple of good chances. Parker in the Zebras’ goal denied Reavenall-Nuete with a good save, also Ocean Smith with a shot and Brad Smith with a header both went close. H.T. 2-0. Photograph Courtesy by Gerald Dimarco Swans produced the perfect start to the second half when new signing Reavenall-Nuete scored from close range following a free kick. The hosts hit back within a minute of the restart to regain their 2 goal lead. The home side were now in the ascendency and went further ahead. Defender Stephen Pryor gave his side a little hope when he reduced the arrears with a header and Fontana struck the bar with parker beaten. The hope didn’t last long as the Zebras scored number 5 to secure the 3 points and send the Swans back to the Purbeck empty handed.

Sub: L.Fontana VERWOOD TOWN FC (0) 0 WIMBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES (0) 1 A disappointing Verwood Town performance led to Wimborne Town Reserves picking up three points. Recent games had a spark, this one never lit up. From the whistle it was evident both sides had their heads elsewhere. Football quality was mixed. Luckily, we had a reasonable defence to cope with tentative strikes and new signing Ryan Knibbs in goal showed a safe pair of hands. Isolated attacks should have produced a couple of goals. Craciun on 27 minutes gathered a Fudge crossfield ball, cut inside his marker and an angled shot was palmed round the post by the keeper. WT’s efforts were high and wide. Half Time 0-0 A glimmer of a good attack popped up straight from the re start. We attacked down the left a good cross from Danvers finished up untouched and going dead. We stood still on three minutes. It was as though Wimborne had brought on Moses. We parted like the Red Sea. A comfortable run into the box and Wimborne put the ball into the bottom corner. 0-1. We did offer a token threat to draw level with the best efforts from Pope. A header from a free kick kicked off the line and a free kick on the edge of the box blocked by a solid defensive line summed up the half. Result a disappointing 0-1 score line. However, the provisions of these Rules shall apply to Approaching Clubs at ANY LEVEL of the game. C88 Subject to Rule C89, a Club wishing to approach a Non-Contract Player (the “Approaching Club”) registered with one or more Clubs must give to the club secretary of each such Club seven days’ written notice of its intention to approach the Non-Contract Player (the “Approach Notice”). C89 An Approach Notice must be given by: C89.1 a Saturday Club only to other Saturday Clubs. C89.2 a Sunday Club only to other Sunday Clubs, and C89.3 a midweek Club only to other midweek Clubs. C90 A Club that receives an Approach Notice must ensure that the Non-Contract Player has received and is aware of the Approach Notice. C91 The Approaching Club must send the Approach Notice: C91.1 by first-class post to the registered address; or C91.2 by email to the club secretary or chairperson, of the Club(s) that the Non-Contract player is registered with. C92 An Approaching Club: C92.1 may only register the relevant Player after seven days have elapsed since sending the Approach Notice (i.e. no earlier than the eighth day); and C92.2 must register the relevant Player no later than 28 days following the sending of the Approach Notice. Guidance For the purposes of calculating the relevant time limits, the day on which the Approach Notice is sent shall be day zero. C93 An Approaching Club must not: C93.1 approach the same Non-Contract Player at the same Club more than once per season. C93.2 having sent an Approach Notice to a Club, approach another Non-Contract Player at the same Club until 28 days have elapsed since sending the Approach Notice; and C93.3 subject to Rule C94, approach more than one Non-Contract Player at a Club at the same time. ISSUE - 10 25 C96 Where a Club is found by The Association and/or an Affiliated Association to have acted in breach of Rules C88 to C95, its registration of the Non-Contract Player may be cancelled and the Club may be subject to such other penalty as The Association or relevant Affiliated Association deems appropriate. TO SUM UP ……… If a club wishes to register a player who is currently on a non-contract registration(s), they will need to provide a 7-day notice of approach to the club(s) who the player holds a current registration with, before they are able to speak to the player. It does not matter whether the approaching club wishes to register the player on contract or non-contract, the key part is whether the player is currently registered as a non-contract player. If so, then a notice of approach is required. This should only be done if the approaching club wish to register the player. If the club seeking to trial the player only, the club should speak with the current club(s) and obtain for permission to trial only (see FA Rule 66 (adult) and C133 (minor). ISSUE - 10 26 IFAB – Laws Of The Game Update 25/26 CAPTAINS ONLY PROTOCOL Purpose and Rationale The protocol is designed to strengthen respect between players and referees by formalising that only the team captain may approach the referee to discuss key decisions. The aim is to reduce incidents of mobbing, dissent, and intimidation of match officials — improving the environment for everyone involved in the game. Key Points • Normal, respectful interactions with referees are still permitted; however, dissent (by word or action) remains a yellow card offence — even for captains. • Only the captain from each team is allowed to approach the referee on major decisions. • Captains are responsible for ensuring teammates stay away from the referee during these moments. • Referees may delay the restart to allow captains to communicate messages back to their teams if necessary.

Page 28

ISSUE - 10 27 Additional Details • If the goalkeeper is the team captain, an outfield player must be nominated to fulfil this role for referee interactions. • A “captain-only zone” of 4 metres will be established around the referee; no other players are permitted within this area. • Any non-captain entering this zone should be cautioned for dissent by action. If multiple players enter, at least one must be cautioned, and the incident will be reported to the relevant authorities. • Competition organisers are encouraged to introduce sanctions for repeated breaches across the season. National Implementation This protocol will be implemented consistently across: • All professional competitions • The National League Pyramids • County FA-administered football Our approach is to create alignment and consistency from the top tiers to grassroots, improving behaviour towards match officials at every level. Education and Communication We are currently rolling out education for referees, County FAs, Referee Development Officers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and consistent application. Clarification for Youth, Veterans, Disability, and Grassroots Levels Although IFAB have included an arm signal to initiate the protocol at these levels, in England we will not adopt this. Referees will manage the protocol themselves, using their existing match management skills. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the details further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch through refereedevelopment@thefa.com
