ISSUE - 15 1 Welcome ………… To the 15th edition of the Dispatch, this edition covers matches played on Saturday 30th November 2024. The League for the 1st time implemented its SEVERE WEATHER PROTOCOL for all games scheduled for the 23rd November, this decision to blanket Postpone ALL scheduled games was not taken lightly, but due to the Storm Weather Warning in place over the whole DPL Geographic area and the travelling distances some sides were needing to make from West Dorset across to East Dorset, the decision was correctly taken in the interests of safety. BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS FC still remain unbeaten and sit atop the division with COBHAM SPORTS FC hard on their heels. At the other end of the table, BRIDPORT FC RESERVES & WIMBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES find themselves in the bottom 2 positions. As mentioned in the last edition, the behaviour of occupants in Technical Areas was high on the Agenda at last week’s LMC meeting. Following discussion, the DPL will be writing to the Refereeing bodies, urging them to implement ALL available disciplinary tools at their disposal, furthermore if things do not improve around Technical area behaviour, then the League will be left with no option but to issue Disrepute Charges against Clubs & individuals. The Dorset Premier Football League is now advertising for a New Team Manager for its Representative Side, if this is of interest to you, please contact the League Secretary initially on dpl.generalsecretary@gmail.com to register your interest. I continue to urge ALL Clubs to make sure their Match Day Administration is correct and follows ALL League & Cup [incl County Cup] Rules both before, during and after Matches. I also urge ALL sides to make sure Player Registrations are valid and urge Managers to check which players are available on Match Day via the FA Full Time Site to avoid any doubt. We still have sponsorship opportunities for season 2024 / 2025, if this is of interest to you, or you know anyone who might be interested please ask them to contact me to discuss further on. dpl.generalsecretary@gmail.com Kind regards. Giles Kilshawe-Fall
ISSUE - 15 2 LEAGUE MATCH REPORTS – SATURDAY 23rd NOVEMBER 2024 PORTLAND UNITED FC RESERVES (1) 2 BOURNEMOUTH SPORTS FC (3) 4 The Blues hosted high flying Bournemouth Sports on a bleak afternoon at the Camp and Satherley stadium in the Dorset Premier Football League. Despite having the lion’s share of possession in the early stages it was the hosts who took the lead against the run of play in the 17th minute when RYAN MCKECHNIE scored with a good shot from outside the box which went in off the far post giving Bournemouth keeper Ryan Knibbs no chance. Sports were soon back on level terms when midfielder JOSH MOODY scored with a brilliant free kick from just outside the area in the 24th minute. Just 3 minutes later the visitors went ahead when a long throw from Dan Edwards was flicked on for JAMES BERGIN to volley home for his 14th goal of the season. Sports were very much on the front foot now and striker Sam Darlow almost scored but saw his header from a cross go marginally over. However, in the 40th minute JOSH MOODY would find himself on the scoresheet again chasing down a back pass to keeper Sam Moggeridge who's clearance hit Moody and flew into the goal. HT 1-3 Into the second half and Portland started brightly and went close with a header just over the bar from a corner in the 55th minute. At the other end Josh Moody also went close but saw his header sail just over the bar. Sports went further ahead following clever play by substitute Max Mountford who picked out JACK VOISEY to fire home in the 67th minute. Fellow substitute Gabriel Spennato went close late on before Portland grabbed
ISSUE - 15 3 a 2nd goal of the game when JOSH CAMP capitalised on a poor back pass to fire home inside the area to complete the scoring. The blues felt a little hard done by after their performance, but you could see why this Bournemouth side are top of the table, with their organisation and clinical attacking threat evident throughout. There were very few chances created from both sides in the first half, however the Royals took the lead in the 19th minute when STEVE SMITH headed home in off the bar from close range. Swanage responded when Turner and Moore both went close, but it needed Reavenall-Nuete to clear off the line and Cohen Lee to produce a brilliant interception. Swanage keeper Brad Smith was called on to make smart saves to keep the visitors at bay and to maintain the one goal deficit at the interval. HT 0-1 Swanage showed a steely determination in the second period with Marcus Smith being instrumental in midfield, the Royals keeper Foden produced brilliant saves to deny Reavenall-Nuete and Albie Turner. Swans levelled on 72 minutes when Skipper
ISSUE - 15 4 STEPHEN PRYOR struck a shot come cross from 30 yards which seemed to deceive keeper Foden and nestle in the top corner. It was now game on with both sides battling for the winner. Swans keeper Brad Smith kept his side level with a good save, however on 82 minutes Swans secured the 3 points when Conor Magnier won the ball deep in his own half to feed Cody Moore who produced a great cross for ALBIE TURNER to smash home the eventual winning goal. The Royals pressed for an equaliser but were denied by some great saves from keeper Brad Smith. Sports came into the game without a win in three league games and made it a league double over their Poole-based opponents on Saturday in the Dorset Premier League. Dan Sheehy opened the scoring in the first half before Toby Kelly secured all three points with a second half strike as Dorchester registered their 12th win of the campaign. It was the away side who started the brighter of the two sides at The Avenue, though, with more possession, moving the ball well. However, they were unable to create that many clear-cut chances with Sports' defence standing strong. Sports grew into the game and after 30 minutes Ashley James' side started to see more of the ball and created two good chances. First Joel Hewitt blazed just wide after cutting in from the left-hand side and then Alex Godfrey had a chance well saved from close range with Euan Joyce's rebounded effort deflected for a corner. From the resulting corner Sam Poole saw a header go just wide. The pressure was mounting on the away side and Sports got their goal just before half time. Godfrey's clever flicked pass found DAN SHEEHY who smashed in from close range to give Sports the lead at half time. HT 1-0 Dorchester came out in the second half the better side and controlled the game with a good amount of possession giving Ham Rec very little to work with. Sports missed a number of chances to double the lead, though, as they dominated play. Hewitt went through on goal twice with one-on-ones with Ham Rec's keeper but both times was well saved by Henry Birtwistle. Then Toby Kelly had a good chance, but his strike was also saved by Birtwistle. TOBY KELLY did put the game to bed shortly after when again another clever give and go with Godfrey saw Kelly's left footed shot find the corner of the net. Ham Rec did miss a good chance from close range late on after a great cross blazed over the bar to finish the afternoon's action. Report courtesy of the
ISSUE - 15 5 HAMWORTHY UNITED FC RESERVES (0) 1 POOLE BOROUGH FC (0) 0 With both teams languishing down at the wrong end of the Dorset Premier Football League table, coupled with it being a local derby, there was much anticipation to today’s game with not only bragging rights but a swap in league position on the table From the first whistle the intensity was there with Poole Borough picking up a yellow card within two seconds of the start, but it was in the 20th minute when an innocuous challenge saw Dwayne Yeboah for the hosts given a surprising straight red card leaving Hamworthy down to 10 men. Possession was retained well by the 10 men of Hamworthy and any under load was not being tested by Poole Borough and the half time score remained goalless as the visitors could not find a way through. HT 0-0 It was pretty much the same in the 2nd half with a lot of huff and puff but with no real goal threat being produced by both teams, Hamworthy stuck to their principles and made it difficult for Poole Borough to get the ball and Poole were not making the most of the extra man with the balls from deep getting longer and longer as they tried to impose a more attacking threat. This played into Hamworthy’s hands a little as they were able to carve several passes together past an open midfield to find KAI KILCOYNE on the 75th Minute, who spun his marker to fire into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal. With time ticking away it was Hamworthy that were able to see the 100+ minute game out and take a much-needed victory to jump out of the relegation spot and claim local bragging rights at least until next season. This defeat saw Borough drop into the bottom two. WESTLAND SPORTS FC (1) 3 WIMBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES (2) 2 Westland’s welcomed Wimborne Town Reserves to Alvington in the Dorset Premier Football League, it what turned out to be a hard-fought encounter played on a heavy pitch it was the hosts who edged it in the end. Wimborne got off to a flying start at Alvington when they took the lead within 60 seconds. Some sloppy play from the sports midfield led to the Wimborne’s LUCA LANE picking up the ball beating his man and smashing the ball low into the far corner. Wimborne then quickly doubled their lead. After a quick break down the left. The ball was played into the box and placed home by HECTOR RAYNER. Wimborne continued with the early onslaught, but Sports managed to avoid any further damage. After the 20th minute, Sports started to grow in the game and created their first chance when Malik Kamal put through Dan Chislett, whose shot was straight at the keeper. Malik then thought he pulled one back only for the linesman to rule him offside. Sports continued with the
ISSUE - 15 6 pressure till half time but wasted several chances. However, just before half time, they were handed a lifeline when Steve Ormrod was brought down in the box. STEVE ORMROD then got up to slot away the penalty. HT 1-2 The second half started very much the way the first ended, and relentless Sports pressure finally paid off in the 65th minute when MALIK KAMALS deflected strike beat the keeper to make it 2-2. With seconds left on the clock, the comeback was complete after some excellent work from Harrison Foster saw his ball put across the face of the goal and just turned into the goal by STEVE ORMROD, sparking Jubilant scenes for Westland Sports at the end after what was an entertaining if not hard-fought game. BALTI SPORTS FC (2) 2 BOURNEMOUTH ELECTRIC FC (5) 6 Balti Sports welcomed Electric to the College for their latest Dorset Premier Football League encounter with the visitors handing out a finishing lesson to their hosts. Balti started well and went in front in the first couple of minutes when CHARLIE MUSSENDEN latched onto a loose ball and finished nicely to make it 1-0. Bournemouth Electric after this early set back, grew into the game and punished Balti on 3 occasions taking a 3-1 lead with goals by, DILLON KING, JACKSON KAVITA & SERGIO CRACIUN. Balti managed to get themselves back into the game, when a cross-field ball from Charlie Mussenden found JOE WEARING at the back post who took the ball down and finished well for his first goal in the DPL. With Balti in the ascendency having chances to equalise, Bournemouth Electrics attacking prowess proved too much for Balti as they hit them on the break twice with further goals from DILLON KING & SAM LENCH and the half finished with the visitors well on top. HT 2-5 The second half wasn’t as action packed as the first, with Balti having a few chances to get a goal back, but it was Bournemouth Electric who managed a well worked goal courtesy of FAUSTINO MAHER to get their 6th and finish the game off, so taking the 3 points back to Bournemouth with them.
ISSUE - 15 7 BRIDPORT FC RESERVES (1) 3 COBHAM SPORTS FC (2) 6 Cobham Sports returned home with the three points from their encounter with Bridport Res at St Mary’s Field in West Dorset in the Dorset Premier Football League. Bridport started the better of the two sides but only had a 25-yard volley from Joe Etherington, which went narrowly wide, to show for their efforts. Cobham grew into the game, and they took the lead in the 16th minute, Buck crossing for AMECHIE EZE-SUNDAY to head home powerfully from 8 yards giving Kershaw no chance in the Bridport goal. Cobham doubled their lead in the 25th minute, AMECHIE EZE-SUNDAY finished with his left foot from twelve yards. The Bees finished the half stronger. Fine play from Paul Hill and Mattie Loader down the left allowed loader to drill a low cross along the goal line but no Bridport player was able to find the crucial touch. Shortly before the break, MATT LOADER blasted a free kick from 22 yards into the top of the net to give the Bees hope going into half time. HT 1-2 The first 30 minutes of the second half was controlled by Cobham. A tweak to their formation and a more attack minded set up thwarted the Bees from gaining any telling possession and a lack of control and composure on the ball was punished by the visitors. Cobham increased their lead in the 54th minute, JOSH BUCK dribbled into the area and slotted past Kershaw. DAN KELLY headed home from six yards for Cobham’s fourth of the afternoon on 60 minutes. Bridport gave up possession in their own half which allowed DAN BROWN to chip in from 35 yards out. Cobham scored a scrappy 6th goal with the linesman spotting the ball had crossed the line, the goal was credited to DAN BROWN. Bridport had the better of the last 10 minutes and MATT LOADER reduced the arrears when he converted a penalty after he was fouled. Jack Summers was then brought down in the area and MATT LOADER again stepped up confidently, slotting home to complete his hat trick. HOLT UNITED FC (0) 4 SHERBORNE TOWN FC RESERVES (0) 1 NO REPORT submitted by the hosts. Scoring for the hosts were SAM BRADFORD, JAMIE POWER with a brace & an OG, with GABE PLANT scoring for the Zebras.
