My goal is to makethis experience as fun as possible.But I know you might have somequestions related to the program,so this guide will help clear up alot of those questions!This program was launched in theSpring of 2019 as a way to helpspread the word about myphotography studio in local highschools in the area. In addition,this program allows me to buildlong-standing relationships withthe girls + boys who are thebackbone of my business.As a senior rep, you'll have theopportunity to participate insome modeling shoots and shareyour experiences with yourfriends via social media. All you're required to do is bookyour senior portrait session withme during the 2024-2026 schoolyear. When anyone you referdirectly books and completes asenior session with me, you'llreceive 5 additional digital imagesfrom your session (and so dothey)!This program is more than justpretty pics. I’ve always loved thebond that these seniors developover the year. The support theyshow each other during shootsand on social media isunmatched. How doesit work?Desiree Ortman Photography 2026 Senior Rep GuideAs a senior rep, you'll have theopportunity to participate insome additional shoots duringthe 2025-2026 school year - oneof which is a celebration shootthat we do with caps and gownsas graduation approaches.You'll receive a gallery of digitalimages from each shoot to shareon social media! In addition tothese shoots, you will receive afew headshots and some groupphotos from our first meet-up.But what about YOUR shoot? Asa senior rep, you're required tobook your own senior portraitsession for the 2025-2026 schoolyear. Your session must bebooked between May 2025 andApril 2026. In order to participatein the group shoots, you mustbook a date for your own senior session prior to March 1, 2025and pay a the $355 session fee tosecure the date. As a rep, you getpriority scheduling to make sureyou get the season and date youwant! If you don't secure yourdate by March 1st, I can'tguarantee my availability for yourdate of choice.So what's in it for you? MEETDESI was born and raised in Bel Air,MD (hey, hey CMW seniors). Igraduated from the University ofDelaware in 2003 with a degreein Communications and startedin sales + marketing right aftergraduation. I worked for Black &Decker for 8 years, and left myjob in brand marketing in 2011 tostay home with my first born,Scarlett. I continued to dofreelance work until my son, Desiree Ortman,Owner, Desiree OrtmanPhotography (DOP)Kellan was born in 2014. Idabbled in some otherbusinesses, but kept going backto the idea of being a full-timephotographer. I love thefreedom my business brings. I'm an Aquarius, Type A,enneagram 3 who loves shoes,football, 90s R&B, Taylor Swift,cheese and podcasts (notparticularly in that order).
MEET LEAHLeah and I met back in 2017 and we hit it off immediately. Our love for all thingsfashion and 90's hip hop was a huge factor. I always tell Leah if we were a little closerin age, we would have been high school besties. Leah is a former college cheerleaderturned suburban mama of two littles. In addition to working with DOP, she is awedding and events coordinator in the Baltimore area. In her free time, Leah enjoysinterior design, spa treatments, and listening to podcasts. And fun fact, Leah's cousinwas a Class of 2022 DOP REP! Leah Murphy is Desiree’s Personal AssistantSO, WHY SENIORS?When I first started my photo biz in2017, I was a jack of all trades – Iphotographed families, newborns,weddings, kids, sports, events… youname it, I did it, but somethingabout working with seniors wasdifferent. Maybe it was the fact thatevery shoot was wildly different ormaybe it was the one-on-oneconnection, but there wassomething notably different. Andone day it hit me… these senior portrait sessions were more than just photos. They were a genuine confidence boostfor teens. As a teen, I struggled with self esteem, and wasn’t really sure where I fit in. Ican only imagine how teens today feel now that social media exists. It’s amazing whata positive photo experience and gorgeous images can do for a teenager’s self esteem! In 2020 I shifted my biz to focus on teens and seniors and it was the best decision I’veever made.
FAQSFAQS0101WHAT DO I WEAR TO THEEDITORIAL SHOOTS?For most of the editorial shoots, Desiree will provide the maincomponents of the wardrobe. She typically asks each rep tobring some basic pieces and accessories (shoes, jewelry,undergarments, etc). For shoots where the wardrobe isn'tprovided, Desiree will share an inspiration board to give youan idea of the vibe of the shoot. She will provide somegeneral direction as to what she's looking for. No need topurchase outfits specific for the shoots - you should be ableto work with what's already in your closet.0202WHAT IF I DON'TREFER ANYONE?As a DOP senior rep, you are not required to referclients; however, referring clients means rewardsfor you and for them. For every senior you refer,you'll receive 5 free digitals from your session, andthey receive 5 free digitals from theirs!
HOW DO I SCHEDULE MYOWN SESSION?0303Your own session needs to be scheduled prior to March1, 2025 to ensure that you get the first pick of the time ofyear and the day you want. Your session must bescheduled between May 2025 and April 2026. Your $355session fee is required to reserve your date. If a conflictarises or there is bad weather, we will reschedule. Justtext or email to start the process.0404HOW DO YOU TRACK MYREFERRALS? Every rep will be given a custom REP CODE afterour first meet-up. They will also be given digitalrep cards with this code on it to share with friendsvia text or on their socials. When seniors fill outthe inquiry form on my website, there will be asection for them to enter their referring rep code. This must be entered in order for the rep to getcredit. 0505HOW DO I REDEEM STUDIOCREDITS?After your session, I will inform you if you have anyrep referrals. If you do, you’ll be able to select 5additional digitals from your gallery for each referralat no charge. If referrals are received after yoursession, Des will notify you and you can go back intoyour gallery and choose 5 more images at nocharge!
DOPAs a DOP Senior Rep, DOP will be yourexclusive senior photographer for the 25-26school year (excluding sports photography foryour school or club and yearbookphotography).Your SessionAll reps are required to book their seniorportrait session with DOP between May2025 - April 2026. In order to participate inthe styled shoots, each rep must have theirown senior portrait session scheduled byMarch 1, 2025 and pay a $355 session fee tohold their date. Should any conflicts arise,like illness, weather, etc, the date may berescheduled .Creative ShootsYou will participate in our first group shootas well as our grad shoot at the end of theyear. You will receive all digital images fromthese shoots. Throughout the year, somereps will also participate in promotionalphotoshoots.Sharing + PerksYou are encouraged to share your photosto your personal social media accounts. You are responsible for tagging imagesusing designated hashtags. For any seniorthat uses your custom rep code in theirinquiry form when they book, you willreceive 5 free digital images when theycomplete their session; they receive 5 freedigitals, too! Leah will send you a questionnaire followingour meet-up to kick off the scheduling process.This will allow her to help determine the idealtime of year and general vibe for your session.PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSIONAbout 8 weeks prior to your session you’ll receive alink to schedule your session planning call. Youshould schedule your call about 4-6 weeks beforeyour session. On this call we will finalize exactlocation, discuss outfits and I'll answer anyquestions you have about your session.DOP QuestionnairePlanning CallAs a rep you’re guaranteed first dibs on your desired session date. Following ourDOP REP MEET-UP on FEBRUARY 2nd, my assistant, Leah will be in contact withyou to start the scheduling process. The full process is outlined below:After we have a date, Leah will send over acontract for you to sign. All of my contractsand payments are online, so as soon as yousign, you can pay your $355 deposit.Select a Date Leading up to your session, I'll continue towork with you via text to finalize your outfitselections for your session. If you need alittle extra help, I can even assist with directshopping links.Outfit SelectionsPay Session FeeBased on your questionnaire, you'll work with Leahto select a date for your shoot. Since we’rescheduling so far out, we select a “week of” date andwe will finalize the specific date a little closer to yourshoot - about 6-8 weeks prior. I shoot weekdayevenings around sunset, so please keep in mind yoursports schedule when selecting a desired week.DOP Style GuideOnce you pay your session fee, Leah will send youa copy of my exclusive digital DOP Style Guide. I know you're so excited to see some of yourphotos after your session which is why I alwaysshare a sneak peek on social media within 24hours of your session!SNEAK PEEKPROOFING GALLERYApproximately 2 weeks after your session,you will receive a private online proof gallerywith all of your images. These galleriesinclude 125+ images for you to choose from. IMAGE SELECTIONEvery session comes with 50 digital images andprint release. After reviewing your proof gallery,you’ll select your 50 favorites.AFTER YOURSESSION.DELIVERYAfter you’ve selected your favorites, DOP willcomplete all of the fine-tune retouching anddeliver your final gallery of images via email.Once you receive your final gallery, you will haveaccess to view and download for a full year. Senior year is such an exciting time for seniors as they prepare for the nextchapter of their lives. I want to help you document this special time throughphotos.My goal with this program is to be more than just your child's seniorphotographer; I hope to also be a mentor and positive influence in their life thisyear.
