Middle School Football City Champions Oglethorpe Charter School The OCS Football Titans completed a perfect championship season. The average margin of victory was over 28 points. The Titans won 15 consecutive games and back-to-back championships making the 2022 OCS Football Titans one of the most dominant middle school teams in SCCPSS history. The undefeated Tide crashed ashore with an incredible inaugural year of athletics. The STEM Lady Ravens Cross Country team won the district cross country championship after winning every regular season meet in which they participated. In the championship meet, they had 4 runners place in the top ten with Francie Tedder taking 1st and Maya Lilja-Vazquez placing 3rd. Not only did they win every meet, but top runner Dorian Mobley also won every meet including the championship meet. In the championship meet, 5 runners placed in the top ten including Dorian Mobley in 1st place and Tate Salter taking 3rd place. The STEM Lady Ravens Volleyball Team won the district championship to complete a perfect season. Not only did they not lose a single match, but they also did not lose a single game of any match for the entirety of the season. Way to go, Lady Ravens! The 2022 team went 8-1 this year and lost to Godley Station in the playoffs. TEAM MEMBERS: Marrii-El Bowden, Raylen Brown, Harper Butts, Brianna Farthing, Alanna Gibson, Kinsley Harnan, Jade Jenkins, Olivia Kiley, Tatum O’Berry, Annabeth Polite, June Rectenwald, Brylee Rein, Ava Silvoy, Addyson Williams, Kailey Willis The 2021 Coastal Middle School Boys Cross Country team was the Middle School Champions for that year. The 2022 team placed 2nd behind STEM Academy.
TEAM MEMBERS: Jamison Adams, Isaac Edris , Thomas Giovannini, Carter Greenwood ,Niko Hanks, Nathan Haslam, Turner Jones, Bobby Rectenwald, Jaron Rhinehart, Atticus Seeger, Cole Rains, Beckham Turbiville, Charles Whiteside The Lady Sharks from Islands High School got to the final four of the region 4-AAAA fast pitch softball state championship. With an overall record of 21 and 10, the Lady Sharks placed fourth in the state in the region bracket. Six of the girls made the all-region team. We are proud of those sharks. TEAM MEMBERS: Hope Bucher, Allyson Farthing, Hailey Hill, Bayan Lara, Heba Lara, Devin Long, Kathryn McCarty, Haylie Myers, Gabrielle Narvaez, sarah Shearouse, Emma Sullivan, Julia Tootle, Dilynn Weaver, Aaliyah Williams, Adeline Zaragoza, The Islands High School girls cross country team won the 4A Region 3 Championship, and advanced to run at the GHSA State Cross Country Championship, where 4 runners scored in the top 75, earning a 12th overall finish. Throughout the season, the girls team consistently placed in the top 5, including a third-place finish at the Bulldog
Invitational, a second-place finish at the Mile Farm Invitational meet, highlighted by a 5th place overall finish for senior Kya Bonds, and a team win at the first SCCPSS at the 7th Mile Farm Invitational. Kya Bonds was named to the second team of the All-Greater Savannah Team. Nia Conley earned Honorable Mention, as did freshmen Sadie Edris and Holly Kachmar. TEAM MEMBERS: A’Marie Allen, Kya Bonds, Amanda Brinck, Sydney Brow, Lillian Burkhart, Nia Conley, Emma Dardik, Sadie Edris, Addison Gavin, Hailey Hayden, Holly Kachmar, Dakota Marable, Madison McCurry, Abigail Miles, Avyanna Pritchett, Sydni Stapleton, Natalie Tisinger, Abigail Van Brimmer The Islands HS volleyball team was the Area 3-AAAA Champions and advanced to the second round of the GHSA State Volleyball Tournament. They were 32-7 overall and 10-0 in area play. During the season, Aislinn Lanigan recorded her 1,000th career assist and Veronica Sierzant earned her 1,000th kill. GIRLS RUNNING! The Girls Cross Country Team from Savannah Arts Academy grabbed the lead in the region 3-AA championships. The team included Margaret Wade who brought home the hardware for an overall state champion finish in cross country. The team accolades include 1st place in the Frazier Hite invitational, 1st place in the Stinger Invitational, 1st place in the Raider Invitational, 1st place in the Savannah Country Day Race, 1st place in the 7th Mile Farm Invitational, AA region champions, 2022 AA state champions. Mr. Steve Ricciardi was named Savannah Morning News Coach of the Year, and Georgia Cross Country Track and Field 2-AA Girls Coach of the Year. Individual Overall Cross Country Champion was SAA Panther Margaret Wade. The Lady Panthers also brought the heat in volleyball. Savannah Arts Academy Volleyball was the 3-AA region champion and was favored to finish well in the state tournament. They competed extremely well and made it to the final four where they were bumped out by the eventual state champions. Congratulations to all these Lady Panthers! The team played 3 rounds in the GHSA State Playoffs where they lost in the quarterfinals. Two players on the team played in the state all-star game and one player was named as an All-State Honorable Mention.
