There are many different types of celebrations and holidays held each year in the world. Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza are all celebrated in December. Christmas is a national holiday that is held on December 25th. Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza are celebrations of religion, traditions, or heritage. We sometimes think about decorated trees and stockings at Christmas. A menorah is a candle holder that is a symbol that reminds us of Hanukkah. President Abraham Lincoln said that slavery would end in the United States and all men would be free and should be treated fairly. It took a more than two years for people living in Texas to hear what President Lincoln said. It was on June 19, 1865 that the people living as slaves in Texas first heard about their freedom. The United States recognizes June 19 as Juneteenth, a Federal holiday. Juneteenth is a day of celebrations.
